I don’t think there’s been a modern music artist that’s had so many different types of other music artists sing their praises throughout the years (Kanye, Jay-Z, SZA, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Lorde, Rina Sawayama, St. Vincent, Bob Dylan, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Dave Grohl, Tori Amos, Lars Ulrich, Elvis Costello, Phoebe Bridges, etc.) She really is an artist’s artist.
For me, to listen to Fiona’s music is to be understood. She’s a phenomenal songwriter and nothing is more satisfying than the rage in her voice. She truly is my favorite artist. This video made me oh so happy!
Her MTV speech was actually not (just) an overwhelmed teen's rant, it was taken out of context. Her speech was about how showbusiness is bullsh*t and how celebrity culture shouldn't be followed as an example - which she eventually got to live by. Fiona is an interesting artist for me, not only because of her music and persona but also the place she holds within the music sphere - with Kate Bush and Björk they are the original and ever so unique art/alternative/baroque pop artists, who earned their status for a reason, finding a perfect balance between commerciality and personality, embracing exciting, unique ideas and their own weirdness. As for the ranking of her albums, I personally find Extraordinary Machine to hold a similar place in Fiona's discography like Biophilia does in Björk's. When I first heard it, I was like "this is really good, why do people rank it so low?" It's the context, the comparison to what their other records achieved in sound and vibe that makes them not to hold up to other, greater ones within the discographies.
Extraordinary Machine was my first exposure to Fiona Apple... I was 13 when it came out, and the orchestration pleased my little band kid heart. There's bassoon on that album! Idler Wheel is now my favorite, but I'm glad I caught Extraordinary Machine first.
The Idler Wheel is my favourite record of all time. What really draws me to her music is her lyricism specific. She. fucking. B L E E D S on that page and you feel every ounce of humanity in her being through her words. Also, the fact that you don't even DISCUSS Regret??? AN ACTUAL CRIME. The lyrics on that song are INCREDIBLE.
Eugh! The Idler Wheel is amazing, and really is very glossed over in her discography. It is legitimately one of my “favorite” records of all time, where her ability to make emotion tangible and real surpasses any record i’ve ever listened to. I love it.
It's a strange feeling seeing how much Fiona had an effect on media despite me never having heard of her. I like to think I'm pretty aware but it's wild and exciting learning of a completely new artist to delve into. Great video as always.
My favorite example of anaphora (a linguistics term when you introduce a term and then refer back to it later more vaguely) is done so well in Sleep to Dream: "You think love is a hell you cannot bear, and I say gimme mine back and then go there for all I care."
Isn’t anaphora the figure of speech where you repeat the same word or group of words at the beginning of multiple sentences ? Like « i have a dream » by MLK
Fetch The Bolt Cutters, The Idler Wheel, When The Pawn are my ultimate Fiona trio of albums. You can argue each is a masterpiece in its own way. And they’re each fairly different from each other while still maintaining the Fiona Apple-like connective tissue. Though I do really like Extraordinary Machine, and I appreciate Tidal for the more basal and commercial jazz-pop album it is. I hope ‘Fetch’ doesn’t end up being her last album. But if it is, she has a pretty strong and distinct discography and ended with possibly her best work.
For me it’s “Newspaper”, “Hot Knife”, “Fast As You Can”. EM also has a few of her very best songs. Beyond the artistry or narrative, Fiona just has a lot of good songs.
Fetch the Bolt Cutters was my first real dive into Fiona, and the album helped me swing back from such a dark place in my life. All her music is raw and passionate and resilient and rare. Adore her, thanks for the video!
When The Pawn.. and The Idler Wheel were absolutely phenomenal albums to be introduced into Fiona's discography. I'm always a sucker for the singer/songwriter genre and her vocal performance throughout her career should not go understated. Get Gone would have to me my favorite track off hers, the uproar of a track then being followed by the slow ballad of I Know is too good to pass up when I'm in the mood to listen to some Fiona Apple
Get Gone is my favorite song off of When The Pawn. Her vocal performance on that track always hits. And it just makes me feel a sense of catharsis every time i hear it.
