I had a red one in 1981, didn't have a licence and had to sell it. This film made me remember my bike and the wonderfull sound if made. I really miss it😢
Compared to modern bikes these old 70's classics have so much individual character and even though they seem underpowered they are in my opinion much more enjoyable to ride.
If you opened the throttle, I swear that you could hear a whistle coming from the fuel cap as it gobbled petrol. Mine once did 20MPG. Also prone to spitting baffles out of the exhausts.
Tre Bien!- Estilio!- ACE Vid! #1st GT550 vid with proper original thrash takes me back to smashing up my Fs1E and having a lift 11 Miles a day and the older guy was always late picking me up- but we were never late for work! Beautiful!- i still cant love 4-strokes 43 yrs later! Merci boucoup.
I had a '72 with Bassani chambers, milled head ,ported intake, and oversized bore kits ! It snapped right at 5800 rpm - if you gassed it and werent holding on it would litterally jump right out of your hands !!
ma plus belle moto...preparation cordier, bol d or...acheté apres...3 detentes,un phare et hop on the road....ce son ,ce moteur ...genial !! merci pour la video !! la pousser dans les tours pour bien la degorgée et la le moteur respire..bravo
Awesome video, a buddy of mine had one of these and I rode as a passenger a few times on it, brings back lots of memories like the time we blew through a toll road and he told me to cover up the license plate lol 😆 ..!
Damn that makes me miss mine !!! I had a 73 and went cross country on it in the fall of 1980. In NM I went to the Aspencade MC rally. A lot of folks there were checking out my bike. I had a blue GT550 blue. I sure miss it.
A la prochain mon brave. I had a GT380 in the late seventies and loved it. Thinking of getting one of these now as they are so much better value than say the GT750.
Who said that the GT550 isn't envioronmentally friendly?? This one is very green..... He certainly like to live life on the edge taking a GT550 fast down a twisty road.....
That's just made my spine tingle, oh how I miss those wonderful days in the 70's of screaming bikes every where.
I love the sound of a three cylinder 2 stroke engine.

Had the same bike! ...For every gallon of gas I put in it, I would put a half gallon of oil. It was a fun bike to ride and I just loved the sound.
I'm sure you're exaggerating. I had a GT50 and used about 1 qt of oil for every 450-500 miles.
