As a giant pirate crossover, first with Pendragon, then with Jack Sparrow, I fully expect Peter Pan and Hook to make appearances at some point. Hopefully not the Disney ones, I'm more pushing for some appearances more closely-aligned with the pre-Disney-fied fairy tales.
Imagine if, waaaaay down the road, we were fighting a physical manifestation of Hook and showing him your pocketwatch made him vulnerable for a few seconds, as the lantern does for night skellies...
If this happens I'd love hooks jacket and hat as rewards, Though, we'll likely only get a full costume which is depressing. I feel like we haven't gotten real clothing options in a while. OOoh I just thought of getting the Jolly Roger's ship livery, that'd be fun too.
I just want rings or other hand cosmetics, it's the only thing you consistently see on your own pirate after all. I am the furthest thing from vain and care nothing for what others think of my appearance. It is only for utility or my own amusement.
I think a lot of people are misunderstanding what Hook would be if it was indeed him. I think it's likely it wouldn't be just the Disney version, but moreso a composite amalgamation of the various Hooks throughout the adaptations of the original work, and said original as well. If there is influence from the Disney version, I hope that would specifically be some kind of vocal nod to Hans Conried, as his performance was so perfect that I forever associate him with the character. Also, manipulation also fits very nicely into a Hook reveal. In the original story and adaptations, Hook is especially clever and cunning with how he manipulates the people around Peter. Him trying to rally the Sea's pirates against Ramsey (and also Flameheart, I imagine, to ensure no competition) would be entirely in character.
Oh I could see them having hook popping up at points as a normal "human" with both visual and vocal nods to Conried's Hook, trying to minuplate us as a "Good Guy" and other points popping up as a skeleton form that would use more aspects of the non-disney adaptations
I'd be fine if Hook got added to the game but if he turned out be the Cap'n, the big bad villain who scares even Flameheart that the game (and extended universe) has been building up to for years since the game released, I'd be pretty disappointed. I want the Cap'n, and the mystery of who he is, to be tied to the game world itself rather than having a completely new character being brought in. I personally think the captain is going to be revealed to be a well known pre-existing character in a surprising turn of events so I doubt it's Hook Ramsey on the other hand...
As much as I want ramsey to be the capn, Im pretty sure they wont do that. They’d have to remove his cinematics from the lotv, the captaincy tutorial, and a few tall tale parts. I guess they could replace him with Belle which would be pretty cool but still unlikely sadly.
I severely doubt it's going to be Hook from the animated film if it is him. Judging by how he addresses people and the fact that he was the previous captain of the Burning Blade AND cursed Flameheart Jr, I doubt it's going to be the same pirate who got coerced by children into calling himself a codfish as well as screaming "SMEEEEEE" everytime he was in particular danger. They're not going to make him a joke; not with the intimidating reputation they've been building for him in-game.
I really hope that Hook isn’t the Cap’n. At least not the Disney one. I really don’t want this game to just become a massive Disney crossover, full of Peter Pan and POTC. If it’s just a version of Hook, like how Flameheart is a version of LeChuck, then I think it’ll be okay. But I’d be pissed if it’s the Disney one lol
I wouldn't really say fh is a version of lechuck, he's more his own person that just so happens to pay homage to him. I would want hook himself to show up as a different, darker version as you said
Hook is a really good villain, in fact, the first iteration of the captain was far more cruel and insane. If they bring him into the sea of thieves, theres a good chance that it won't be the one from Disney, but more something coming out of the 2003 movie made by P.J Hogan (a version of Hook that is targetting to be more accurate to the original story)
I feel like we’ve already seen him. I feel like he’s the cursed captain we see during tall tale 1, he starts out all goofy and seems like a good guy but ends up being a manipulative evil genius. I feel like this is sea of thieves version of hook because well, he does in fact have a hook
I think it's possible that Tony is in on Demarco's death and deliberately put the people who Ramsey hired to kill him on his ship but other than that I doubt he's that bad (so long as he stays away from potentially flamable buildings of course).

