i have this cartridge, around 1995 in Brazil, that i've played in my national Nes-Clone "Dynavision 4 Radical", is very memorable to me, is one of cartridge that i've buy in a neighborhood's used store, at the time the World Map seems very huge to me, almost impossible to beat, i never gone much longer in progress, the game has a dark and scary tone to me as a 7 year old kid

Getsu Fuuma Den is one of a handful of Konami games to have been immortalized in YuGiOh - Both Getsu Fuuma himself and the final boss Ryokotsuki appear as cards

This is a game I didn't really know anything about previously, but I have to say it looks legitimately great for a game released in 1987 and it still looks a blast to play now! 😃

I found out about the lenticular thing from the deluxe edition of the sequel, which turns it into a rogue-like. apparently that version includes the Famicom original and it even has a thing on the Switch version where you could simulate the lenticular cover. not super familiar with the original, but seems neat!

I’ve always wanted finish this game and I think I’m going to make that a goal this year now that I have my Famicom. There’s a solid fan translation as well.

I saw that weird cover and my first thought was "does it look weird because it's lenticular?" and yep, it sure was.

This game actually got an unofficial, Castlevania-styled, GBC port called E Mo Dao (Devil Island) by Taiwanese bootleg studio Vast Fame. It’s a little jank with the screen crunch, high movement speed, and random Pokémon for enemies, but it’s otherwise mostly complete save the lack of 3D mazes, and the presentation is actually pretty good despite some stolen assets, and the music bangs too. It is all in Chinese unfortunately, but I don’t think it would make a difference to someone who is already familiar with the game

Very good game for the time indeed. Have you tried Undying Moon by any chance? It has some callbacks to this game, not surprisingly; I saw it being called a sequel to the original, but it seems to be a rather loose sequel to me, all things considered (guess it supposedly takes place 1000 years later or something).

I haven't tried it yet. It's on my list but I haven't been buying downloadable only games since I started Famidaily since barring weird circumstances, I'll be able to buy them when I'm done and have time to play things other than Famicom stuff again.

So it's Zelda 2 progression with Ninja Gaiden agility? Oh, and whatever game had 3D maze filler!

Maybe you have not play far enough, this game also got a 3D style dungeon as well which you have not mention in the video at all... It is hard as you do not have in game map, and you have to fight a lot while you exploring the dungeon

He mentioned them at 5:33. I’m assuming that’s what he’s referring to by first-person mazes