One quality in Fiona's music is how she keeps learning how to make the songs breath, while still being intense and tight. One of the best songwriters of these last decades, but also an artist who keeps finding ways to surprise herself with sound, something that's really inspiring. Thank you for the hard work you've been putting with more regular DDDs, Mr. Snare.
Fiona is mother. All her albums are fantastic (The Idler Wheel is probably my favorite), and everything she touches turns into gold (all the wonderful covers).
My favorite Fiona album is Fetch the Bolt Cutters. I can’t think of any other artist who came back from a nearly decade long hiatus with their best work yet. Not even Bowie or Kate Bush pulled that off.
Her music is just so personal to herself and those that open themselves up to her. Her visuals blend into her stream of consciousness and wit flawlessly.
“Fast As You Can” is probably in my top 10 favorite songs of all time. Love her music. Also really liked her “Dull Tool” song and hate that I can’t get it on Spotify. To be honest, she can’t really go wrong with any song, imo. I’ve just always adored what she does and how she goes about creating music.
Extraordinary Machine is honestly borderline underrated to me. Both versions of the album could use a little bit of the other in them. Though I do think the official version is a bit better. That album is more of a collection of really good songs (some of her best songs) rather than the daring, purposeful, idiosyncratic, complete visions her trio of great albums offered (‘Fetch’, The Idler Wheel, When The Pawn). So, it does understandably end up feeling like a lesser work compared to them. Still a strong album though and was easily one of the few best releases in 2005.
But this video repeats the idea that Fiona had no choice in re-recording EA. Didn’t she come out later and say the whole thing was her idea in the first place?
@@Hegder Yes, she said that she wasn’t happy with the original sessions. So, she asked Sony for more money to re-record. That’s when they told her that they’d only do it if she gave them each song to review every time she finished a track. She decided not to do that and allowed the album to be shelved. Once the “Free Fiona” stuff happened the label felt pressure and allowed her to re-record the album without any provisions. So, yeah, there’s a couple moments of misinformation in the video.
Some more context behind Extraordinary Machine’s delayed release. Fiona has stated in interviews that she wrote all the lyrics for the songs on the album on her own time, but when she went into the studio she wasn’t 100% sure what she wanted them to sound like. This is because for her first 2 albums Fiona wrote the songs long before she recorded them, so by the time she got inside the studio she knew exactly what she wanted. For the 3rd album she had not had enough time to “live” with the songs to know what she wanted them to sound like. The initial Jon Brion-produced tracks were demos that Fiona wasn’t satisfied with. Fiona wanted the label to give her money to rerecord the songs, but the label initially refused. There was overall miscommunication between Fiona and her label which led her to give up on the project altogether. Then the Free Fiona movement because fans assumed the label had shelved the album, even though the truth is Fiona herself gave up on it. However, the movement inspired Fiona and the label gave her the money to rerecord the album, because that’s what SHE wanted. By the time got to the studio with Mike Elizondo she had a more clear idea of how she wanted the songs to sound like. The released version of the album is the one Fiona wanted to release, not the version Sony wanted her to release (Sony really didn’t have a preference between the Jon Brian version and the Mike Elizondo version)
The thing that drew me to FIona's music is her exceptional gift of poetic lyricism combined with astonishing vulnerability and honesty. Many might see that vulnerability as off-putting and a weakness, but I see it as Fiona's biggest strength as an artist. Fiona's ability to share her inner turmoil - in a relatable, powerful way - that still feels unique to her, is what makes her outstanding. Also, the fact that she's an amazing musician with a commanding voice is just another bonus. Thank you for covering her work. I hope to see you cover PJ Harvey soon, she's got a brilliant discography.
I remember, years after The Idler Wheel came out, realizing while listening to “Anything We Want” on a ferry ride, that when she sings “my cheeks were reflecting the longest wavelength” she’s saying that she was blushing 😩 swoons 🙌🏻 she’s so good with words
I was so mesmerized when I first heard / saw Criminal a few years ago. And the rest of her catalogue definitely lives up to such a great first impression.
