Aw! That sucks! I had a similar problem when my Cadillac DeVille power antenna broke and I bought a replacement online just to find out that I couldn't use it. Right after I removed the broken one. Your struggle was not vain my friend as this video was a great source of knowledge for me. Now I know how to replace my broken air vents properly!

I watched this video in hopes of finding out how to remove the dash pad and trim. I probably would have been cussing up a storm trying to get those vents out if I hadn't come across this video. LOL Thanks for the post. Maybe you should change the name to dash pad, trim and cluster removal.

its a 7mm .. not 9/32. Also there is a third screw when removing the wood trim. It is a vertical screw right above the the left middle vent. The two pieces of trim are interlocked as well.

If you ahve a fully working analog cluster, just swap out the whole thing. They are interchangeable .. and the analog cluster looks sooo much better.

After watching the video I came to the comments to post this also, good catch. I did the digital to analog swap on my 2000 Deville a couple of years ago, love it!

Oh. Better to disarm the SIR system. #8 fuse under the seat. Also, the yellow connector under the passenger's side. Pull the kick panel.

I tried and failed (broke one) to get the vents out of my 04 Deville a decade ago, and now I can't remember why I wanted to. I liked most of the interior better than the '08 DTS that replaced it. The DHS has real wood (encased in plastic), it's a shame to add fake stuff, but we guys like to mark our cars. At least it smells better than peeing on it.

I have a crack half that size in my devill. My whole dasbord is dropped 1.5 inches. How to this this. Any one else dealt with that.
Oh I LOVE MY CADDI. 2001 80K MILES. GOT IT FOR ALMOST NOTHING. IT
BELONGED TO SIS IN LAW MOM. ONLY ISSUE? My inst. Cluster is loose and now slight curling of dash panel between. Any help???
    Peace-out 1🌎💕

All that is not necessary to remove the instrument cluster. Dash pad can stay in. Simply lift Pad and remove screws to the left and right of cluster .Trim bezel well then slide out enough to remove screw on top of right vent. You can take a screwdriver and pop right hand bezel out completely. It is an eight minute job.

I have done this job before, only the hard way and from what I remember yes your way should work. To lift the dash pad up can you leave the three 10mm bolts under the defroster grill still in? I have to take my cluster out again and would much rather do it your way than the way I am used to.

@@jamesorozco1243 My way is like this video, but Paul's way seems like a piece of cake and a lot easier than this video to remove the instrument cluster.