I am in the middle on this. If they do bring Hook in, I hope they make him a more fairy tale like Hook and not like the Disney hook. I also don’t want them to leave the current story in the dust again. We’re finally building to something, I don’t want a detour from it. Hook also being the big bad after Flameheart would suck if it’s the Disney version, but we’ll see what happens. I trust Rare TLDR: I hope they do it right or else it would kinda stink
Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates Cartoon had the huge and very scary Captn Hook and Long Tom the movable cannon. They need to add crocks and noisy pocket watches
This is exciting, but I hope that Hook isnt "the Captain" as that would completely mess up the Cursed Captain theory where the letter in the 4th pirates life talltale has the rearranged symbols of the Cursed Captains sails... and, well... the Cursed Captain isnt what I wouldve expected Sot's Hook to look like, nor his ship.
Has anyone noticed how Pirate Lord has a sick grin every time he comes to give you a tutorial or when he is rambling on about the Veil Stones when you are busy throwing Blunder Bombs at your crew? Just me?

I think it's similar in that aspect but aging does clearly still exist in that world and as we learned with Demarco, death isn't a joke like we thought

Another set of evidence that could be looked at is the Lost Pirates Emote Bundle that was in the emporium that had Pan movie emotes and references this might be a stretch but can this mean that they intended or still intend on adding the pan movie collab in the near future. Not Disney's peter pan

If you find Captain Hook's Introduction from Peter Pan 1953, word Cap'n appears a few times. To find more probably should do a full rewatch of entire cartoon. So I guess, would not be a surprise if its our Sea of Thieves Capn. Also, Captain Hook cartoon character is owned by Disney (or maybe by public now, don't know). Rare with Disney are partners after all, so legally should be no issues either.
If Hook is involved this might bring a new world event. It could be like a skelly fleet but it’s just hooks ship which is hard to sink. The noise for the event could be his laugh.

It would be really awesome if it really is Captain Hook! I love his extravagant aesthetics and Lore. But I might add: In "Peter Pan" it is said that Hook was 1. "Blackbeard's Bosun" and 2. "the only man, of whom Barbecue was afraid" (Barbeque is the Nickname of Long John Silver from Treasure Island.) So, if it really is Captain Hook, it more or less makes the existence of folks like Blackbeard, Long John Silver and Captain Flint, Jim Hawkins and so on canon to the SoT. Blackbeard being canon to the Pirates of the Caribbean- franchise as well, has an even higher chance of showing up in the future somehow. I really want to see the epic clashes between those legendary captains, it would be so cool.

Honestly, I was expecting LeChuck, due to the prior Monkey Island reference in A Pirate's Life as well as the buzz over the upcoming Monkey Island game. But, this makes more sense.

Been playing since day one and I can tell you I knew he would be in the game at some point. The Athena's fortune is a nod to the Cap in the first place. As well as the world looking striking likeNeverland. There is so much more from earlier then these events shown in the vid.
You could even say the symbol at the top right of the note is a Pirate with a big hate and feather sticking out. At least that is what I saw. Good video!
Admittedly I had a feeling we'd get Captain hook ever since that secret message you can find in the cave within one of the PoTC tall tales. He's a famous Pirate. They were talking about some Captain. SoT now has a tie in with Disney and the Disney universe. After giving the fans the BIGGEST crossover they wanted. It'd make sense for them to go on and release another. Being a huge fan of the Kingdom hearts games (Or at least the earlier ones). I'd love to see a deeper dive into that side. And while I do definitely appreciate SoT having more Original content. I can't say it doesn't tickle that Childhood of mine.
If they introduce him as his Dustin Hoffman design I will go nuts. I always loved his outfit and Spielberg’s Jolly Roger with the skeleton prow was visually stunning. Let’s cross out fingers!
Plot twist, the pirate lord is Peter Pan (Hook movie version), it's why he's always so up beat and defending the sea of thieves without Tinkerbell and noone ages in that world

I do hope so, but didn’t you forget something, there’s a ship wreck in the pirates life area, whose captains quarters and more specifically the captains chair, I’m not saying it is the Jolly Roger but, it does bare a striking resemblance to Captain Hooks chair seen in the films. I think Rob Raven may have stumbled across it and asked the question on stream! It was very odd!

