  • A simple diy beehive stand that holds multiple hives! Using cement/cinder blocks and 4x4s to build a beehive stand. I like this stand for it's flexibility and ease of use. Also, it has enough wide that keep beehives from tipping over.
In the video, I discuss buying 4"x4"x12', but I actually used 4"x4"x16' for the stand in the video and I like it better than my 12" stands. The stand takes 9 half cinder blocks, 9 full cinder blocks and 2 4"x4"x your desired length. For hive stands, remember a beehive can weight a 100 lbs or more when it full of honey.

Of all my projects, the bees keep me learning the most!

I think bees would be cool.
I know the previous owner of my place had black bear problems when they tried honey bees. I might stick with my maple syrup.... undecided :)

Black bears would be troublesome! Luckily, I don't have to worry about them.

@@HedgeAppleAcres As I slowly expand from veg/berries to poultry I know I will have some electric fencing eventually. Maybe I can make a safe haven for a few hives? We'll see. I want to make sure the bears don't eat the chickens first.... THEN I'll worry about the bees :)

So true! Electric netting or fencing would be necessary. It's one of the reasons I love my LGDs. Without them, the possum, skunks, etc would have a chicken dinner with my chickens!

Very nice simple stands. Not sure if I will ever get into bee keeping but I’ll keep this in mind!

It's a nice simple stand that works great! And you should try bees sometime! It is the coolest feeling to have them flying all around you.

I really like the 4x4 idea, looks great.

It's nice, simple, and works well but it's important to make it 24" wide. I tried it with just one full block stacked up, but the hives tip too easily.
