    THIS STORY:
Fourteen years after a drunken driving crash killed Eva Burleson and her three children, a former McHenry man who spent more than a decade behind bars for their deaths pleaded guilty to driving under the influence FOR THE SECOND TIME.
Walter J. Depner, 62, of Mount Prospect, admitted Monday he was driving intoxicated February 2013, near the site of the crash that killed the 34-year-old mother and her children: Daniel, 13; Tiffany, 11; and Dallis, 7.
The family dog also was killed.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
    Some are famous.
    And some infamous....
    ....and some with tragic endings.

It's unfortunate that drunk driving fatalities are considered a mistake and that people essentially get a slap on the wrist for killing others. It should be treated more like murder.

As someone who has lost friends and family to drunk drivers, this story crushes me and then it brings back all of the anger. I will never understand why people drive drunk. Of course some would still drive without a license but I am sure at least a certain percentage would be off the street. Driving should be a priviledge not a right.

What a tragic story. Tom has to be one of the strongest men on the planet to be able to move forward after so much loss. Then to possibly have lost a newborn with his new wife years later. He is definitely a warrior. I hope he has other children. I pray for his family. I believe he has endured more than his fair share of tragedy in life.
I did not know of this story. I pray that he has finally learned his lesson and no longer drinks - and if he drinks he doesn't drive. Alcoholism is a disease. But he gets the choice to drive or not so I pray he chooses correctly. He is just lucky he didn't kill anybody in the 2nd accident. He got far too little time for killing 4 people in the 1st place. They make hooch in prison. So he could have been still drinking in there too.

I'm shocked by how short Depner's original sentence was and stunned he didn't get the maximum sentence for the second offense. I believe DUI's that end up killing someone should be treated like murder and not homicide in the legal system and sentences should be much more severe.

Ron, thank you for the courtesy you show the deceased. You don't walk on the graves,, put flowers on graves and what touches my heart the most is you always say to a military grave..."thank you for your service", always respectful the way you tell their story. As a widow of a military man, I thank you very much.

the husband Tom is a remarkable man and we can learn a valuable life lesson from him that being the importance of forgiveness not only to forgive the responsible person but to let go the negetive feelings that only hurt the victims further Tom's a inspiration to us all I wish him the best he certainly deserves it

I'm so sorry for Tom who lost his entire family and the dog in one lovely afternoon. I'm not sure how he's managed. That drunk of course survived -- they always do. He should have never gotten out of prison. Laws are too lax where this occurred. RIP to this lovely family. To the drunk- Rot in hell.

I used to be a medic and we rolled on a call of pedestrians vs auto. When we got there, three children had been hit by a drunk driver killing one child instantly and injuring the other two who were pronounced dead at the hospital. He had 9 prior drunk driving citations. He was of course convicted and sent to prison for killing these girls. He died in prison of a brain tumor.
If he hadn’t died, I feel very sure he would have killed others while driving drunk.
I can’t imagine losing my whole family to something so senseless.
My heart breaks for this family.

These kinds of stories scare me! Seems every time my kids would leave the house the sirens go off and I worry constantly about an accident.....that poor father.....I dont think I could survive loosing my whole family...that drunk should have gotten a life sentence, that father certainly did! Amazing he had a forgiving heart.

I can’t imagine being able to live after that. I don’t think I’d want to. We had a terrible incident like this here in the Toronto area a few years ago. A 30 yr old man killed a grandfather and his 3 grandchildren driving drunk, leaving the parents with no children. 💔💔💔