I want it known, Fairies draw their power from more then just the Sun. Hell the most relevent fairy to a pirate/sailor setting like Sea of Thieves besides Tinkerbell is the Silkie that has the ability to change between a Human and a Seal aka Sea Dog form and they actually gained their power from the moon.
The sovereign at Ancient Spire Outpost claims him, "Shoulders Patterson" and "One-Eyed Baz" crashed a solid gold galleon, could this connect to the fairy dust teleportation?
I love to have more fantasy pirate crossover in the game, like Captain Flint or John Silver for example. But I have never thought about Hook. That would be awesome tho
Okay what. I never noticed that the Black Pearl turned gold before it sailed into the portal. ALL of this just makes so much sense I'd be surprised if it's NOT Captain Hook.

I think id have to say that this is my most favorite theory as of yet. Captain hook is my all time favorite character and i have been trying to replicate his design into my in game player character (and possibly ship with the jolly rodger as my galleon). I would rejoice if he does make it to the sea of thieves!
I know im late to the party here because i just got back into SoT after a couple of years. But one thing i noticed that i dont think many people are pointing out another clue with the note that the captain sent to Davy Jones. In the top right where the skull icon is, you can see what appears the be a large feather poking out. This JUST SO HAPPENS to be another key feature of captain Hooks design. But it must be just a coincidence right??
I think he Lilly won’t be a skelly captain to begin with at lest, due to Wanda already being one, I think they will want more variety when they add him to the dark berthen. Also the feather in the cap on the letter might be a hint as well

Been playing since day one and I can tell you I knew he would be in the game at some point. The Athena's fortune is a nod to the Cap in the first place. As well as the world looking striking likeNeverland. There is so much more from earlier then these events shown in the vid.
If it is Hook, I want to see Tinkerbell make a genuine appearance as well, maybe even Pan himself, too. Gosh that'd be really neat.
You could even say the symbol at the top right of the note is a Pirate with a big hate and feather sticking out. At least that is what I saw. Good video!

If they introduce him as his Dustin Hoffman design I will go nuts. I always loved his outfit and Spielberg’s Jolly Roger with the skeleton prow was visually stunning. Let’s cross out fingers!

Plot twist, the pirate lord is Peter Pan (Hook movie version), it's why he's always so up beat and defending the sea of thieves without Tinkerbell and noone ages in that world
After the Captain Hook event, the next planned crossover will be with Cap'n Crunch

I do hope so, but didn’t you forget something, there’s a ship wreck in the pirates life area, whose captains quarters and more specifically the captains chair, I’m not saying it is the Jolly Roger but, it does bare a striking resemblance to Captain Hooks chair seen in the films. I think Rob Raven may have stumbled across it and asked the question on stream! It was very odd!

I want it known, Fairies draw their power from more then just the Sun. Hell the most relevent fairy to a pirate/sailor setting like Sea of Thieves besides Tinkerbell is the Silkie that has the ability to change between a Human and a Seal aka Sea Dog form and they actually gained their power from the moon.
The sovereign at Ancient Spire Outpost claims him, "Shoulders Patterson" and "One-Eyed Baz" crashed a solid gold galleon, could this connect to the fairy dust teleportation?

I love to have more fantasy pirate crossover in the game, like Captain Flint or John Silver for example. But I have never thought about Hook. That would be awesome tho

I think id have to say that this is my most favorite theory as of yet. Captain hook is my all time favorite character and i have been trying to replicate his design into my in game player character (and possibly ship with the jolly rodger as my galleon). I would rejoice if he does make it to the sea of thieves!

Another thing about that container, it bares a resemblance to the loot item commonly called a trapper. Trapping what? Fairies perhaps.
I know im late to the party here because i just got back into SoT after a couple of years. But one thing i noticed that i dont think many people are pointing out another clue with the note that the captain sent to Davy Jones. In the top right where the skull icon is, you can see what appears the be a large feather poking out. This JUST SO HAPPENS to be another key feature of captain Hooks design. But it must be just a coincidence right??
I think he Lilly won’t be a skelly captain to begin with at lest, due to Wanda already being one, I think they will want more variety when they add him to the dark berthen. Also the feather in the cap on the letter might be a hint as well
A thought comes to mind. What if in the Demarco mystery the siren queen was acting on behalf of the Captain
