Sofia Talvik - Center of the Universe

Last summer I was driving through southern Utah, and we stopped to look at the amazing petroglyphs that adorned the cliff side in this valley we were driving through. The information board told me about the Hopi tribe that had lived there in peace and wealth for centuries - until one day they just disappeared. Archeologists think they were assimilated into other tribes, or killed in a battle, but the Hopi themselves tell a different story. They said the tribe went to the center of the universe. The place where they were always meant to go.
On tour I go through a lot of Walmarts and I’m always saddened by the pictures of the missing children. Sometimes I stop to look at these pictures of children and teens that have been missing for so many years. This song is a wish that they went where the Hopi went - to a place of peace and enlightenment in the center of the universe.
"Centre of the Universe" was recorded during the Corona outbreak. Our SxSW tour was canceled and we're doing Quarantine sessions somewhere on the coast of Texas.
