Will woolite and ammonia remove the green discoloration in the sabre mask bib??
Are there any alternative detergents? I live in asia and we dont have woolite, can you recommend anything other than woolite?

DEANER 160 it will “mostly” remove the green and improve conductivity. Not sure about other detergents but I think you can use a powder because some people wash their mask in the dishwasher.

cristina d Yes you can. I don’t have one, so not sure which soap to use. I just clean the mask and lame at the same time.

Bare steel blade = sand paper
Colored (blue) blade = steel wool (pot scrubber)

@@phillipdanielvincent9209 is it alright to sand a sabre blade? I was worried about it affecting the conductivity since it doesn't have an internal wire like a foil or epee, the edge of the steel itself is live

Fiona Tsang you have to remove the rust from the blade or it will be less conductive, break easier, and get other fencers’ uniforms dirty. Don’t want to make the blade thin, just want to remove rust. Sand by hand using a sponge not with a machine. Blade doesn’t have to be shiny. Better for it to be gray than black or brown. (Can’t sand a colored blade.)
