  • JAM SESSION WITH FARI we MHAZHI:
On Thursday, July 25th, I had a session with Fari while she was doing session work for another artist here at Monolio Studio. When we finished the session, I suggested we do a jam session, and here it is, with drummer Chidzomba on acoustic guitar.
She was born Farisai Rejoice Madungwe. She is an afro-fusion artist who began her musical career in 2010. She joined the Extreme Afrique Choir, led by Lyton Ngolomi and Bethany Pasinawako Ngolomi, and was groomed into a vibrant and energetic performer.
Her exceptional performing abilities were noticed by other artists with whom she later collaborated, including Victor Kunonga, Tanga WekwaSando, Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave, Mwendamberi, Mbeu, and Jay Watta, among others. The experience greatly enhanced her self-assurance to pursue a career as a solo artist in 2023, and subsequently joined forces with a musical group named Ngomandizvo.
As the year progresses, Farie is determined to achieve greater success, fully equipped to engage and inspire music enthusiasts. Her utmost desire is to showcase her talent and gain recognition on music platforms, including renowned international festivals, and to embark on tours both within Zimbabwe and abroad, proudly representing the Zimbabwean music industry.
The song 'Nguva' performed during this jam session serves as a farewell tribute to a deceased friend. In 2020, she experienced the loss of a friend due to Covid-19, which prompted her to write the song. I dedicate this song to the Kiposa family in remembrance of the late Andrew Kiposa, a veteran broadcaster and vocalist who passed away last week.
