    The premier group in the bluegrass business, with Chris playing along, who could ask for more?
    You can tell that Del is really proud of his sons, and his grandson. He has every right to be, they are something.
    I think that Bill Monroe himself would admire this band.

      Chris Thile, Paul Kowert, and Chris Eldridge have also been on tour with Gaby Moreno in her band, for the past 3 years.

    You know it's good when the musicians laugh at the end. And it only got better after the show ended and the house band joined Del McCoury to super group it up.

      I loved that. With the pre-show music and the jam session, the live show is a good 30 minutes longer than the broadcast.

    Two mandolin greats lighting the stage on fire... Maybe I’ll have words for this experience once I pull my jaw off the floor.

    "How do you do that??!!" asks the guy who wrote the tune to Thile after his sick break...love it!

    Not exactly a warm up tune is it? He put that Loar through its paces just to make sure it still works. That’s some sick mando playing but what else would you expect? If you put thiles foot to the fire this is his top two genre of music. Why not he learned it first. The GOAT

    It’s so weird to see someone standing completely still while playing mandolin. I’m too used to Chris!

    Can anyone explain to me what all those clamp looking things are on the headstock of the banjo at 2:57? I think I see an electronic tuner and a capo but what is all that other stuff?

    • @EarlMalmsteen
      @EarlMalmsteen 5 лет назад

      AndyPanda9 cheat a keys. They are a form of D-tuners ( allow quick change tuning)

    THIS is when this show shines. Not the esoteric "mood electronica narrative" stuff (it has it's place, but not on a live variety show).

    Why can't the always annoying Chris Thile ever just let his guests play without joining them? I'm surprised he didn't try to sing, too! I din't think it was possible, but he's even more annoying to watch.

    • @ben210907

      bruce h sounds like someone doesn’t understand musicianship. Thile is the greatest musician on that stage but he doesn’t hog the limelight. True respect right there.

    • @earlescoggins7852
      @earlescoggins7852 3 года назад

      It’s the attitude that Thile projects that screams “I’m so hot and so good” that makes him obnoxious.

    • @JacobThomas-kk1jk
      @JacobThomas-kk1jk 4 месяца назад

      @ben210907 , exactly. People who don't know much about music or are not musicians don't seem to understand how this stuff works. He could have hogged all the glory, but he was just there playing his break, and they were all having a good time playing.
