- I was in Raleigh, North Carolina hanging out with my buddy (and musical virtuoso) Joe Troop. Formerly of the band Che Apalache, he is now doing a new group with his friend Larry Bellorín. Larry is from Monagas, Venezuela and is a legend of Llanera music. One thing about being an immigrant to a new country though, you don't always end up doing the same thing you were doing in your original land. Sometimes even if you're an incredible, world class harp playing genius, you end up on a construction site. That is where we found Larry on this sweltering day, operating some heavy machinery. For lunch, Larry's wife brought the family and some good food, and we all sat around for a song.
Larry was able to quit construction in January to pursue music full time with Joe. Their debut album, Nuevo South Train, was produced by Charlie Hunter and was released March 24th this year.
They're touring coast to coast.

I’m gonna need a translator to understand the lyrics, but I’m glad to have discovered something new I enjoy tonight. Great music!

I'm so impressed at this man's well-kept nails while also working a construction job.
Gems forever. For ever and ever.
It’s so lovely to see folk music of all stripes archived and preserved. Thank you Larry and Joe for sharing this beautiful song! ❤
This is pulling at me
Just like the moon does the salt seas
Larry Bellorin is incredible. This video is glorious, iconic. "One thing about being an immigrant to a new country though, you don't always end up doing the same thing you were doing in your original land. Sometimes even if you're an incredible, world class harp playing genius, you end up on a construction site." Thank you, Gems, what a moving snapshot. And may Larry thrive!
Thank you, Seth!!
@@larryandjoe Keep doing what you guys are doing, you're making the world better one song at a time (love your other music too, Joe). Take it easy, but take it.
@@larryandjoe amazing talent man, thank you!! If you keep playing on lunch breaks OSHA will have a problem though, random people will be all over the job site to listen
Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ for giving him the opportunity to show his talent and story. You’re such a great person.
Never seen a operator play the harp in the lunch break.
Wholesome, everything's perfect! Thanks for giving him this chance.
No idea what he is saying but this is incredible
It takes a certain song or singer to make me have a tear in my eye...Red Sovine etc..He just earned a spot..Mi Amigo Bonita...

When you said Harp I was expecting a harmonica.

I saw Larry & Joe live at Rockygrass this year and it was a hoot!

Anyone know what this song is about? I can’t understand the language but would love to know
there are actually closed captions now! you can click the little CC button for the translation. it is about a farmer whose cow dies, and the absolute tragedy that signals for the farmers life. really emo track lol. truly a folk song.
I love it even more now thank you!
Did he eat Larry?

makes me wonder how many potentially great artists are out there spending all their time hustling for a buck
In our Venezuelan plain there is an old omen that says: "The llanero is the size of his commitment" Thank you USA for the opportunity and wherever you find an artist like him, give him your support, Larry must love to play the harp and sing . Thank you.
