I would say while Ma long is the one who brings glory to the Chinese team, Xu xin is the great protector, securing titles, medals and prizes for all-Chinese showdowns in singles, doubles and mixed doubles, at the same time, preserving and innovating the penhold style. Utmost respect to you , Xuperman. I just hope he gets one major title (OG 2020) in his career. He has done so much for the team...

@@awfan1642 And you are delusional/don't understand how chinese team chooses their players. XX since his loss against Mizutani has burned all his chances of getting a singles spot for Tokyo. And the Budapest loss against Gauzy didn't help his case. If not you, CNT cares, a lot, about these big matches. That's why ML didn't play singles in London 2012 and ZJK had a spot for Rio 2016. They don't care if XX can win pro tours, he doesn't perform in big events (and he doesn't even win so many pro tours). But people like to live in their own dream world. It's satisfying until the wake up call...
What a beautiful match! Table Tennis at its best. FZD has finally returned to his best form. Both players played some exceptional shots. Xu Xin is also in great touch this year! Well done
Without a doubt, Fan is the better player when he is at his best. At his peak, the only player that can counter with Fan is the Great Ma Long.
Xu Xin decided to make risky backhand strokes at last sets, and he made a lot of backhand errors in last sets.
China is famous in often copying known techniques in various fields . But in table tennis, the penholder reversed side backhand style is really very own creative chinese invention with the brightest representative now, Xu Xin. It is interesting to see how this rarely chinese invention style compete with traditional world shakehand style.

Wang Hao is the better representation of the penhold backhand. Xu Xin is good but I have to say he is not quite as good as Ma Lin and Wang Hao.

ittf gets less and less sponsors, don't be surprised about the video quality as ittf is an amateur organization indeed.
Magic X Spending 1-2 thousand USD is not much at all especially when they can get a camera sponsor to show off the company's capture rate and get the camera for free

Adam Bobrow talks to much. Is not a class. Spectators don't need to hear about techniques or his opinions. Commentator speaks about a great rally or special moments.

I really hoped XX could win. But FZD again proves his capability amid the doubts of many.

Xu Xin played MORE matches (Singles, Doubles and XD) than any other player, male or female in both German Open and the Swedish Open last week. He is exhausted.
Xu xin lost, because he is exhausted. He won, then he is xuperman. You see, fan played Laing jing kun 4:3, he should be more exhausted in the final. No more excuses for xu xin’ lose.

Where are the people who were saying fzd was addicted to online gaming. Shame on them creating rumors about a great player when he is in his bad phase. What a simple and kind player he is, winning a gold after 343 days in a world tour and no over the top celebration.
Finally, Fan Zhendong! Way to return to his old dominant form. Hope his resurgence continues leading up to Tokyo 2020. Congratulations!
What a fascinating game! The best of 2019 so far. It is great to watch two of my favorite players play. FZD is finally back!

We have to wait and see. If you can notice that Fan is very good but not the same player he once was. We can never guess when ITTF will think of something to fuc....kup players like Mr. Fan.

Xuxin don't screaming and not ambition to preserve their friendship
Whomever coached Fan Zhendong to victories in two games against Wang Chuqin and Xu Xin was brilliant. Fan relentlessly attacked the middle of the table that handcuffed Wang to play his power shot . Fan also patiently played short balls mixed with deep push to the corner, then attacked Xu Xin weak backhand flip.
My hero is back. Good Job FZD

I must say I stopped following Table Tennis for the last 3 months, when Xu Xin looked tired... So how the hell can this guy perform once again ? He is an absolute monster, what a come back !

Short pushes just over the net shows how much superb ball control they have. Just patiently waiting for a chance to kill. A lot of other players will play a long way away from the table exchanging loop drives but ball control is actually the basis of the game. XuXin lost on the relatively inferior RPB but since then he improved it so much and won 3 titles after. God bless the cloud walker. Love them both.
Fan it's your time hereafter. Well deserved title. He s more exhausted than Xu Xin but he had shown his supreme mental strength 👍 Xu deserves high respect.
Great match! Very high level this one. Not the first time the monster Xu Xin get beaten but this time he's playing at his best (at least 4 first games). Fan is doing an incredible job, consistency of forehand precision is top notch, yet when Xu is truing to corner him into backhand he's awsomely steady too.

Holy $hit! I can see the ball! XU XIN 7:20 ! Then 8:18 wow. This is FZD at his finest. Liu Guoliang apparently told him he needs to be a mental champion again. I can see it here.

Sadly, I think this Fan Zhen Dong is roughly 70-80 % of what he was at his peak.
Well played by both players, but I feel like XX was less focused on the last set, maybe exhausted. FZD finally back to his best state, mentally and physically.

