Clearly, Tosh aimed 'traitor' to suffer from his voodoo magics. Cause he thought Raynor betrayed him. But the truth is, Tychus was the real traitor in hyperion.

Wrong doll
The joke is that Tychus made a doll out of Jim's marine armor, except since Jim doesn't wear his armor when not in combat, the doll doesn't work on him and instead hurts another marine nearby...who is Tychus who can't get out of his marine armor.
I know it's dark comedy, but there's also some subtle foreshadowing towards the end of the WoL campaign. Remember, Tosh was furious that Jim betrayed him, but somehow, the voodoo worked on Tychus instead. Hindsight is 20/20, but perhaps that was the moment when you are hinted that Tychus was hiding a deep, dark secret, bordering treachery on his part.

She stabbed me in the dick!! WHY??? WHY DID SHE STAB ME IN THE DICK???
For everyone trying to decide between tosh and nova, siding with nova will have tosh killed, get you a couple of ghosts, and then you'll never see nova again (except in this cutscene)
But if you pick Tosh, Nova doesn't get harmed, you get spectres, and later in the game, dr. hanson reveals that spectres aren't any more insane or crazy than regular ghosts.
but you don't get this awesome cutscene
kinda of a necro, answering 13 years later, but, if you get ghosts and wait long enough on the armory, sometimes Nova will show up to inspect the ghosts she gave you, and cloak herself out of the room

As much as i Like tosh, this cutscene is one of my favorite, if only for the humour.
I have a slight 'Poor Tychus' moment, even now. Then I start trying to keep a straight face.

I think the game was set so that if you pick one, you dont feel bad about not choosing the other one. Cause i picked this one, and had no idea she lied. Maybe she didnt lie if you pick her. Reality and theory are so amazing things to look at in games...
@@janmoravek157 That's the thing I hated about Wings of Liberty. Whatever you chose, the game changed to make your decision the correct one - for example, Tosh vs Nova? Pick Nova, Spectres are murderers, rapists, thugs. Pick Tosh? You just freed journalists, poets and loyal soldiers. Protoss vs Doctor? Pick Protoss, and the colony is fully infected. Pick the Doctor, there are barely any infected and all ends well for the colony.

What actually happens is that picking one option causes the other to escalate into doing worse things in response to you going against them.
Spectres are never actually shown to be psychopaths, funnily enough even if you side with Nova (they actually have more mentally stable voice lines than Ghosts) and siding with Tosh then speaking to the doctor confirms that Nova was lying. However, if you side with Nova then Tosh aggressively ramps up Spectre production in dubious ways because he knows he's about to get attacked and needs something to respond to that attack in desperation. Tosh is technically always the right moral choice, but he isn't above doing shady things when he needs to so he is willing to do drastic measures when cornered.
Same with doctor vs Selendis; when siding with doctor, the few colonists who are infested are just put in a cute little research pen because the uninfested ones are hiding behind Jim's forces. When siding with Selendis, the colonists are screwed and know it so they resort to willingly mass infest themselves because that's the only way they might survive against Jim and Selendis. The doctor is always the right moral choice, but because her colonists are so unable to protect themselves and are so afraid of getting Warhammer40k Exterminatus'd by the Protoss that they resort to literally anything to survive which includes zerg infestation (i mean, that's a 1% chance of survival vs 0%).

This was probably the funniest cinematic in Wings of Liberty in my opinion.

This scene is actually a whole lot sadder if you've read the SC Ghost Academy comics.

Nova and Tosh were actually in a relationship once (and saw themselves as soulmates). But, Ghosts aren't allowed to form attachments.
So the Dominion plugged both of them into a neural resocializer and tried to brainwash them into being perfect, emotionless tools.
It worked on Nova. It didn't work on Tosh.
So here, Tosh is being killed by his old love that can no longer remember loving him.

@@ezrabraman6437 She was 15 when she first joined the Ghost program of the Dominion, and during that time she became involved in a relationship with Tosh when she was 16, if I recall correctly. Gabriel Tosh at the time had turned 18 when their relationship became romantic in nature, I think.

I love Tosh 😢😢 I can never choose Nova path in the campaign. Tosh is a real buddy, trust worthy and full of insights. He respects and helps Jimmy, and saves his own men, then trains spectres to be one of the most reliable units for Jimmy. No reason why he should be killed.
Agree!!! Tosh is one of the closest Jimmy's friends in my opinion and he s super cool, so a always choose Tosh, nevertheless i also really like Nova

There's a little mention in HotS that Tosh is canonically alive after Wings of Liberty. So the Starcraft canon agrees with you.

I think since it was Raynors MARINE suit which he was not in at the time, it went for the closest thing. Tychus in his suit which seemed like Raynor. so it chose Tychus Instead of Raynor

Remember, Tosh is an incredibly powerful psychic. This isn't actually voodoo magic, it's Tosh trying to focus his psionic powers.
Poor Tychus.
Nova once used a massive mindblast to wipe out a large group of zerg during an early mission; it worked, but it also heavily damaged Tosh (physically and psionically). The upside was that it scrambled Tosh' brains in a good way as well, and it him immune to resoc and allowed him to shield his thoughts, even from powerful psionics with a Psi Index of 8-10. It also turned his eyes milky-white.
Nova remained vulnerable to resoc, unfortunately.

not if u used communication devices based around quantum entanglement. Look it up some time.
The main principal behind it is 2 atoms (or two halves of the same atom. not sure which) are somehow connected. When you do something specific(don't remember what) to one of the "entangled atoms" the other instantly reacts. no matter the distance. So if you could read the reactions of the atom. you could send and receive information in real time. Mass effect used this idea on the remade Normandy.