When the pawn honestly saved me from going completely insane after a breakup. That's when i got into her music. I'm all good now a year later and i still adore her music, she's one of the best songwriters ever imo and her music is so fun to sing
What amazes me the most about Fionas music is how she uses pauses at the right moments to strengthen her songs. Also, not only shes a great raw lyricist, the way she place each word at the perfect moment and in perfect synchronization with her piano is amazing. My fav album is The Idler Wheel, but closely theres a draw between Extraordinary Machine, FTBC and When the pawn. Great video bro, you killed it.
let’s add tori amos to the next ddd poll! tori amos helped women like fiona apple sing about their sa just as tori did herself in little earthquakes, plus i think that spin article compared them together
When Tidal came out I was in high school, and it blew me away. Fiona Apple has remained my hero since then. That someone my age was such an amazing singer gave me hope .
my introduction to her music was fetch the bolt cutters when it came out when i was 16, the perfect age to be introcuced to fiona apple. it blew my mind, id never heard anything quite like it, but i didnt look into the rest of her discog until this year. her music and lyricism is on that level where you shudder to think about the depths of the soul you have to reach into to pull out that kind of art.
I'm not well versed in Fiona Apple's works, but I think The Idler Wheel is an absolute masterpiece! I think that sometimes, piano can sound boring, but songs like "Johnathan" and "Alone" don't ever seem to get old to me.
I think an Aesop rock DDD could be cool, i think he deserves a bit more recognition for just how consistently good he is Also hell yeah for including Lemon demon and The mountain goats on the poll
My absolute favourite album from her is Extraordinary Machine, never have my feelings about love been so well described. I could rant for hours about it actually
Got to discover her through Fetch The Bolt Cutters and it took MONTHS for me to understand and get into the album properly. When it clicked, i decided to dive into her discography. The Idler Wheel and When The Pawn became immediate all time favorites for me. “Left Alone”, “The Way Things Are”, “Anything We Want” and “Paper Bag” joined “Newspaper” and “Cosmonauts” as some of the best songs i’ve ever heard. Fiona is so important to me and i think only Joanna Newsom could compare when it comes to consistency at making excellent projects with otherworldly songwriting. Truly a once in a lifetime talent.
It almost looks like you have read my mind. Lately I have been watching a lot of videos about Fionna's career and this video suits perfectly into my research. Thanks!💕
It's always feels so awkward when I think about how I got into Fiona Apple back in the mid 2000s discovering her music when I was around 16 and got obsessed with her music but yet whenever I brought her up with my classmates, they never heard of her... Unsurprisingly as a teenager going through the emotions, "Tidal" was so freaking relatable and I would listen to that album so much before I eventually grew to appreciate and fall in love with "When The Pawn" when I got a little older. I could dote for a long time but to make it short, she's one of the best musicians of all time in my opinion
I was first introduced to Fiona Apple when I randomly found the track "Left Alone" which is probably the song that sounds the least like her, but i was immediately hooked anyways. To this day I absolutely adore that song and Fiona is hands down one of my favourite artists.
Thank you for this Mr. Mic! I know it’s unpopular, but Extraordinary Machine is the album I go back to the most. Maybe not her best album but DAMN the lyrics cut deep
Finally a video about my goddess Fiona, I believe that she deserves way much more attention and recognition. I lover and her music keeps me alive. Thanks for doing this great video. You have a new sub now.
Excellent vid as ever Mic, but disappointed at no mention of Fiona's career highpoint, the end credits song of Bob's Burgers S10 E4, 'Pig Trouble in Little Tina'
You missed the collaboration in 2009 album The Best is yet to come: The songs of Cy Coleman, Why try to change me now and I walk a little faster, simply marvelous, they give me the chills 🤩
I doubt that there's enough fans in your audience to get it to the top pick, but I'm hoping They Might Be Giants gets a DDD soon. They've got the longevity, the influence, the BIG discography (20+ releases including the children's albums and b-sides), and most importantly, they're weird as hell, which always makes for a fun Dive.