Xu seems to be using a fairly different equipment
Both are great players .i think FZD played smart by attaking xu xin BH 2 & 3 ball with short and half short slow push. XU XIN is a master of attaking spinny balls ,Short & long chops ,top spin and saide spin. He convert the power of the in coming spinny ball to a super powerful attack. FZD is some what stronger attacking slow ball so he take first control of the rally ( nuterlly becuse he is a BH player, and BH is easier to flip). FZD set the rally so he will attack XU XIN BH with he's FH.

bro, for the ones who thinks xu xin is undefeatable, you are wrong, he also loses sometimes, yeah this year was a great year for him not gonna lie.
but the top player always changes, last year fzd was a machine, he literally was winning everything, and he just got a bad moment at his career, what happens to everybody.
so stop making excuses for xu xin that he was tired or something like this, fzd has a big capacity to win every championship, including xu xin!
how did xx pull up so many amazing back hand far from table
FZD changed his tactic, he didn't always do chiquita anymore, he did much backspin serves instead of reversed pendulum serves. Instead, he dropped shot and sliced the ball with much backspin into XX's backhand, XX then stroked a topspin into FZD's wide forehand, FZD covered it very well.
樊振东离其巅峰状态还有不少差距，正反手进攻质量和稳定性都很一般，而且是在对手没有给你多大压力的情况下。不过，从提升士气上来说，这个冠军实在太重要了。
許昕狀況不好，跟平常很不一樣，這是在讓球嗎？
而樊振東前幾場比賽打得很好，實力看來是恢復了，但這場比賽，狀態不好，應該是壓力太大了。

Fan Zendong seems to have recovered. More aggressive, more determined and of course more effective
ITTF is obviously pushing for their website to be used as their main viewing platform. While I don't think this is the best move everyone saying they are using bad cameras are pretty ignorant. They obviously want you to go to their website to watch the matches in high quality so you get custom ads.
It's not that hard to comprehend. Their website kinda sucks but the quality of the videos are great.

Congratulations to fzd, xx is really tired, he plays too many matches every day, if he is not exhausted, he could play more patiently and more precisely, have a good rest xx, you are super man and iron man.
I disagree on that one. I've seen Xu Xin in the condition you say, and eventually got a few avoidable defeats because of that, but in this match he looks very tight. Just Fan Zhendong getting raising his confidence through the match, with impressive precision skill. Last game XX seemed a bit off admitedly.

Xiao Pang really proved hinself. Xu's missing many shots just slightly into the net, proving Fan's quality. A tight match.

Very smart of FZD to transition to a short touch game for certain points. The smarter player in this specific match for sure.

Based on recent results I think other players did not improve much, but Fan zhendong and Harimoto have stopped improving themselves. Look how struggling Fan was when playing against Xuxin recently. Xu xin is usually a non-aggressive and not very competitive player. Dominant players like Fan used to beat Xu xin quite comfortably. In this match Fan did stop using banana flick blindly and used more drop shot return instead. But at time he showed frustration because things did not work out well for him, and went back to the bad old habits.

Adam is a huge fan of Xu Xin. However, he should keep the commentary more neutral than biased towards Xu Xin all the time! Fan is back and Xu Xin was no match at this caliber!

Fan Zhendong is finnally back. I guess new ball, mental pressure and exhaustion took a toll on him. He looked like he lost weight as well as speed and power, but now he looks to be inform although I can't say if he will be as dominant as his past self, but this from is still good enough to become number 1.

FZD no longer sucks as a player.
Xu Xin´s BH is getting nicer
There needs to be more coverage of the foreground and the area around the playing arena. Also include the officials and the space around them. You could use a more panoramic view of the sports complex. The lighting needs to be dimmed and adjusted for more shadows. Unless these measures are taken, the players and the ball will still be visible to those watching the video.
Why the video quality is so poor? And it's very uncomfortable to see the ball clear.

It doesn’t matter if Fan is addicted to video games, he is still game when it comes to table tennis.
I have heard that rumor too from Chinese forums.I Highly doubt the credibility though as Liu Guo Liang once said during a team meeting session that Fan has the strongest ambition for his career in table tennis than any other young players in the national team.

you can notice how FZD make most of his point on xu xins backhand side. he always tries to avoid forehand side of xu xin. FZD knows its his weaker hand.

I believe xu xin lost because his backhand not steady and perfect enough against someone like malong and fzd , so he still have to use his forehand right ? The problem his body isnt what he have back in his golden age . Just watch xx vs vladimir samsonov back in his early career , he practicaly almost didnt use his bachkand but still managed to keep the game on . With that being said fzd simply outclasses xuxin
