- Today I'm shopping at thrift stores that I usually don't shop at! I'm at Goodwill and Savers Superstore to see what sort of vintage or antique bargains I can find!

Jeffrey, why didn’t you get the creamer & sugar that matched the poinsettia butter dish? The butter dish was sitting right in front of them. Would have been a nice table set.

I got tired at looking at all of the yard sale cast offs at Goodwill and their high prices. I quit going. As another commenter mentioned, you find better things and prices at antique malls and outdoor flea markets!

Always keep in mind that Goodwill is not a charity but a for profit business just like any other store. Despite their misleading advertising.
TY for teaching NOT to buy damaged goods! When I began in the antiques business I was willing to occasionally get items that had flaws- lessons learned and 22 years down the road, unless it is truly rare, like 18th century, I am not as gullible as I was. I enjoy the few sessions I have viewed- I wish you joy!
I’m brand new and it’s so hard not to from time to time. But…. I AM getting ready for a yard sale/ purge.
Goodwill prices are higher now than they used to be, I look around there once in a while and I see things priced way too high now. I think they look up prices on things on Ebay and try to come in a little under that.
I used to buy things from Goodwill all the time a couple years ago, because the prices were so good, now I think they got greedy and went corporate, so I rarely ever buy anything from them now.
The good prices are at garage sales now, and sometimes craigslist.

The prices you are seeing at Savers is what I've been seeing at our Goodwills for some time. It changed during the summer, I think. Really makes flipping a challenge.
Same. My local Goodwills are out of control with their prices. The day I saw a Dollar Tree plastic basket for $6.99 was the day I walked out & I haven’t been back since. I refuse to donate or shop there anymore.
I wondered why he didn’t grab that creamer and sugar to match the butter dish also 🙄

As my generation says, there were Slim Pickings at those stores. These days I prefer antique malls and flea markets for my treasure hunting. And RUclips sales, of course. Thanks Jeffrey. 🎄
Me too. Found 2 swung vases (1L.E. Smith, 1Fenton) and, a handkerchief compote style viking persimmon. And a beautiful art piece by Esperanza Martinez. All for under 30 dollars
Jeffrey IMO you should do you sale longer on Friday, like start at 5pm and end at 9pm. The reason being, of course you'll make more money but more so you buy so much and it's like playing catch-up.

Our Goodwill is pathetic there are 2 a little distance away I visit if I really want to find something.

Sadly the big thrift stores are so overpriced and putting poor/broken stock on shelves. I love finding a nice local resale shop or church run thrift store. And of course the antique malls are so fun! Looking forward to your next live.
I wonder sometimes if things break after they were put out on shelves. So, the price was before it broke.

The prices at our Goodwill stores seem high - almost retail. I think they're being more selective about what they sell and charging more, to increase profits. (???)
Goodwill has gone crazy with their prices and have done away with the colors in my stores except on Sundays. No daily discount colors anymore. Prices have gone so high compared to pre-pandemic.
We don’t have Savers where I live. The goodwill stores here are complete garbage…no thanks i don’t need dusty quilted geese from the 80s…I saw enough of that as a kid lol

Sheesh, and here I've been sad because I couldn't get to goodwill (Fairview one is the pits) and Savers, but it looks like I haven't missed anything!

I feel so bad for you Jeffrey 🥺 if your business relied solely on what you can find at Goodwill and Savers in your area it would be a miserable prospect. As I've said before, you guys need to take a trip here to Scottsdale Arizona. The Savers and Goodwills in general are always packed with great options. Although Savers tends to run more expensive than Goodwill, it's made up for with the types of and quality items that they receive in donation. Especially at our Northsite and Mesa locations. Savers still has a jewelry counter unlike Goodwill and their bagged wall is packed with stuff that has made me so much money over the last two years I can't even emphasize enough. In fact I search that before any other area. You guys need to plan a vacation here. You won't be disappointed 🙂🙂

I'm in Northern California. Sometimes the shelves are so packed that you have to be very careful that you don't knock something on the ground.
I have a nearby “Savers” (but where I live in Maryland, they’re called “Unique”) where I will often check the baggies first too. It’s a little treasure hunt! I’ve found so many neat things in them.
I loved the shamrock ornament. I looked it up and there's one listed on Etsy and eBay and they both say Bradford exchange. A really pretty pretty piece 😍
When you look at Christmas items do you look for things Barb might want? We dont have a Savers where I'm at but our good will is pathetic. Thanks for cheering me up today.
It’s interesting how different Goodwill’s are all across the country. I was visiting a friend in LA back in September and so I thought it would be fun to visit a store there. What a disappointment. It was an absolute dud. I mean, they had tons of clothes, but for hard-goods and collectibles, the shelves were almost bare. My friend’s daughter said everything at LA thrift store’s gets scooped up fast with nothing left for others. In other words, I’m thinking the LA resellers are at the doors waiting for them to open. When they do, it isn’t long before all the good stuff is gone. Too bad. In the Goodwill’s in my area, the employees put out stock throughout the day. So when I show up , often in the afternoon, I’ve often been able to still get some good stuff.
oh i know this location! someone i know used to work there, the reason the savers is so bad is because they recently (think past couple months) went through a major management upheaval. that savers in particular just does NOT care about their workers. really went down the drain, crazy to see it on video since we left!
They keep up that pricing and they will put themselves out of business...more and more people I run into at goodwill and a lot of them complain about prices

My Goodwil and Savers is like yours. Goodwill doesn't have alot of hard goods and Savers loves to over price broken items.

I scored a set of three Lefton leprechauns today at Goodwill for only $3.99. I figured it was a good score. My Goodwill has way more to offer. Thank Goodness!!
I bought and donated to the Goodwill store very close to where I live for several years. The pandemic caused me to not go my Goodwill for over two years,and when I recently visited the store I was so disappointed. The goods were inferior and so overpriced, the dressing rooms had been torn out, many items had been culled including most toys, and no more discounts would be offered such as color of the day and senior citizen discount. I will drop,in occasionally to see if there are substantial improvements, but I miss the fun of looking for that certain hidden treasure.
Goodwill’s are hit or miss and since the pandemic, inflation etc. it is a big “miss”. I hate it when Goodwill asks if you want to round up what you pay🤣
I wish I could have that Spice of Life turkey roasting pan. Mine broke a couple of months ago and I miss it😔
Is it even worth gas and time to go to your local Goodwill and Savers. Seems pretty sparse. Not very interesting.