Thanks for this. It was such a surprise to see you cover my favorite artist! I got Extraordinary Machine for christmas when I was 13 and, well, haven't been the same since, haha
Can't wait to watch! This answers a question about DDD I only thought of this week, being: I wonder if Mike the Snare would cover artists with smaller discographies, such as Iggy Pop & The Stooges, The Police, or Portishead.
It is kind of interesting seeing the past few DDDs focus on smaller discographies. They’re among the shortest ones he’s done since changing up the format, which I think makes the individual albums pop a bit more. Also all three of those artists would make for great DDDs!
Another great dive, really gave me a starting point to get into Fiona Apple when I didn't really know where to start. I also voted on the poll (still waiting for that Beach Boys ddd voting option). Keep up the great work though, I love your videos!
This video got me to buy copies of Tidal and When the Pawn at a local record store. Thank you mic. As an audio engineer, I don’t know how I hadn’t heard when the pawn before but *oh my god that record is immaculate.* Those drums came in on Limp and my jaw actually hit the floor. ❤

I just yesterday watched the discog dive video with someone in the comments section requesting you do fiona apple's discography next (can't remember which video as it was late & I watched several because they're great) and I was thinking yeah, that'd be a great video, but The Snare ain't never gonna do it :/ what a lovely surprise this is! :D
extraordinary machine might be considered as fiona’s weakest album but it was my first introduction to her music- and thus i have a superrrr huge soft spot for it. the title track’s surprisingly upbeat message (especially considering fiona’s usual body of work) and parting gift’s beautiful imagery and the performance of rage and jealousy on window still makes this album a favourite of mine 💖 (i think it’s significantly better than tidal *shot*)
fantastic video! i remember being so fascinated by how unique the idler wheel sounded and then feeling the same years later about fetch the bolt cutters. oh and thanks for the credit! ❤
I think that due to it being Jerry Garcia's birthday week, now is as good a time as ever to request adding the Grateful Dead to the DDDD Poll. I'd love to hear you dive in to their history!
I love your channel so much. The DDD is so considerate, funny and passionate. Can't wait to see what you do next! I fell in love with Fiona as a teen around 2009 because there was something in her voice that instantly hooked me and held this power over me. I was heartbroken when she canceled her tour to South America in 2012 - it was supposed to be my first travel to São Paulo and I was so excited to see her live (I was 18 and I had to work hard to convince my parents to let me go lol). But I was more than paid back in 2017 when, out of pure chance, I happened to flee hurricane Irma all the way from Miami to LA the day before she played at Ohana Fest. I was able to see her in an incredibly intimate show on such a beautiful site after going through a terrifying experience. In a way it was a culmination of many things in my life. I knew she was a mesmerizing performer and interpreter, but I discovered her to be a captivating and fun human being as well. As I got more proficient in English I was able to revisit and unveil the layers of the poetry in her lyrics, and as I get older I sense that I understand her better and my favorite albums shift all the time. I currently tend to favor The Idler Wheel more. Regardless though one song that always stood high in my rankings is Left Alone: I love how she punches the lyrics and goes absolute bonkers in the piano, only to pause and alongate the sounds in an excruciating way. Man, great work on the videos on this channel anyways, it's so good to see quality work like this! Best wishes from Brazil 💚💛
I listened to Hot Knife for 48 hours straight and it changed how my brain hears and processes music. I like when she sings her songs bluegrass style with the Watkins and Chris Thile of Nickel Creek, too. Fast As You Can, bluegrass style, is great. She is my favorite musical artist, hands down.
