This is really part 1 of 3 things you need to install ( lets call it b58 stage 1 ) 1) Cold air intake 2) Catted downpipe 3) jp4 mod. All three work together jp4 increases the boost so that you can use that greater airflow and the downpipe lets the exhaust out and does sound much louder.
Interesting video. I plan on ordering one. Just a thought, does the ecu have a learning curve like (30-50 miles) to adapt to the air increase? If so, would performance become apparent then? Also would love to see side by side 0 to 60 / quarter mile runs to see if acceleration has changed a bit.
Thanks for this amazing review guys! I am about to pull the trigger on this only after seeing your review! This was very detailed. One question I have is I don't want to lose the "subtlety" that comes with the BMW, if that makes sense. I want it to sound a little more aggressive without trying to grab attention like a lawn mower or a leaf blower. Does this deliver that? Something that just dials up the sound just barely without being too attention-seeking. And the "blow-off" sound, is there anything that can be done to reduce that? Thank you again!
@@PerformanceOnWheels thanks for the quick response! I have all your videos playing on my TV right now as I clean my apartment. I can't believe I didn't find your channel before!
Not a silly question. The dealerships will not cover this part. The dealership would have to prove that this part caused a failure elsewhere. This is generally a pretty safe modification. Dinan has been known in the past (with some caveats) to match factory warranty on there parts and effected parts.
@@PerformanceOnWheels I’m debating on pairing it with the turbo inlet pipe by Dinan but I already spent so much on the intake itself , another $170 isn’t sitting right with me 😭
You should. I installed the Dinan inlet pipe while waiting for the CAI to come. TBH the car feels and drives better even with a stock CIA. I can only imagine if you have both installed. I am still waiting to receive the CIA from Dinan
@@PerformanceOnWheels Thank you. I'm taking delivery of mine within the next week hopefully, so I need to figure out a plate mounting solution. I hope the Eventuri intake I have sounds as good as yours does.
Truly considering getting this piece… I’d also recommend not getting a front license plate mount, even in my state where it’s required police don’t ever mess with performance vehicles who don’t have one.
Differences minimal. I do agree I did shut off the fake sound on mine. Enjoy the slight improvement that the air intake brought to the driving experience. Look forward to an affordable good quality and exhaust system.
No. Companies have not got into the ecu yet. There are a couple piggy back tunes available. Cai typically has minimal effect especially without additional supporting mods.
Two years ago I tried to obtain a Dinan intake for the older f22 m240i, well guess what folk,I got nothing but the run around, call after call months upon months, sure the company are big in name ,but absolutely crap with their customer service, long and short of it,if it takes a year to get your product on the shelf after extensive advertising, this is not the kind of business to rely on ,I jumped ship and went to a company with excellent customer service, watching this video and hearing, and Dinan still up to the same old crap, makes me realise, they gone down hill since Steve Dinan no longer there....
What company did you go with? Hoping the Steve and car bahn start producing for this platform. He still sells the dinan name products through his new venture, so he must believe in it as a good product still. 🤷
@@PerformanceOnWheels I ended up using Afe intake, and yes, always available, yes, they return my emails and call,I want to purchase several more for people who were also getting a merry dance from Dinan, ultimately though the Afe kit is brilliant,Dinan hype the stuff so much, then having to waiting one year?what they smoking over there....

help us out by liking and subscribing! We are trying to reach out to DINAN to be the first ones to get there new M240i Exhaust!
Appreciate the honest review. You saved me $500.
Glad we could help!

If you were to get a cold air intake which would suck more air into the turbos would you not want a catless downpipe to get better flow
Jb4?
No bro get it tuned

Another great video guys. Conan cold air intake looks good with the carbon fiber. It sounds great as well.
Needs some exhaust 💯

Any power loss after installing? I am running a AA downpipe atm and was wondering how those two would pair with eachother
Not that we noticed…
Nice job. Just got a 23’ I think I’m considering the box. Thanks
Glad it was helpful:)
Thanks for your review
Great content, question, what tow hook plate bracket is that?
Quite honestly don't remember.. found it on Amazon. Bmw tow hook plate holder.
Silly question, what impact does this have on factory warranty?

Yeah it does!

I'd order it now if you want one

No
Did you get a turbo inlet pipe as well? I want to get the intake for my m340 but idk if I should get the inlet pipe as well.

You didn't want to change the turbo inlet pipe at same time?
Do you even hear it at all in Comfort / Eco mode?
No.
Hi, I’m wondering where you guys get the plate relocator?
Just Amazon.
Hope this comment gets seen. What gap are you guys talking about towards the end of the video in the summary?
Which front license plate bracket do you have?
Purchased off Amazon. It is decent. Not awesome. Believe it was $80 bucks.

Can’t find this intake in stock. Where did you buy it?
Dinans website, it's on backorder
@@austinpaseka8069 I’ll just have to keep an eye out then
Sure do! I just realized I wasn't in the performance on wheels account when I replied to your comment. My bad!
Im confused how is the car gaining hp from an intake if there is not une behind it
Very very minimal. However more airflow into the engine will always increase power
How does this compare to the bms cold air intake?
did you re-tune the car after this install?
No. Companies have not got into the ecu yet. There are a couple piggy back tunes available. Cai typically has minimal effect especially without additional supporting mods.
Too noisy. A hiflo downpipe a better option.
Does the car still have the stock bov in this video?
Yes
The heat shield is twice bigger on the oem one 😅
Yeah it is lol
have you got a cel from the install?
No. No reason you should
