I’ve got the Jackery 1000, I made a lead to plug in to it and plug in to the EHU. Then i control it with my Sargent. Ware off / charger etc. it works the coffee maker and the air fryer and tv for a couple of days, I don’t want to have it wired in permanently as I use it elsewhere. Great video and really helpful info and enjoyed as always.

Thanks Steve. I can see the use for a separate standalone unit for people who don't want a full install or are just weekend camping. It would also be a useful back up if an installed system went down. With the added advantage of being portable if needed.
    Price is quite reasonable too.
Nice to see you back. Look forward to your next one.
Perhaps you could do one on building your own power bank!

Yes, this power pack seems about the right size without being too bulky for the power output.
I have thought about making my own battery bank. Maybe in the future.
But these types of power banks seem to be getting more powerful and compact that it’s almost not worth it..!

Great test and informative results. There is also the possibility of using outdoor heating and cooking methods like fire and gas stoves. This obviously depends on where you are and the local laws!

Hi, thank you, glad it helped.👍
We do use a small gas BBQ outside as well sometimes when we're travelling.

I don’t suppose you know if you can prioritise the charging source if dual charging? I’m after a shed supply where I’d like Solar to be the primary charger, where mains charging would only commence when the battery dropped to (say) 10%.

      Hi,
No, you can't prioritise the charge with this unit...
Unfortunately it doesn't do 'pass through' charging either, which is a shame.
Charge wise, it's either mains, solar or both together. ( or from a car cigarette port. But that takes years..!)
      Hope that help you,
      ATB, Steve

@@TheWrinklyNomads Thanks for the response Steve. It seems to me that all of these units are good, but there is always a compromise. For my specific shed ‘problem’ a solar charger and a low current trickle charger both connected to a leisure battery seems like the best solution for charging, but it’s not ideal. (I’m after off-grid, but with a fridge…)

@dwalsh3469 have you considered a small chest freezer instead of a fridge? Mine has a thermostat to allow fridge temps. Obviously much more efficient than a front opening fridge.

I hadn’t, but thanks for the suggestion. I just happen to already have a reasonably decent fridge. @@jonb6660

I have one use it to keep the fridge on otherwise it only lasts about 20 mins with the microwave on

      Only 20 minutes….
That must be a pretty powerful microwave?
I think it’s all down to trail and error with these types of power packs though.
And working around what they can (and can’t) actually do…
