    This hi-breed is definitely a complete instrument for expressing Raga with better playing comfort than any other conventional Hindustani instrument. Modified steel guitar has entered into mainstream hindustani classical arena long before and now this one is also destined for same.

    the guitar engineering looked impressive. the sound didn't feel quite like Indian Ragas. Something major felt missing. It just sounded like guitar. The drone sound and table was in the right direction.

    • @kvnboudreaux
      @kvnboudreaux 7 лет назад +5

      Jeet Ray I agree, he should use a slide or utilize bends because he is missing the meend sound that is so characteristic of Indian music

    • @808music3
      @808music3 6 лет назад +3

      I agree. No westerners have the ability to recreate the true essence of Indian sitar. Best not meddle with the original.
      Sounds silly.☝️🤪
      He hasn’t a clue how beautiful the sitar is and how you use it! It’s all in the hand and touch not the other way round.

    • @poodle3507
      @poodle3507 5 лет назад +6

      808 Music it's not a Sitar yeah.
      Sitars can't imitate guitars either. Playing classical music of Europe on sitar would sound ridiculous too, I agree. Compared to sitar, this is inferior for Indian music, it's like if you tried to play a lute piece written by Bach with a sitar.

      Los 'ragas' son como una especie de 'Teoría musical' en la India, pero, con un planteamiento más 'abstracto'.
      Supongo que alguien que ha estudiado 'Ragas' podría aplicarlas a otros instrumentos 'solistas' a parte del Sitar.

    Around 03:45 Nadaka says, "In South of India .. we don't care as much about the time of the day for particular modes."
    On the contrary, i have found Indian music schools of music to be extremely fastidious about the modes played at specific times of the day, and even include considerations for the seasons and occasions apart from time of day.
    Maybe i misunderstood Sri Nadaka ji's context, but what i heard him say here didn't sound right.

    Beautiful music, playing and the instrument.
    Can anyone tell me? :
    Are all Raga guitars that expensive 6 or 7 thousand dollars?
    Are there guitars of this type available to buy at a much more budget price?
    I know one can experiment with a normal acoustic, doing some little cheap tricks to obtain a similar sound. The bottom line is- it will never be even close to one like this, even much cheaper model.
    Any comments welcome.
