I've never seen anything like that on a bass. At one point he was using classical guitar fingering. Thank you for expanding our understanding of what can be done with a bass. Fantastic!!!

@@sorenjunkers3834He's talking about the tapping style is like flamenco and classical. I think people use the terms piano bass or tap bass. There's full on songs on bass that are tapped out and played like a piano.

Right? There are more sounds coming from that bass than there are finger movements. It's magical!
He's faking it
He's not faking it. If you watch his hands, you can see every note being played. There are times his pinky of his fretting hand is hidden, but you can see a flash of it when he hammers on. He's hitting octaves by plucking with his thumb and forefinger. There's parts where he's hammering the low notes with his fretting forefinger while tapping and plucking with the others. He taps harmonies with his right hand while playing other notes with his left. It's all there. You might also be confused by the drum track underneath.
If you like tennis he's like the Roger Federer of the bass. Superb expositional and instructional videos. Wants to help the musical culture preserve itself. Also very talented comedically

He's at a level where it sounds like midi. Every note is that precise in length and consistency.
What if it is midi?
@MaltLicky-yu4en It's just a digital variant of the notes. it will always sound exactly the same with no deviation. Think of old NES or Atari video games, very primitive.
@harveytrevino2257 Yeah, but midi makes the note timing more accurate, so it sounds more perfect than natural playing. I think that's largely why the comment section is so impressed, when really it is just midi augmentation (I'm guessing). Not to take away from the guys playing, he is great.
