I don't know if you know this, but you can press the up or down arrow keys while aiming to auto center it to the hole. If you are centered Holey Mackerel should be easy at 35 to 40%

I have been able to complete medium in 6 shots, so it's not impossible. My record for hard is 11 shots, though.
It really all depends on what holes you end up with and (in some cases) how your luck fares for the round.
