I think Robert Burns would have been pleased with this. It's a beautiful poem about loss & for me Part just got it right.:
Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North,

Beautiful scenery of Norway, on the border to which in Russia I spent a few years. Very appropriate to the Burns poetry. As for the music by Arno Pärt, it would sound strange, if you are not familiar with Georgian chant or Arvo’s music itself!
Arvo became very famous as a new wave- avant-garde composer in Estonia in the 60s. You could hear his music all over Estonia and even the rest of the USSR.

The tessitura of the tenor's voice on a single pitch and the organ registration provide sheer magic to the piece. Bravo Avro Part.
What do you mean by registration?
Registration is the choice of different sound options which the organist can select and combine to create different timbres. A bit like a composer using different sections of an orchestra to create a variety of timbres. Hope that helps 😊

I wish they had given a video credit, or at least say where it was filmed. Not Scotland, I suspect.
It was filmed in Norway, in various regions. Not "real" highlands indeed, yet we hope film has at least some of that "Highland feeling".. :)
