First Luitenant Clarence E. Coggins was awarded for securing the surrender of almost 1,000 Nazi soldiers with an immediate promotion to Captain. Which was clearly well deserved, but arguably more importantly, to him anyway, was that he was allowed to sleep finally the entire next day lol after spending the previous couple days helping to ferry surrendering enemy soldiers back and forth 10 to 20, or sometimes even hundreds at a time, through the American lines. Unfortunately, a little later in 1945, his company was trapped in a church with heavy shelling all around them. The men decided that they needed to escape during one of the lulls in battle, so they came up with a plan where Coggins would send up a signal flare to show they were ready. When the other American forces in the area saw the flare, they would cease fire until the church was evacuated and then renew their efforts again to drive the German forces out from the area. Coggins lit the flare and then waited until the last soldier in his company was out before setting off himself at a mad dash through the church doorway. Sadly,, that was when German gunfire stopped him on the church steps, where Coggins was shot to death. Captain Clarance Coggins passed away on January 7, 1945. He received 2 Silver Stars, 1 Bronze Star, 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, 2 Purple Hearts and the Gold Star. More important than the medals he received was the lives he saved. Remembered as; "Lt. Coggins," and remembered as one of the finest men who have ever served. 🇺🇸

Krauts didn't want any of the crocodile!
The Crocodile was considered one of the worst designed & performing tanks in the war
Outstanding! Does my heart good to see those fascist bassards getting a big dose of American style freedom!
@Stefan Burscheid Blow me fiver.
"What did you do in the war Daddy?"
"Well son, I dubbed in machine gun and rocket sounds to our aircraft propaganda films."
Amazing how a burp gun sounds just like a machine gun.
@@skydiverclassc2031 It is even more amazing that explosions 1 to 5 miles away have the sound instantly.
@@brucewelty7684 ..the home front didn't give 2💩💩💩.
Good film but too many repeat shots
