The entire soundtrack of Heroes of Might and Magic III is pure Gold, but Lava and Snow are the two that are fighting for "my favorite theme" - at least among map themes. I absolutely love this track in the background.

It is fascinating that so few of Romero's terrain themes ever exactly sound like what you would call a stereotypical theme for the terrain. Grass doesn't sound grasslands, snow doesn't sound snowlands and this definitely doesn't sound like hell or anything alike, and yet each of the themes fit beyond perfection to the game, creating such an unique almost surreal atmosphere.
