I am not Dine, but I enjoy listening and learning from Grandfather Wally. The wisdom is a pleasurable thing to listen to, and learn from. I am a 71 year old White guy, but still try to learn all of value I can, and I enjoy your lessons. Thank you, sir!

Dine translation is five fingered being. How are you not?
What stands out too me is they were led by "The Holy People" 1900 years ago to settle in the Southwest in an Area where Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints settled that brought with them a Book about a People that settled in the America's under very similar circumstances. It is my Assertion that by whatever path or Circumstance the Navajo people were called to settle in that region 1900 years ago that their Story is True. I have no opinion as to whether they had a direct connection to that Story, but rather with the Knowledge that came from The Holy Spirit that the Book is True, and the Knowledge that Came with it taught me that indeed we are All Dineh.

Well said. Very few people call out the deceptions, especially in a public setting. This takes great courage. One of the good nicknames for Grandfather Wally would be The Mailman because he always delivers.
Our ego wants to hear all the flattery. Compliments are positive sometimes. Noticing the good in others and saying so. It's the manipulation that is wrong. Dine have much practical wisdom for us all. Thank you, Grandfather!

This one particular teaching should be taught to ALL PEOPLES from a very young age. So many are lead astray by those "sweet words." Compliments, pats on the back, promises, even a handshake can be a way of leading people the wrong way. We should question EVERYTHING someone says to us! Do they have an ulterior motive? What might they gain from this? What do they want?
This is a very important teaching. Thank you so much for addressing this.

This is, arguably, your best teaching
This is so true, I find that there are those who, lie first. I was raised to take people at their word. This is a lesson that has come with much pain. The ones who hurt you the most are those you trust the most. They know how to deceive you as they know you. Take time to think before you make decisions. Base your decisions based on facts not emotions. Everyone has a sob story, it is not your job to fix everyone’s problems. First make sure you can help someone before you commit, or agree to something which may end up costing everything. Sad thing is most of the time when you do help, they just get take and do not reciprocate. You are stuck holding the bag while they go on to the next victim.

Thank you for your teachings and words of Wisdom Elder Wally! When you started talking about "pretty words" leading people a stray and away from what is right... my first thoughts were politicians. The people who become politicians are masters of speaking without saying anything. They want authority, power, and money for themselves and tell lies to the general population to keep the peoples confidence. It's sad that politicians don't embrace the idea to try to make the world a better place than when they found it. The government should pass a law that politicians do not get paid maybe then the correct people would become politicians so they would live with the world and not in it. But sadly politicians are just like the shadow people who delight in deceiving us and cause mischief and disharmony.
