Hi, I need to make 2 rectangular
rugs, each 30x48”. I have made round and oval rugs, but not any rectangular yet. Are usually make them from sheets from the thrift store. But I’m having trouble figuring out how many yards i will need for just one color. I usually have multicolored or maybe three or four colors. So for example, if I use a full flat sheet which is 81“ x 91“ and 2 inch strips, how do I figure out the yardage? I have watched almost all of your videos in the past.

First of all, ANYtime you would like rug fabric (or cord/jute) calculations, simply go to our website. Along the left margin of every page - if on your PC, or in the drop down menu on your phone, you'll find a rug calculator. We provide this service at no charge - giving you rug requirements in Yardage, Weight & by our Fabric Rolls/Bundles!
To create (2) rectangular rugs 30x48" plan on PER EACH:
Just shy of 23 yards of fabric (46 yards total)
You can also WEIGH your fabrics! Plan on:
5 3/4 pounds of fabric (11 1/2 pounds total)
Or if other projects the same size!
8 of our fabric rolls/bundles - each is 6 yards of fabric (16 total)
1 roll jute (2 rolls total)
4 3/4 rolls Bonnie Craft Cord (9 1/2 rolls total)
Slightly more than 2 rolls Cora Craft Cord (2 rolls total)
For the sheets, no need to measure them off, simply weigh them on your bathroom scale! If you have 11 1/2 pounds of bed sheets, you should have enough for (2) 30 x 48 rectangular rugs!

How can you connect a whole new roll to continue? That would be a lot to pull through.
Really good question! It is possible with the "slit" method - with a really big slit. But, I've found the easiest way is to simply tie them together and weave in the ends! Super fast & easy way!
