Love the shirt. It was done to pay homage to Dillon for making the great regional racers better because he was beating them a lot. Racers understand getting beat makes you better when you win against the best. Racers are a different breed from the norm.
Remember talking with Davey when he came to Christchurch New Zealand 🇳🇿 to race for the great Ivan Mauger , i started flattrack around 1987, built my bike from a book called Harley Racers, no internet in those days, My flattrack set up is a little different to how you guy's in the states do it, but it works well, im 54 years young nowadays but got 2nd in last season in the local championship not bad for a forty year old bike racing against modern fule injected bikes ill try include a pic of it
What attributes make a modern dirt bike better or worse for a dtx setup? Are the newer fuel injected bikes superior to their earlier carbureted models?
Great to have an ear from a master and so far away from you (Europe) ! With a back ground of car engineer but newly involved in motorcycle suspension to make right a dirt bike... tentativ.. :-) Please, were shall we start in terms of rear suspension stiffness. I can just guess by watching it looks close to road or trail bike frequency ride (may be 2.5-3 daN/mm measured at the wheel to get rid of topologie consideration ?) ie much stiffer than a mx bike. Or is it totally wrong direction ?!! many thx !!
sorry, I hadn't seen the Pt2 which just hit the screen ! thx. So sounds like good direction. I can feel in the comment 90% comes from experimentation but any value would be appreciated. Thx anyway
Why is the R6 forks so good? Why on twins bikes do most racers use 43 mm forks. Why not 41 or 39. Why no inverted forks. I run 39mm 2003 Harley-Davidson fxdx forks that are three way adjustable. Should switch to 43 mm fork?
No expert but I'll share what I know . R6 forks are conv forks with cartridge damping . R6 version closest to ideal for dirt track , most Japanese 600 have run a version of this KYB or Showa fork at one time . Change your forks after adjustments and experience prove you need to.
may I put additionnal question about R6 fork to make "front end lesson" : what are basic modifications to turn a stock R6 piece into a good dirt bike component ? spring rate ? spring length ? bump stops ? thx !

True that. My son and his buddy came up with that.
That's a hell of an honor. I have a couple ideas for '22 to make them even better.

Welcome to SC Mr Durelle! Dang, that shirt is tough. Looking forward to more.
Nice to hear from manufacturers/engineers
Davey, a pikes peak legend too!

Let's hear about TC in FT
What are the pros and cons of a front axel being on center (RoadRace style) vs having the front axel offset to fork center (mx style)?

You are thinking correclty. Rates for Flat Track will far stiffer than dirt bike rates. More like roadracing.
