Thank you Gylfi, construction crews, reporters, and emergency workers. This is a continuing demonstration of engineering ingenuity and perseverance. We viewers appreciate your focus on what the people are doing to protect the power plant, blue lagoon, and infrastructure. Thanks again for your excellent coverage.
I just flew home from Iceland lastnight, I saw the glow of the Volcano from Helgafell whilst chasing the Aurora, Sky Lagoon, and on the way to the airport at Keflavik. I love Iceland, such a beautiful country with amazing people, all good wishes to them and all the people working hard to keep the power plant and the blue lagoon safe from the lava...I am looking forward to coming back to Wonderful Iceland 💚
These workers are certainly committed to their jobs. It must not be an easy task, and as we say in England, I take my hat off to them. They are the hero's of the peninsula by far. I hope they all stay safe, and thanks for the update Gulfi. 🏴🇮🇸🇬🇧
Reminds me of the Māori people of Whakarewarewa village in the Rotorua area of New Zealand. They used to put baskets of food into the natural hot springs to cook. Not sure if it's still done there
@@sciangear4782 yes, that's a great idea when the conditions are safe and don't change. I think that I have seen a video of the same hot spring cooking in Iceland, it was somewhere on a beach as I remember. Clever people use what's available - no matter where they live. That's great.
Great news about Blue Lagoon and the Powerplant! I'm continually impressed with the Icelandic people's inventiveness, flexibility, and engineering prowess.
This is legendary engineering defense from lava - well done engineers and construction crews! And thank you Gylfi for the amazing footage and your narration update.
That statement made me wonder how interesting it would be to time machine some ancient people forward to witnesses how modern man can have so much control over nature. Good luck to the Icelanders.
These guys have been doing this since at least the early 1970s. I remember a National Geographic showing pictures and telling the story about how they saved (most) of a town pumping straight outta the ocean. Amazing stuff!! Good job, guys!! We have tornadoes, and you have lava. Never easy, but we all survive.
And we just had our bomb cyclone…. It kinda sucked. For lots of people. Trees down, some in houses, power lines down…. Lots of people with no power….and no cell…. Does make you appreciate it though when it finally comes back !!!
The can-do attitude of the Icelanders is very admirable. I worked closely with them for a year in the 90s when stationed there with the Air Force and was always impressed with their ingenuity and calm in the face of tricky situations. Had no fear flying all over the island with their pilots.
Absolutely amazing people in Iceland. Thanks Gylfi, for your awesome videos and commentaries with them. I can just imagine how incredibly hard all those guys are working. Strong, positive thoughts and vibes for everyone there. ❤❤

It is amazing what Icelandic people can do to manage lava flows. I hope they keep being successful at protecting vital infrastructure, especially now that winter is coming 😊
Oh such good news !! Praise for those workers !! 😊 Thank them for us out here along with you people of Iceland !! We appreciate them !! Thank You for the update !! Such good news !! So happy for your Country !!
This sounded like an action movie pitch but it was very real for the citizens of Iceland who know what it takes to inhabit a nearly arctic island situated on top of a continental margin hot spot.
When this eruption series ends, someone should cut a documentary named Saving Svartsengi and Grindavik that also includes interviews with decision makers as well as ground workers.
Great work again from the hard working people with the heavy machinery and the heavy pumps 👍😁. Iceland will be the top expert on the topic of lava management for years to come.
Thank you Gilfy. I agree the men working on this are heroes. It’s amazing to see the huge hoses they use to bring the ‘water’ from the lagoon to cool the hot lava. Yes this was a more dangerous yet fascinating thing the crew experienced than we’d find on Netflix. Best to you Gilfy.
Thank you for the update! The "Lava Laborers" are the heroes of the week!! I am truly amazed at the engineering capabilities of the Icelandic peoples! Bravo!!!
Thanks for another new video. It's great to see how the people figure out how to do good work with problems that are complex and different and big and dangerous and constantly needing the adaptability and cooperation and skill of the people doing it all!

I get nervous when I see the earthmovers sitting on top of a narrow berm. Setting up the huge hoses and pumps over lava is also impressive. The men working on this have my respect.
He is right, lava cooled down with ice or water becomes crispy, even turning into vulcanic glass, the Icelanders have plenty of experience with water cannons and the effect on lava.
Man against nature struggle! Iceland is an inspiration. And what a wonderful opportunity for scientists all over the world to literally see, monitor and record the growth of mother earth
