I’ve had people offer me food plenty of times when I drove Uber. McDonald’s, Taco Bell, actually a full pizza, brownies (the innocent kind) and stuff from gas stations. I used to tell people no, but then half the time or more…I wouldn’t get a tip from them after their ride and so after that, whenever anyone offered me some sort of food item, I would gladly accept or have them grab me a Red Bull when asked if i wanted anything from the gas station. I wanted to get my tip somehow.
So is this like an american thing or?? I have never tipped a driver, I have never even had the app ask. I have never heard of anyone tipping one either, nor have I heard a driver ask or even mention them. This is my experience from Europe however.
What’s helped me to not feel those as heavy as I used to, is not to take myself so seriously. We all mess up and make mistakes. And if people point and laugh, we’ll take it in. Try and make em laugh even more lmao. ❤

Not really relevant, but I am a former Uber driver (over 3.4k trips). I miss it. Had mostly nice interactions and often talked about a lot of different stuff with a lot of different people. It was cool and fun. I should have made more Uber videos like this. I think it’s a cool idea.

If I made a joke and felt it might have been inappropriate, and especially when a quiet car ride reinforces that, I'd just say "I am sorry if my joke went over the line earlier" - that way it isn't too awkward and you already said sorry, whilst also acknowledging that you understand if it was, and the person can just say "no, no, it's fine" or "yeah.. it was weird, but it's all good" or, well, they get mad, but then that was probably unavoidable.
That guy is like, “what’s your worse uber experience” to “yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like, yeah”. I would tell them, “you guys are my worst uber experience.”
tbh the girl might have just been shy. i'm really shy, maybe its just social anxiety, but i usually don't say a word in ubers either. even if i enjoyed a joke the driver made, i kinda react the same way. i'll laugh and just move on. i just can't make conversation like that, i'm just too shy. so don't awlays take it as a bad thing or that ur joke didn't land :)

I’m not shy anymore. I’ve just embraced I’m introverted and not super into having a conversation most of the time. I’m not very good at conversation but my social anxiety is gone for the most part at least.
I find it wild how many people sit in the front seat… I have a hunch it’s because I’m black, but riders sit in the back at all cost. They’ll legit pick straws at who rides passenger when it’s 4 riders and the most cliche is the black person of a 4 person group always sits shotgun. The only times people sit shotgun with me is when it’s 1 person and it’s an elder person that needs to sit higher for their back. Wild yo

I’ve used U er twice. The first time was from the airport and the car set was covered in dog hair and the male driver did not say one word to me. The second time, the female would not stop talking about a famous cellist 25 yrs younger than her that she was moving out of the country for. I warned her that it was a scam and thanked her.
I’m surprised so many single passengers get in your front seat. I’ve been doing Uber for about a month now and I don’t think anyone’s ever gotten in my front seat unless there were also people in the back seat
