Just to clarify some things from the video.
For the polygamy, in religion it is stated in Quran that marrying up to 4 women is allowed only if they can be completely fair and give them equal rights. However exactly in the verse right after, it says "you won't be able to do that anyways". So many scholars say that it's a way to say that you actually shouldn't marry a second wife. And that it will only be making you a not fair person to your wives which is bad. But the religion still gives them the chance to try. This chance is what many men use in their favour to justify their unreasonable and uncontrollable thirst, by actually gaslighting women and those who defend them and say "are you going to defy God's words? He gave me permission " but he forgets that god told him that he will not be successful in being fair.
It's a patriotic way of thinking and taking advantage of the religion that is bad. The woman ofc has the right to ask for divorce if she doesn't want him to have polygamy. She can simply leave. But it's still sad.
About smoking, in religion IT IS forbidden like she said because it harms the body. But many people do smoke different things and it's not illegal in many muslim countries but that doesn't mean it's permitted in the religion itself as the religion is independent from whatever policies the county takes on.

Also, In the case of polygamy - in Islam if you have the finances and time to support more than one woman, the 2nd/3rd or 4th wife should all be women who would usually find it difficult to get married due to societies bias.
For example: Widow, infertile, elderly, disabled. It is a way to take them in and protect them from loneliness and lack of income if their disability affects their ability to work etc and they can't rely on their parents forever.

So we should not destruct/harm ourselves. Also spending money on cigarettes/vape/… is spending money on harmful things so… ifykyk

I want to clarify some things not about Islam but about few minor things mentioned. First, she mentioned that beef is sacred for Indians but I want to correct this saying that rather for Indians it is specifically for and only sacred for Hindus of the Hindu religion and not all Indians. Because as an Indian Christian myself my state (Kerala) has a lot of beef dishes/foods and we eat beef a lot here as there’s a lot of Muslims and Christians in Kerala, India. And ofc you won’t go to jail for that. Just that it’s only for the Hindu religion only.
Another thing is that, just like Islam, in Christianity we are NOT allowed to eat pork. It’s even written in the Bible that it’s unclean and not supposed to be eaten. I have even been forbidden from eating it by my parents and grandparents too. But it’s just taken lightly by Christians.

    • @borntobereal2004

Most of the christians eat pork and even in movies and stuff, I always saw them eating it. It was really hard for me at abroad since most non-veg dishes were made of pork. But it's really insightful to know that it's not the case for christians either! We are similar in this case then, haha.

The 4 wives part isn't explained well at all , what people forget every time is that since the birth of humanity there were a lot of cultures or most of them allowing polygamy in a big number or allow having concubines so back then when you think about it correctly islam didn't call for people to have many wives BUT they restricted the number indeed to 4 (compared to what happened at that time) and so they also gave them a noble title for example no more concubines but she must be your wife THERE FOR she gains her rights back (like access to your money and others right islam stated between the two spouse

Also, alcohol itself is not haram because foods like fruit or bread contains it. We call the haram alcohol as khamr. Which are the liquid byproduct of fermentation. I don't know if it's the translation problem or what.. It's about the part with smoking. I don't know if it's Haram or Makhruh for cigarette or cigars, but DRUGS is definitely Haram. Drugs a.k.a narcotics or psychotropics or even weeds/ganja/Marijuana are intoxicant because they mess with your mind/thinking, just like what alcohols did (being drunk).

    • @AmyK27
      @AmyK27 Год назад

Drugs and alcohol are haram because they are intoxicants (alcohol also causes harm to the body in the long run).
Cigarettes are haram because they solely cause harm to the body. Cigarettes did not exist in the time of the Qur'an and the hadiths hence no direct mention of them and why so many people nowadays don't consider them haram.
But the Qur'an says that we are not supposed to harm our body in any way and anything that causes harm to the body becomes haram for us. Nowadays with the advancement of medical science, it is proven and well known how toxic and harmful smoking is for the body. It causes countless types of cancers and diseases of the throat, lungs and heart. It is a slow poison that shortens your life span with every cigarette you smoke. So all the good scholars of today's generation have concluded that cigarettes are in fact haram and the one smoking them is sinning.

There is a comment thread here which goes long on the matter of polygamy so for everyone in that thread I will say that the girl in the video said the most accurate thing. Polygamy is not an easy thing to do but doing it is not forbidden as well, so we shouldn’t go to the extreme of vilifying it as patriotic tyranny and we also shouldn’t be too lenient saying a man can do whatever he wants with these women, it’s marriage not dating, there are responsibilities and financial justice must be uphold. So the actual consensus stance IS the middle ground the girl mentions in the video.

About polygamy. A man can't have sex with the four, three, or even two women together. Each on their own.
There is also a detail she didn't mention that in the same page in Quran that says a man can marry 4 woman, it was said that 1 is better than marrying 4 if they are unsure of being fair to them. To marry 4 he shouldn't just need to be financially providing for both, but emotionally as well. And if they can't do that it said to marry only one wife. (aka to be just and if they were scared or unsure of being just then it's preferred to be with one)
To add, the reason wasn't just war, but also political and cultural communications. Tribes used to hold truce and open up to each other by marriage. So it also was used to combine the tribes. They used to live far away from each other and marriage became a way to form connections. There's also war.
A man can still marry 4 till these days, but as I said it is preferred to have one.
One more thing, Islam didn't prefer men over woman, neither preferred woman over men. In Islam each gender has it's role. The hard tasks was assigned to men like going to war and women were trusted to raise their children. Despite having different roles both genders are equal in Islam, so both are obligated to learn and grow and they can have jobs and live their lives normally.

