I genuinely never knew he was English, his accents are pretty good
Agreed. Lots of British actors have good American accents. I first noticed that with Dominic West's accent in The Wire -- I was surprised to learn he wasn't American.
Mr. Sewell seems like one of the most genuine and intelligent humans in the acting industry. His depth is quite beautiful and refreshing❤
Agree 100%!
@@PaulLevinson you also did a great job interviewing him. You certainly gave him the freedom to express his thoughts. It seemed like a natural conversation between two friends rather than the more common coached/rehearsed interviews we often see, so thank you for that.
@@talkinghuman7032 Thanks so much for saying that. Rufus was easily the best -- and easiest -- interview I've ever conducted. His depth and honesty and sheer good humor were remarkable, and a pleasure.
@@PaulLevinson you are so very welcome. He does come across as a splendid person, as do you. Looking forward to watching more of your videos and more works in which Mr. Sewell performs. I recently discovered him in The Man in the High Castle and was completely captivated by his performance. He has the ability to demonstrate the complexity of being human with all the good and all the bad within us all. There were scenes in which he conveyed a variety of emotions without saying much, it was through his facial expressions and other details. It was just so nice to see the way he developed the character of John Smith. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my comments. Thank you for treating all of us to such a wonderful interview🙏 Best of luck with all your future projects!
@@talkinghuman7032 Thanks! Enjoy my videos and the rest of Rufus Sewell's superb work on the screen.
I'll never be able to watch Rufus Sewell in anything else!!! From now on, he will always be John Smith to me!!! Hands down, my favorite character on the show, and Mr. Sewell nailed it!!!
I agree with you 100%!
He is awsome ❤ I love his british english and how he speeks in general. His thoughts, his face expressions, his hand gestures. He is very handsome, but this comes from inside. I love him 🥰
It's such a shame that the end of the show was ruined by ideologues. I am so glad to find out the RS fought for his character. Many thanks for the interview. The show resonance is at all time high now, especially for those who already live in their own high castles amid fascistic dictate
Excellent comment -- I agree with every word you say.
wonderful actor - wonderful series
Agree 100%! Thanks for your comment!
The whole show honestly should have been about Smith and Kido….
They definitely were the two most compelling characters.
Hi Dr.Levinson: this was a great interview with a very fine actor. I saw RS years ago on stage in London: he was originating the title role in Tom Stoppard’s Rock and Roll. Wonderful! He is very underrated and under-used. I have just caught him in The Diplomat: it’s not high art, but his performance is excellent and shows what a range he has. (As you know he is also a fine comedic actor - I particularly liked him as the bonkers priest in the BBC’s Parade’s End with Cumberbatch.)
Agreed! I thought The Diplomat in general and RS's performance in particular (as well as Keri Russell's) was superb. I just posted a link to my review in this video description.
Great interview Paul!
Thanks Debra!
Just finished the show fuck me it was so good
It sure was.
Aww he is so cute :3
Excellent interview , Paul, with an intelligent & very underrated actor , Rufus Sewell. MITHC was deep & riveting , especially the first 2 series. A great cast in that show.
Thanks so much, Kevin -- I agree with you, completely!
What an actor, what a character ... amazing !! How is it possible to continue as an actor after such a fantastic role ??
Two high points:
1 - Alt John Smith saves Juliana
2 - Reichmarschall Smith killing Hoover AND twisting the knife. No character deserved it more.
Absolutely!
👍👍
I wished John Smith could have stayed in the American world and shed his Nazi skin:(
Me too! And Rufus Sewell, as we talk about in the interview, feels the same!
Agree , yet such an abrupt end to him ...by his own hand
