Love the new style 🙋♀️. The enclosure act has a lot to answer for but as someone else commented, we wouldn’t know what was hidden underneath if the stones hadn’t been removed.
The removal of the cairn is a double edged sword in my opinion. Interesting to reveal and study the chamber but a shame to destroy the cairn. I did a search to see what 15000 cart loads would look like as a pile of stones and this is what I came up with. First, the old dictionary definition of a cartload is 1/4 to 1/2 a cubic yard. Considering the weight and bulk of stone I am gonna side on the low end. Using a landscaping calculator for border rocks (4"-8" stones) 3700 cubic feet could be seen as a 40 foot radius and a 20 foot height. Regardless of any errors in my calculation this cairn was massive. Those buried inside must have had great importance. Too bad the site couldn't have been studied / left intact and then had the stone replaced. If I'm in the area I will most definitely visit this site. Thanks for the video.

A lot of these sites had their cairn material taken away for field walls etc...Cairnholy 1 is another example of this. Thanks for the information.
