Oh my god, I went to school with Brian. I was a senior and he was a freshman in the theatre department and we all knew he was going to be a huge star. I saw him in productions on campus and then at the Marriott Lincolnshire (yes, I saw that "Grease") and other Chicago theatres and I stan forever. He's such a doll.
It's the intro of "The Way We Were," because there's a line in the song that goes "...memories may be beautiful and yet too painful to remember...", and Brian just finished saying "what's too painful to remember." A musician who thinks on his feet--Go Seth!
I ADORE Brian D'Arcy James! Well, Seth Rudetsky too, of course--obsessed with HIM. Very interesting to find out out about Brian's name adjustment. And, indeed, the woman he talks about sounds like a clod, for whom the line "The zoo is closed" was too good.
Brian used to train at NY Sports on 80th Street in NYC every Friday morning. I used to enjoy seeing him in black boxer briefs every week, but then I used to wonder if he only owned one pair of underpants like Bernie Sanders.
I love Drew Sarich who did the hunchback of notre dame in germany in the end. But I still would have loved to see Brian playing any musical in germany. He is amazing

I WISH there was a recording of him singing through the Hunchback score. OMG.
