Russia have sent immigrants to Norway also, and with help with Belarus against Poland (Poland inspired Finland to build fences at certain places to make it harder to cross the border)
And Finland passed a law earlier this year which if used, makes it possible not to take on assylum petitions and reject people on the border. Many who came to Finland based on asylum seeking, just disappeared somewhere to Europe and no on knows where, or who they are - and everyone who stayed has been basically sent back to their origin countries, since the asylum had no real grounds. This info is few months old though.
Sisu is the reason why we survived true the winter war. Sisu is something what is in our DNA as a heritage of our history. That's our mentality thing. We won't give up, no matter what. At least if we speak about the independence of Finland.
Sisu is what we used to have as a nation. So far we have almost lost it. You can translate it loosely with word: guts, but sisu is just a tad bit more. It is resiliance beyond all reason in essence.
There's a common ground between all Finnish males. If there's nothing in common in professional of other senses, it's "heitellä hylsyjä ympäriinsä". That's "sowing spent shell casings all over" , usually somewhat embellished stories of one's conscription service.
You sometimes see sisu translated as "guts" but I don't really think that to be correct. Sisu is more of a mental attitude of extreme endurance and perseverance, while "guts" is something more aggressive and proactive. It's only for the military, but part of Finnish culture as a whole. My definition is the following. If after suffering severe setbacks and hardships, after facing severe criticism and having all odds turn again you, you still get up on your feet, hold your head high and continue doing your thing you can be described as having sisu.
I have seen this video 20 times. I like it very much. But it always bothers me that the dog handler seems to chew gum 🙄. I wish he was more professional-like. But that is just my opinion 😉
@@Gibbetoo well, sunglasses do not give you a better sight, only if the sunglasses have some eyeglass properties. It only block the sun, if the sun is shining and it is not that bright in the woods. 😉

Sisu is not just for those in the army. It's more like an attitude/secret strength that every finn has.
Can confirm. Sisu is the first thing we think of here in Sweden when Finland comes up :)
Sisu is arctic personality disturbance. Thank good.

Sisu is the Finnish version of ”the force” from star wars
The overflow of immigrants from Russia did happen. Not only in Finland though. And the border between Finland and Russia is still closed.

You should watch Finnish action movie called "SISU". It situates at WW2 last moments, when Finland was fighting in Lapland against nazis.
Absolutely very strange but good movie👍! Everybody should see that movie.
Has nothing to do with the war tho, it’s more like a homemade action movie directed by a little kid.
LOL
Best action film ever from Finland.
Conscription is our only choice. We could never afford large enough professional Defense Forces.
Glad you brought this up. We had to flush down the toilet what was left of our relationship with Russia. No turning back now.
