    This video is a life saver!!!!! I nearly sent my AK 4000 back because it was acting insane and making a lot of noise.
    I thought it was perfectly balanced..... I was wrong!..lol
    A lot of people, myself included, probably assume that the basic up/down leveling is the same as a 3 dimensional balance and it clearly is not.
    Im sure they get a lot of unnecessary returns because people don't know this.
    Thank you so much for explaining this!
    Now I'm having a blast and it works like a champ!

      @@HaiTran .. I did end up returning the AK4000 to Amazon today.. It had occasional jitters and would occasionally crash when it was in the TF mode.
      I ordered a Crane 2. At least now I understand what balanced means. Thanks again!

      A few different people have had problems with the AK4000 so you returning it isn't an unexpected thing. I hope the Crane works out for you and this balancing tutorial will work just about the same for your new gimbal 👍

    Has anyone had a problem removing the gimbal from the base of the dual handle? This is the second or third time I've put it on there and I can't seem to loosen the ring that locks it in place. Just wondering if anyone has my tricks I'm not aware of?

    hello mate, just bought ak2000, i cant slide the camera like you do to the side..closest to the axis as posible, there is not side slider!

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  5 лет назад

      I just looked up some images of the AK2000 and if I'm correct, it does have the lock to allow for side to side movement of the camera carriage. It's located on the side of the carriage where the rear camera monitor would be. It's located to the left of the 2.5mm input jack.

    • @TzouPhotography
      @TzouPhotography 5 лет назад

      @@HaiTran then why u are using that adapter? I cant slide it left or right, and below the quick release plate there is a usb port...

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  5 лет назад +1

      I use the adapter because everything else that I use is Arca Swiss. It makes my life easier. The lock is not on the USB port side. It’s on the 2.5mm input side. If there really is no way to slide left/right, then you’ll either need an adapter like mine or balance the gimbal as it is.

    Thanks for the great video!
    I was just wondering, when you balance your gimbal when using a zoom lens, do you usually have the lens extended to the aproximate focal length for your shot?
    I use an AK2000S with a follow focus motor to control the zoom mid-shot, and I'm not too sure where to put my median balancing poition for the zoom lens.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  3 года назад +1

      The medium zoom point is an option. I usually just balance at the len's shortest length and let the gimbal motor deal with it when the lens is extended. I'd rather not have the gimbal bounce around when it's not on by balancing at the point where I would keep the setup the most.

    Great Video, super helpful teaching me how to balance my Ak2000. I do have a question. Once I have it balanced, do you think I could mark it for easier setup later if it became unbalanced? Having said that I understand it would have to be for that camera and the lens I balanced it with.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 года назад +1

      Yes, you can mark the positions for easier setup if you'd like.

    Will this gimbal support a camera that is less than 2 pounds? Like a Black Magic pocket Cinema Camera?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  6 лет назад

      Considering that the BMPCC by specs weigh more than the A7RII used in the video, an educated guess would say that with a lens mounted the gimbal would be able to support it since I was able to get the setup in this video balanced.

    Hi. Great video! Just a quick question tho. I see you can adjust the base (so the camera can get near to the motor) but my base isnt moveable to the left or right. Mine is AK2000. How can you move yours? Thanks!

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  5 лет назад

      There is a locking switch towards the back of the camera carriage, the side closest to the roll motor.

    • @HaiTran

      It's a silicone case. They're available for a variety of cameras. The one I bought was from a random brand and was the cheapest that I could find. Just check Amazon and eBay for your particular camera.

    That was a very well explained video thanks. Im guessing smaller length or weight lenses will be easier to balance. Im glad Ive just looked back at tyour AK4000 review - seems like its a bad gimbal.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  6 лет назад

      There is a happy place when considering the size and weight of the camera setup. There is such a thing as being too lightweight or not long enough in a direction. You can of course also go too large. It's a trial and error process.

    • @markshirley01

      @@HaiTran do you still think it's a bad gimbal.

    • @HaiTran

      It definitely has some interesting quirks. Many that seems to be fixable via a firmware upgrade but who knows if that would ever happen. I'll say this, I wouldn't spend my personal money on it.

    great vid. thank you. Now do one to update the firmware. Seems to be one of the main shortcomings of the app/gimbal. Can't update the firmware to work with Canon, using the latest app. UPDATE. I downloaded the previous app version from Feiyu's web site, version 3.1.9 and installed that APK. Firmware updates fine now. Just doesn't work with their 3.1.10 May 7th version.

      I just connect it to the app, click update and that’s about it. I haven’t had a problem updating. I also don’t use Canon so can’t help you with that.

    • @HaiTran

      Short answer, I returned my Feiyu AK4000 for a refund. Also, I have seen the video that you've linked. I've tried the various tips that Feiyu gave in the video before they even made the video and I think they may have made it because of my video. Most of the tips revolve around making sure that you have the gimbal properly balanced. That did not work in my case. Another tip is to change the payload settings. I also tried this and none of the payload settings seemed to solve my issues. The last tip seems to be to make sure that everything is tightened and that things aren't making contact where they're not supposed to. This is pretty straightforward as it's pretty much a part of the balancing process so I would say that this also did not work. I would say that even though the gimbal did not work out for me and if you're interested in it, it may be worth a try for yourself. I may have just received a faulty product.

    • @MrPinkfloydian
      @MrPinkfloydian 6 лет назад

      That's what I've thought it would happen.
      Well... I better not risk trying it :-/. For me, my first impression of this product was the price (not bad at all, right?) and it seemed very robust. So it started by being all very suspicious :-) Too good to be true. But, like you say, it's very difficult to find the perfect one, with all the perfect features that this AK4000 offers (all the ones that should work).
      Thanks again!

      I was personally looking for something that would be good for vlogging. So, something lighter weight. The Feiyu AK4000 is one of the lighter gimbals but has one of the highest max payloads. This seems like a win-win combo until I got it in hand. Anyways, I hope you find a gimbal that works out for you 👍
