    As a future pediatrician, I am nervous about these can't miss diagnoses and have a very intern-level impulse to overcall esoteric diseases. The way Dr. Hussain contextualized the epidemiology was very helpful and gave me useful information, not just numbers. I will certainly aim for this clarity in my future presentations.

    I was searching for someone who’s child had this syndrome that was treated and has been successfully cured, unfortunately I didn’t find any but I am here to give hope that my baby.... now 8 years was diagnosed with IS at 3mths and the treatment given at that time was prednisolone which she was on until she 3years. She is did the last EEG at 3yrs and it was perfect after being abnormal for years. However I have a tip for all parents with babies that suffer from this please give them omega 3 from fish oils it really helps and I believe it played a major role in the treatment of my daughter.... I can testify to that. Hope this helps and may God continue to give you strength in this trying time

    Hello Doc Thanks for the detailed video first. I’m a Doctor myself. My nephew was diagnosed with infantile spasm (West Syndrome). We tried different anticonvulsants but didn’t worked. Finally we start using Vigabatrin and he responded to that. He is using it since last one month and spasm are gone. So, I’m here to comment. If any of the other medications didn’t worked . Do try this one. Every patient respond to different medications. So, with everyone best of luck. And hope everyone’s kids get well soon. Much love .

    Hi my daughter is two months old and started having these seizures. At the moment we are at CHLA getting her some treatment. At 33 weeks pregnant they found cysts in her brain. Once she was born we did some ultrasound but no mri because she did not show any signs of abnormalities. Now 2 months in, she has about 4 seizures a day, they last about 5-6 minutes, she does have breaks in between like the first video you showed.

    ACTH worked almost immediately for my son's spasms/seizures. He's spasms/seizures started as a small twitch that were overlooked. When laying down he would have episodes that looked like he was doing crunches, bending/pulling his legs up to his stomach, with his right arm raising and head tilting back/up, all in one motion. Then a few days later his spasms involved the crunches, head tilt back etc, but now eyes rolling up to the right. While in the hospital (4 weeks 1st time) everyday different types of medications were being tried and none of them worked. Instead of being able to regulate his seizures, different types were being added to his episodes. It became impossible for him to set up even with assistance and had to place pillows/padding on anything around him. His head drops became more and more aggressive. I begin to get bruises around my face and a few pump knots to go along with my black eye. I just didn't know when I was going to get head-butted from a seizure. He begins to be more in seizure states then not. This is when I found out that not all seizures have movements or show signs, other then what the monitor shows (scribble) and it will only get worst for him. They told me will never have a chance at a normal life if we don't find a medications to work. Finally the panel of doctors decided to try ACTH, they only go to it after everything else has been done and if it doesn't work then they don't know. Each shot i gave him costed $60,000, one shot a day for 8 week's. With- in 3 days he was seizure free and that was 8 years ago and still no seizures. I did not have to pay the cost for the medication, thankfully.

    • @brighterdayjenn8579
      @brighterdayjenn8579 3 года назад +2

      @@gabrielahowell8313 great. That week was the last of the seizures. The monitor showed some seizure activity when he sleeps. He sometimes jolts like he is having a nightmare but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. The doctor's said in layman's terms that some seizures are so deep in the brain there is nothing that can be done. But as long as they're not effectiving him just watch from time to time. He is behind when it comes to schooling. He has difficulties with letters and remembering what they are but when it comes to explaining things he is an absorber for sure. They did inform me because of the infant seizures that he had 70 percent chance to develope autism and be on the spectrum. I couldn't be happier with the results. It was a risk but there was nothing else to try and if this did not work he would have been bed bound most of the time. No it would have been alot of the time because his seizures were becoming 24/7. His doctor in her 20 years never seen brain activity like that. I'm still cautious about flashing lights at times but noticeable seizures that hinder him have been zero since. So thankful for Cincinnati Childrens Hospital.

    Hi Doctor, my 8-month-old daughter is displaying symptoms such as stiffening of her upper body, resembling aggressive gestures. An EEG has been conducted, and the impression indicates Generalized Spike & Wave Epileptiform activity. Our pediatrician has prescribed Sodium Valproate syrup, 2ml twice a day. However, I have a few doubts that I would like to clarify, and you seem to be the right doctor for advice. I am interested in booking an appointment and forwarding you the reports. Please, Doctor, kindly assist me.