I just wanna say that the top comment on the last DDD suggested this for a vid, and whether or not this was encouraged by it, I applaud you for covering Fiona Apple
I remember seeing "Criminal" on some "most controversial videos" countdown late night when I was like 12 years old. Being a kid, I didn't understand why people made a big deal about the content... it totally didn't occur to me she was like 17 when they filmed it. Now that I am over 30,, it comes off as a very weird way to supposedly satire the modeling industry. Either way, the song and video stuck into my mind for a number of years after that. Later on, I found copies of Tidal and Extraordinary Machine at a thrift store. I became obsessed with both albums, repeating them nonstop. They eventually made it on to an iPod classic that was made up of all of my CDs painstakingly ripped onto a laptop that didn't hold enough storage for everything. I had to use an external hard drive to sync everything to the iPod. I finally got around to streaming When the Pawn and was completely blown away that I had missed such a phenomenal album. I found the CD at a the same thrift store and added it to the collection well after I had slowed down on buying CDs and made the switch to Spotify. I had already owned a copy of Idler Wheel at that point. I must have listened to "Hot Knife" on constant repeat the summer it came out. By the time Fetch the Bolt Cutters was released, I had gotten into vinyl heavily sooo I got the Barnes and Noble bronze colored pressing. Fiona has followed me from format to format over the past like 15 years or so. She's one of favorite artists. I return to her time and time again as she taps into an emotional nerve with me. Her music is beautiful on so many levels. I can always return to any of her albums and feel something authentic.
Yes yes yes. She deserves so much more credit, respect, and recognition. She’s proven herself to be one of the greats in music. Even though her discography isn’t big, it’s impressive and so much more so than many artists out there today. She is so in touch with the human condition and human emotions. I love you Fiona Apple. You saved my life
I haven't gotten around to doing a proper dive into Fiona's music yet (exploring new artists kinda intimidates me, which is why I find this series so helpful!), but I came across the title track from Bolt Cutters during the depths of the first lockdown and it brought me a tremendous amount of comfort - also probably the best lyrical reference to Running Up That Hill you're ever likely to hear
Extraordinary Machine holds a special place in my heart. I happened upon it in my library. I thought ‘Oh, the girl that made Criminal when I was a kid still makes music? Let’s give it a listen’. I loved this album through and through. I don’t think I listened to any full album as much as the miseducation of Lauryn Hill up until that point. This album made me a life long fan. She could release an album full of dolphin sounds over nails on a chalkboard and I’d still buy it! Lol
In retrospect, Extraordinary Machine being as chaotic as it is makes me love it all the more. It's still my favorite album of hers. Then again, not saying much because the Woman just does not miss.
I dived into her discography during quarantine, and I'm so glad I did. Fetch The Bolt Cutters became one of my favorite records of all time. That Carly/Fiona mashup is astounding 👀
OMG thank you for this. Fiona is one of my greatest musical and personal heroes. She told the truth and got nearly "cancelled" for it before that was even a thing. Her musicality and example as a person who constantly does good for others and for society is truly inspiring. And of course: THE MUSIC!!!! Love

Absolutely. Extraordinary Machine is her best album to me. Her best songwriting in a single recording. She simply does not miss throughout it!
The biophilia comparison is so accurate
The Idler Wheel is my favourite record of all time. What really draws me to her music is her lyricism specific. She. fucking. B L E E D S on that page and you feel every ounce of humanity in her being through her words.
Also, the fact that you don't even DISCUSS Regret??? AN ACTUAL CRIME. The lyrics on that song are INCREDIBLE.
Regret is so underrated
Eugh! The Idler Wheel is amazing, and really is very glossed over in her discography. It is legitimately one of my “favorite” records of all time, where her ability to make emotion tangible and real surpasses any record i’ve ever listened to. I love it.
IT'S MY FAVORITE FIONA SONG YESSS
DISCUSS DISCUUUUUUSSSSSD
Her best album imo, and left alone is her best song
@@36melodyproduction It's also that! But in linguistics, it means what I said. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaphora_(linguistics)
@@DJPuzzles good to know ! thanks for the trivia :)
mic you are fucking KILLING IT with these DDDs right now, absolutely loving the videos
thank you so much!!!
