Black Barbie 🎀 Doll Talk: 30th Anniversary My Favorite Barbie 2010 Reproduction

She's Black! She's Beautiful! She's Dynamite! She made history as the first "Black Barbie" designed by legendary Mattel designer, Kitty Black Perkins.
The year was 1980 and Kitty came up with the design for this iconic doll due to the outpouring of demand from collectors.
Wearing a sparkly red gown with golden embellishments she looks ready for the disco.
She has the 1971 Steffie face mold and a short "Afro" hair style indicative of the era.
I am so thrilled to have found this 30th Anniversary "My Favorite Barbie" reproduction from 2010 on Facebook marketplace. She was local and the right price! I also love the bonus 80's outfit she comes with.
Black Barbie was on my "Holy Grail" list of Barbies that I had to have and I am over the moon that I have added her to my collection.

Congrats on getting her, she is gorgeous! I need to watch the documentary, I've heard it's great. I don't have this doll (or the original) unfortunately but I keep hoping I will come across her thrifting (I can dream lol). Happy Birthday!!!! Hapi bdayy! Dolla with the steffie face are just gorgeous and this is no exception. I found her original version once online but she had no clothes (no biggie tbh ) and had bite marks😭

Did you end up getting her or did you pass because of the bite marks? A couple of my thrifted dolls have bite marks but very minor. I have passed up dolls with too many chew marks. 😂
