- First off, this video is inspired by a comment from @tonyp9313 , he had mentioned that Mortal Kombat for Sega CD was the easiest version, as the difficulty levels played accordingly. Now I love this version of Mortal Kombat, so I was excited to revisit this. Is he right however? Watch as I play through this amazing game! I really love the sprite animation speed on this sega cd version! Better than the snes and even arcade imho, there’s a vid that shows a side by side comparison if anyone wanna check it out
It's losing framerates though. It been faster than the arcade version means it's cutting the arcade framerates in halves.
You'll notice that the game also play the track at the wrong stage too, the Pit theme song was play at the Courtyard which doesn't feel right.
Off Topic Random Thought: If only any Mk Hack or HomeBrew had some sorts of renditions of BGM Tracks from the 1995 Mk Movie.
I never understood why Probe seemed to intentionally re-order the stage music for every single MK port they ever did. I don't think it was a mistake; they always did it. They apparently thought they knew better than Midway regarding which song should go with which stage. But even THAT doesn't make sense, because the Genesis MK port had music ordered differently than the Sega CD port, and both were wrong.
Well, the Genesis version of MK had an absolute banger of an OST, far better than the arcade. One of the rare instances where this happened. Matt Furniss who composed the OST for the Genesis version was a legit and any project he worked on was impressive.
Becuase Probe was absolute trash. Just compare MK3 SNES vs Genesis, its so close. Probes MKs were horrendous on looks and sound
😱 Nostalgia for real. I got this as a kid on special for $19.99 from Electronics Boutique. All I would do is talk about it at school. People would tell me to shut up about it. That Mortal Monday trailer intro. God I loved this version
That intro commercial is awesome but last time I made a video for this version, because Hypnotic House by The Immortals plays during it I got slapped with potential copyright for “using their music” so I skipped the commercial for this video.

One thing I miss is how Sega would put out 'enhanced' editions for each MK release. MK1 got the Sega CD treatment, and MK2 got the 32X treatment. Some things went well, some not so well, but it was always fun seeing what Sega could do with a little more technology and money at the time.
Someone should make a hack of this version correcting the music. I always liked how this one sounded, and all the missing frames of animation are restored on sega cd.
Thank you for playing this & mentioning me in the video. I said "Very Easy" you played it on a higher difficulty setting. Anyways it seemed easy enough on "Easy". I didn't know you were going to mention me. 1st time a bigger channel or huge one mentions a channel that has what I don't even know how many subs I have like 10 lol. I don't know.
When I play the arcade version of this game, it's very hard for whatever reason. I think it's the hardest out of all of them the Arcade version of 1 compared to 2 & 3.

@@BushyStallion Yeah for sure. That's the thing with retro single player games. You can play them over & over again. Unlike Modern single player games where you play them 1-2 times maybe usually once & then toss them on the shelf & never play them again.
Nice one ! for the Shang Tsung fight the music switch to the genesis because the sega cd cannot play audio track and load assets from the cd ( watch on the endurance matches the music stops for the loading ).
After all those playtroughts you have to do the amiga one and the dos cd.

Play the N64, PS1 and Sega Saturn versions of Mortal Kombat Trilogy (aka the final updated version of Mortal Kombat 3). And by the way, the Sega CD version of MK1 is best played with a Sega Genesis 6-button controller.
I’ll be revisiting the N64 version of Trilogy again soon 👊🏼
This looks surprisingly bad compared to the arcade. I guess that's why the PS1 ports where such a big deal, they where almost identical to the arcade.
Yeah unfortunately the Sega CD really only had more storage for data and better sound, but the graphics are still only 64 colours I believe so it was basically it was a Genesis on CD format.
I remember seeing this at either and electronics boutique or kaybee toys and had to have it when it came out. Truth be told, it spent more time in my cd player than it did in my sega cd. I loved the included game soundtrack, but when i heard techno syndrome, i completely lost it with excitement. It also includes remixes and an extended version of techno syndrome. I absolutely loved this version for the soundtrack alone... and that BEAUTIFUL pixel fest commercial at the start of the game. 👊

This is a good version , but the tracks are off for each stage , maybe you should do version comparison of the Music tracks , MK1, MK2, MK3 - the arcade and console versions

Easy way to beat Shang Tsung in the Sega CD version is hold down and use low kick. If timed right, he never changes.

i’ve got the sega CD console there wasn’t that many games for it when compared to the genesis was there? it was sega first try at CD format as I think the saturn came after the genesis 😅

Nope. Would’ve been cool but I’m pretty sure Mortal Kombat 2 Unlimited is as close as you can get, oh and guess what? Because you mentioned that version before, I currently have a copy being sent my way, I bought one off eBay finally lol