@@MicTheSnare wholesome snare drum
@@MicTheSnare of course mic :)
Slow Like Honey is one of the most underrated Fiona songs ever. I will die on this hill
I AGREE
Fetch The Bolt Cutters, The Idler Wheel, When The Pawn are my ultimate Fiona trio of albums. You can argue each is a masterpiece in its own way. And they’re each fairly different from each other while still maintaining the Fiona Apple-like connective tissue. Though I do really like Extraordinary Machine, and I appreciate Tidal for the more basal and commercial jazz-pop album it is. I hope ‘Fetch’ doesn’t end up being her last album. But if it is, she has a pretty strong and distinct discography and ended with possibly her best work.
I doubt Fetch will be her last imo, but there won't be a follow up for a looooooooooong time I expect
Agreed I can't get enough of that Fiona Apple Holy Trinity
Fiona Apple Holy Trinity. For me personally my favorite songs off of those albums are "Rack of His", "Every Single Night", and "I Know" :)
Snare.
"This world is bullshit"
DID I LIE?
DID I LIE?
*DID I FUCKING LIEEEEEEEEEEEE?*
Fiona is mother. All her albums are fantastic (The Idler Wheel is probably my favorite), and everything she touches turns into gold (all the wonderful covers).
that’s because she’s an extraordinary machine.
Yeah it sucks Dull Tool isn't anywhere, it's such a gem but usually just people already really into her know about it.
Banger
Extraordinary Machine is honestly borderline underrated to me. Both versions of the album could use a little bit of the other in them. Though I do think the official version is a bit better. That album is more of a collection of really good songs (some of her best songs) rather than the daring, purposeful, idiosyncratic, complete visions her trio of great albums offered (‘Fetch’, The Idler Wheel, When The Pawn). So, it does understandably end up feeling like a lesser work compared to them. Still a strong album though and was easily one of the few best releases in 2005.
Justice for Extraordinary Machine. Either version on its own was still one of the best of that year.
Sullen Girl. What a song,
What amazes me the most about Fionas music is how she uses pauses at the right moments to strengthen her songs.
I think an Aesop rock DDD could be cool, i think he deserves a bit more recognition for just how consistently good he is
Also hell yeah for including Lemon demon and The mountain goats on the poll
THIS 100%
I agree
Fun fact: the full title of “the idler wheel” is two lines of common meter, so it can be sung to the tune of amazing Grace
I was first introduced to Fiona Apple when I randomly found the track "Left Alone" which is probably the song that sounds the least like her, but i was immediately hooked anyways. To this day I absolutely adore that song and Fiona is hands down one of my favourite artists.
Paper Bag might be the most beautiful song I've ever heard. The french horns at the end give me shivers
Excellent vid as ever Mic, but disappointed at no mention of Fiona's career highpoint, the end credits song of Bob's Burgers S10 E4, 'Pig Trouble in Little Tina'
my favorite artist ever. thank you for making this!!!
I got Extraordinary Machine for christmas when I was 13 and, well, haven't been the same since, haha
i can NOT choose a favorite album of hers she’s such a great lyricist and my total muse
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA , I LITERALLY SCREAM WHEN A SAW THE NOTIFICATIONNNN. I LOVE FIONA WITH ALL MY SOUL. Than You for this ❤️
I named myself after her, so yeah you could say her music has had a big impact on my life
Can't wait to watch!
This answers a question about DDD I only thought of this week, being: I wonder if Mike the Snare would cover artists with smaller discographies, such as Iggy Pop & The Stooges, The Police, or Portishead.
He could do one on iggy Pop and include the stooges
It is kind of interesting seeing the past few DDDs focus on smaller discographies. They’re among the shortest ones he’s done since changing up the format, which I think makes the individual albums pop a bit more. Also all three of those artists would make for great DDDs!
The poll includes picks like MGMT or Tame Impala, so it's on the table
Another great dive, really gave me a starting point to get into Fiona Apple when I didn't really know where to start. I also voted on the poll (still waiting for that Beach Boys ddd voting option). Keep up the great work though, I love your videos!
