Mmm, I'd have to disagree with that. They were one of the first glam/hair metal bands, but Quiet Riot and Hanoi Rocks were before them. Hanoi Rocks' look was extremely influential on those Sunset Strip bands, and Quiet Riot was the first to break out and go nationwide, unless you count Van Halen as hair metal.
Gabby Hendricks nah it was Van Halen. They are the ones who invented it. Here's why:

Whether you consider Def Leppard hair metal or not they’re probably the best band on this list. Not to degrade any of these other bands but Def Leppard has proven their versatility with songs like overture, sorrow is a woman, on through the night, lady strange, Billy’s got a gun, gods of war, fractured love, desert song. You don’t hear stuff like that from any other band on this list. RIP Steve Clark. One of the most underrated guitarists of all time

I honestly thought Cinderella would have placed much higher. I've always liked their Bluesy brand of Hair Metal and felt they were considerably better musically and lyrically than Poison, Ratt, Whitesnake, Twisted Sister and Motley Crue. I mean, like those 80s bands to varying degrees, but to me, Cinderella was just a better overall band.
For some reason Cinderella has always been underrated. IMO, they are one of the absolute best bands I've ever heard live along with Dokken.
Saw Cinderella and Winger in '89, both bands seriously talented musicians. Cinderella is the best though.
Tom Kiefer was amazing. White-snake was more talented overall
Coverdale is the only GLAM METAL Artist in the rock hall. With deep purple
Let's not go overboard here, Keifer might be an amazing blues player, but Whitesnake had/has some amazing talent Sykes, Aldridge, Sarzo, Vandenberg, Campbell, Vai and that's just the late 80's lineups.
Definitely better than Poison and Bon Jovi, but I don't think they were better than Twisted Sister

One of the best glam metal/speed metal album: Pantera - Power Metal (1988)
I would say that it was heavy/speed metal album. The only thing glam about it was their hair.
If you actually listen to the album you'll see that it doesn't have a glam sound at all. I actually pulled it up on RUclips thinking it would be funny, but I actually found myself really liking some of the tracks! I would recommend checking it out with an open mind, I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I can't speak for the albums before that one though. I've never listened.

Koray Topcu power metal was pretty heavy and actually power metal , they were glam metal only before Phil Anselmo imo

Rosario Verano Bon Jovi is not hair metal, Their debute album dropped when NWOBHM was huge and hair was just starting to emerge. Def Leppard shouldn't be on this list either for that very reason. "True" hair metal are bands such as; Warrant, Ratt, Cinderella, White Lion. etc ..
Well, yeah only 2 of their 13 albums are considered hair metal. But Slippery is to this day the most successful album of the genre and New Jersey had 5 Top 10 singles. If the video talks about bands that have been in the genre for most of their time then I'm wrong

Def Leppard did all kinds of different genres and did pretty well every single time. That's why I like them so much. :)
Def Leppard had two good albums, both of which were hair metal: Pyromania and Hysteria. Most of their other shit sucked ass.
That genre consists of the likes of Motorhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden etc. I don't really consider Def Leppard to be part of that wave to be honest.

Stryper is a better band than any of these 10 on this list. They have hits and they have sold millions of albums. They are more successful than Slayer. Slayer don't even have a platinum record in US but Stryper has. Their comeback is even better than the time before splitting up.

I grew up on this stuff, but hate the term hair metal. My tastes go well beyond the radio bands though (and the second and third wave bands that destroyed the genre). It should just be called '80s hard rock IMO.

Quiet Riot? Hanoi Rocks? Bon Jovi? Van Halen? Great White? Warrant? Faster Pussycat? Slaughter? Extreme? I'm not a fan of all of these bands, but they deserve to be on this list more than some of the bands listed here do. Name one thing that made WASP "great" at all. They threw raw meat at their audiences? They had a hit with a song that The Who originally wrote and recorded? What?

Excellent list, apart from the fact that Dokken, Whitesnake, Skid Row, W.A.S.P, and Def Leppard were not hair metal bands. You could have renamed this list to ‘bands that were big in the ‘80’s’, or kept the name but actually put bands on here that were really Hair Metal like Warrant, White Lion, Lizzie Borden, Keel, Stryper, Lillian Axe, Firehouse, Tigertailz, Winger, Faster Pussycat…you had so many legitimate options. Every day Loudwire shows me how little they actually know.

Some metalheads hate glam music but I love glam / hair metal. but I can listen to death metal or black metal or grindcore styles at the same time but I still don't understand why glam metal is the most excluded metal genre...7 years ago when I was 9 years old dokken I met glam by listening but then when I discovered heavier music genres I still did not quit glam music

GNR aren't hair metal. They were more straight-up hard rock, like AC/DC, though since their debut album Axl has been taking pains to make them more like Queen or whatever.
I love GNR but they are more like hard rock.
If GNR is not a hair metal band, neither is Skid Row. The Skids were as heavy or heavier than any Guns tune on Slave to the Grind and Subhuman Race. Baz's voice is very well suited to ballads. It's pretty. He's pretty. That's why they achieved radio success for the lighter but still lyrically substantial songs. Sure, they are easy on the eyes and there's never an out of place hair on any of their heads, but they kicked serious ass musically. You cant listen to The Threat or Chain Gang or My Enemy or Beat Yourself Blind and think they're more like Poison than Guns. I think this list should have gone 1. Guns N Roses, 2. Van Halen, 3. Twisted Sister, 4. Motley Crue, 5. Skid Row 6. W.A.S.P and then whoever the fuck else.

I remember this time period. I was little, but I can recall Bon Jovi being huge. The ones you listed were big too, but Bon Jovi did fall under the "hair metal" banner early on and we're bigger than quite a few on the list.