I just want to go through some comments within this video:
    Polygamy question:
    2:34 min_"Men above Women":
The girl was right about it if we talk about culture, but in the religion, there is equality between the two genders.
    04:05 min_"Legalization of cheating":
We cannot compare two different things such as cheating and polygamy. Cheating involves having a relationship outside of marriage that leads to a lot of problems. On the other hand, polygamy aims to protect men from engaging in prohibited actions in our religion, like cheating. Polygamy has a positive impact on society, such as providing for widows and caring for their orphans. Additionally, if a man wants to marry a second woman, he will not be obliged to divorce his first wife (if they still have a good relationship) and potentially leave his children (if he has any) growing up without their father, and the list of benefits of polygamy goes on. THERE IS ONLY ONE CONDITION TO ALLOW POLYGAMY FOR ANY MAN: he must be capable of being fair to his wives and treating them equally
    Pork question:
9:10 min_"There is no law in religion, right? Religion is just a religion itself."
For us as Muslims, religion is our way of life; it guides us. So, religion is a law for us and encompasses everything, even minor aspects. You just need to delve deeply into our holy book and the practices of our prophet, and you will definitely find the answers to your questions.
    9:56 min_ Cigarettes question:
Just because everyone does it, that doesn't mean it's allowed, and we shouldn't generalize because not all Muslims are smoking. In Islam religion : everything that harms you or others around you is forbidden in Islam. Therefore, cigarettes are not allowed.
Huge thanks to Deena: I know that you have limited time, so you couldn't delve deeply into each question and explain them perfectly.
For the Giggle team: It would be better if you had more episodes where you go through these questions and explain them in more detail and perhaps invite a scholar as well. Thank you for this video.

The Qur'an does not give men the right to have more than one wife. It is considered more of a responsibility to ensure social justice. For example, when a widow is unsafe, he can marry her to protect her, or during the war when several men died. A man can marry up to only 4 wives, and each of the marriage should be because of a reasonable reason. Also, when marrying the second wife, he needs the permission of the first wife.

In Malaysia, our Mufti has made decision that smoking is HARAM. it's because of the effect of smoking that not only harm the smokers but also all people's around him esp his family. But still there are still a lot of Muslims can't avoid smoking.

Please invite some actual scholar that knows Islam. The sister explained things from what she perceives things as, not what Islam actually says. Not saying she was completely wrong though. But, there are a lot of misconceptions among the Muslims of today because many do not read and study the Quran but just indulge in blind faith, when in fact Islam is not a religion of blind faith; it is a religion of reasoning. Also, Islam is not just a religion, it is the way of life. This is obvious from the meaning of the word ISLAM; Submission to God. The submission here refers to doings things the way God wants us to do, not our own opinions because we follow Islam, not someone's opinion.
Great episode though, you should do this more often, just with a person that is more knowledgeable

The question about whether you'd go to jail if you eat pork, I think it refers to the case in Indonesia about an influencer who's caught eating pork and got sentenced by law.
So here's the explanation. In a country which have the biggest population of Islamic people, there is an institution that usually takes care of all Islamic rules and laws and manages the regulation of these rules in community.
What happened was that the influencer is a muslim, who did a vlog (or a streaming video, I don't remember exactly) of her eating and conciously saying "Bismillah" (Means "In the Name of Allah") before eating pork, which is forbidden in Islamic law. After that she was reported by an islamic preacher so hence she got sentenced.
So the answer is, eating pork is okay as long as you're not a Muslim. But if in the country there is an instition has a definite law to sentence any muslim who openly breaks the Islamic rules, they could probably go to jail. It doesn't have to be specific on eating pork; drinking liquor, drugs prostitutions and couples living together without marriage status, they're just the same.

They should bring a practicing and knowledgeable muslim to answer their question.
The sister here fail in answer based on the Qur'an and the sunnah.
About Poligamy it's allowed by the grace of Allah (Subhana wa taala) in his almighty wisdow.
Before the came of the messenger of allah (azza wa jalla) there was a well extended practices of poligami among the people of the books (jews and christians) the only difference is that Allah (Subhanaha wa taala) limited muslim up to four
Whether is for care of the women or help men to preserve its needs in the marriage, increase the offprings. The real reason of poligamy is to obey the message brought to the Messenger (peace and blessings upon him) and worship Allah (Azza wa jalla with it).
About smoking its forbidden as in Surah an Nisa 29.
O believers! Do not devour one another's wealth illegally, but rather trade by mutual consent. And do not kill each other or yourselves. Surely Allah is ever Merciful to you
May Allah grant us understanding ameen.

The reason for the right of a man to marry up to 4 woman is like in the vid said, to protect and financially support widows who lost their husband in war and might even have children to care for.. it is not for cheating, also u can’t date 4 woman at the same time, dating is in generell haram, it’s about marrying only and taking responsibility for the woman, also nowadays if a woman doesn’t want to share their husband they can just divorce, and like they said only a minority of men do it as it takes a lot of effort and responsibility as well as money to marry more than one woman
The topic is big and complicated, so even if it looks unfair, there are logical reasons behind it, btw cheating and treating ur wife unfair or bad is in generell forbidden, but I don’t think I have to explain that one lol
