There is a difference between a car model and a year of manufacture but in Uganda they mix it up, e.g CAR MAKE = LAND ROVER,
MODEL = DISCOVERY
YEAR OF MANUFACTURE = 2019

I am shocked at how high the prices are for vehicles there!! 😮 I didn’t expect that at all, I thought they would be much cheaper: 300M for the used Land Rover Discovery is 3 times as much as here! 3 times!! 😳 I know they look nice but are very unreliable and VERY expensive to fix and just maintain.
The maroon Toyota Rumion was closest to our prices here. We call that car a Scion xB. My ex gf had one and it was reliable and good on fuel.
Subaru is also reliable and cheap on fuel with all wheel drive for safety.
I’ll check out your travel videos as I am coming to Uganda in December.
Its mainly because of the taxes but also the market perspective ,most people in the ugandan market consider rangerovers as "highly valuable" luxury brands. this is what many middlemen take advantage of. the same applies to the real estate sector there are some houses that are priced more expensively than houses in abroad (over 500k dollars) simply because there is a niche market that can afford them

Yes but they need a deposit of about 80% of the money then pay the 20% in installments
Why would you pay 300m for a 2017 land rover discovery when it should only cost about 74m???
No sensible person is going to buy an expensive luxury car to drive in Uganda as long as the streets are in terrible condition and the traffic laws are taken as suggestions by drivers in overcrowded unregulated streets. Stay under 20M because its not a matter of IF You get knocked... Its a matter of WHEN.

Thanks for the video but to be honest the cars are a bit overpriced given the years! My Ugandan folks are being ripped off, but I understand its business! I will not drive a car that is shiny on the streets of Kampala, it's a mess folks, I tried it and it was bad experience for me! I am looking for a rough, rough car like safari Landcruiser or Jeep Rubicon with rough military paint or faded black or green! That way I don't have to worry about potholes or getting scratched

Girl I took my driving lessons in 2019 and got a permit. Just need to do a refresher driving course to polish my skills and boost my confidence on the road 😂