Imagining a mid-2000's MySpace comment amounting to "Fiona Apple + AwesomeSauce = Fiona Applesauce".
I started listening to Fiona apple about 10 years ago, and I haven’t stopped since! I love her ❤️
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
For Her is one of my absolute favorite songs
i'll remember fiona apple all my life as the artist that created the song (Paper Bag) that became my most listened song of all time (on my five year old account of spotify) in just one!! week!! and i can still listen to that song on repeat without getting bored
Slow Like Honey from Tidal has a special spot in my heart.
Extremely emotional but subtle at the same time.
Crying and throwing up cause you didnt even MENTION Valentine from Idler Wheel 😭😭
you forgot about her cover of "The Whole of the Moon". it's absolutely brilliant
her take on cy coleman's "why try to change me now" is also majestic!
splendiferous excitement! I just yesterday watched the discog dive video with someone in the comments section requesting you do fiona apple's discography next (can't remember which video as it was late & I watched several because they're great) and I was thinking yeah, that'd be a great video, but The Snare ain't never gonna do it :/
what a lovely surprise this is! :D
extraordinary machine might be considered as fiona’s weakest album but it was my first introduction to her music- and thus i have a superrrr huge soft spot for it. the title track’s surprisingly upbeat message (especially considering fiona’s usual body of work) and parting gift’s beautiful imagery and the performance of rage and jealousy on window still makes this album a favourite of mine 💖
(i think it’s significantly better than tidal *shot*)
YESSSSSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
fantastic video! i remember being so fascinated by how unique the idler wheel sounded and then feeling the same years later about fetch the bolt cutters. oh and thanks for the credit! ❤
I think that due to it being Jerry Garcia's birthday week, now is as good a time as ever to request adding the Grateful Dead to the DDDD Poll. I'd love to hear you dive in to their history!
Every single one of her songs are fucking amazing. Pure insanity to have 5 albums filled with banger after banger
Finally!!! Fiona is an incredible artist.
I love your channel so much. The DDD is so considerate, funny and passionate. Can't wait to see what you do next!
(Some I'd personally love to see: Talk Talk, Prince, D’Angelo, Nirvana, Led Zep, MBV, Joanna Newsom, CAN, Nina Simone, Frank Ocean, Grouper, GYBE, Nilsson, Talking Heads, and The Beach Boys)
Best singer/ songwriter of the past 30 years!!!!
you don't know how anticipated this is.
I’ve been on a big Fiona binge lately so this was great timing ❤️
I listened to Hot Knife for 48 hours straight and it changed how my brain hears and processes music. I like when she sings her songs bluegrass style with the Watkins and Chris Thile of Nickel Creek, too. Fast As You Can, bluegrass style, is great. She is my favorite musical artist, hands down.
I just wanna say that the top comment on the last DDD suggested this for a vid, and whether or not this was encouraged by it, I applaud you for covering Fiona Apple
a mistake from in the pawn made me feel understood, know that they were others also having chaotic lives and not feeling shame
Extraordinary Machine was how I found Fiona Apple and is still my favorite album of hers, but you made good points.
YES! fiona is my favorite singer/songwriter of all time. so pumped about this video
Didn't know the channel before this popped up. This is BASED content. Much love, buddy!
My favourite artist of all time! Thank you for such an amazing video.
Great job. You are SO correct about Hot Knife, a masterpiece.
one of my favorite artists of all time, no one writes like her - no one bangs the piano like her and no one understands the mystics of muses like her
the run away with me mashup LITERALLY SENT ME ASRTGUJHHHHHH
Great video, thanks I learned a lot about one my favourite singers.
Thank you so much for this video!
Great video! I didn't know much about Fiona before I watched this. Very enlightening. Would love to see a Portishead DDD next. 😁
Yes!!!!! Been waiting for thissss… automatic like!
I’ve been waiting for this DDD 😫
Happy to see my girl Fiona covered ,.I’ve seen her live 3 times and she’s truly an experience
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR SO LONG AND IT'S FINALLY HERE YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Love