I like it how there is an 2 alien races, an old god, millions and millions of units/vehicles what are identical and sound exactly the same to each other, nukes what only seem to nuke about 5 meters, people what can go invisible, space ships what can warp jump and go through wormholes, protoss what somehow evaporate into a firework when they die and yet you seem to complain about one of the most simplest of things in this game...... Right.
I love how Jim and Matt are just looking at Tosh and his voodoo doll awkwardly.

@MrAlexofMetal You get Spectres instead of Ghosts, and you get to talk to Tosh all the way til the end. He provides a little foreshadowing and insight in between missions to help the plot moving. Personally, I don't use either unit, but I like having Tosh around the ship to talk to. In the Haven missions, it's just a preference of which research you want to max out more quickly. There seems to be less Protoss research early on, so I always pick the Protoss side.

You're wrong. Specter's- 15 damage, 20 armor. 2 weaponspeed. Ghost- 10 damage-20 damage light-1.5. So it is about the same. (Techinicaly) but I would say ghost are better because of their extra life and range. But their dps is higher in some respect.
That was hilarious how Tosh stabbed the doll and they thought nothing happened. Wouldnt they hear Tychus' suit hitting the ground?
The Hyperion is not a small ship, so no.
The Hyperion is over a kilometer long.
You can argue over whether the Spectre or the Ghost are the way to go, but to me, this cutscene makes siding with Nova totally worth it.

I felt Tosh was the way to go, and I don't like betraying someone who helped me so much.
They will probably expand your decisions into the HOS. I picked to help the protect the Doctor and to help Tosh. I hope Kerrigan doesn't kill Nova though.
You all are forgetting one thing, in pure badassness, Nova pwned Tosh, she's sitting there listening to him waiting for the most perfect Raynor line to strike, and yes, I used the term pwned, for old times sake.

Sometimes they lock down your armor and tease you while you're immobilized. And sometimes they turn into genocidal monsters and kill billions of people before going "I'm sorry" and leaving you alone only to ascend to godhood and then come back to take you away with them after over half a decade. I call that last one "The Longest Cockblock in StarCraft History." Hell of a first date, really.

Nova always was and still is my favorite SC character, not just for the good looks, but also for her background-story (For those that want to know more about her, there is a whole Novel about her ^_^).
So it was a real easy choice for me, but that she killed off that stupid ugly Tosh after siding with her, was a REAL bonus! I disliked him from the moment he set foot on my Raynors' ship; good riddance him. I hope that when the story is progressed by Blizzard that they go with this plot option.

@thuzan117 Yeah. I find them better than the Ghost's snipe ability, which only works on biological units, which make it almost completely unusuable on Protoss units. In fact, it's unusuable on certain Zerg units, too, which is weird because I was like, "Uhh, aren't all the units in Zerg biological?"

@sporepid Cloaking technology means they learned how to bend light, and in other cinematics space ships use warp drives. So having a video call from diffrent places in space is probebly ezmode ^^

The way hyper drives work is by slipping into a slip space, using a wormhole I already mentioned wormholes
sound doesn't travel at light speed so it's slower lol the only possible thing is that they actually send it through warp jump-hole or something around those lines.
@ProbeIke tychus once wore that armor as squad leader for raynor in one of the books and he was the only one wearing armor at all on the ship
I'm 26 years old. When I was 6 years old I played a game called King's Quest 6 and I instantly recognized tosh's voice as the pawn shop owner from the game 20 years ago. I looked it up on imdb and it's him. Wierd how your brain locks stuff like that down from when you were a kid.

The pros of siding with Tosh:
1. Spectres are badass. They're like dark templars with rifles and an infantry yamato cannon.
3. The spectres' AoE stun helped me so much in brutal. And they do bonus damage vs armored.
Pros of siding with Nova:
1. Ghosts do bonus dmg against light units.
2. Their 45 dmg snipe helps a lot against kerrigan in All In.
3. Ocular implants are bloody useful. The extra sight range benifits your siege tanks.
I was like "...humm it nearly gives me the same units so.. well the girl looks good." But then i was like : "No , bros for hoes. " Yet again i was like : "But the girl looks good" So anyway i know ghosts better than phantoms(never change a winnin team) and i liked the girl so i went with Nova in the end
Stayed loyal to Tosh but still loved this cutscene especially the end where Nova stabbed Voodoo doll in the balls XD

It's a pitty Nova doesn't remember Tosh. They were on a ''relationship'' back when they were young and both were being trained as ghosts.
I'm sure Blizzard made this on purpose for those of us that know their past.

I agree and that was my point by saying i think theyre using wormholes and such to travel faster than light, but speeding up till speed of light and faster is not possible.
a couple of spectres can easily keep kerrigan under wraps during the final mission as well
@GravityO0 sometimes I think Nova is supposed to be a rewind of Kerrigan, since they "killed" the human side of her (in a sense) back in SC1. It's a shame Blizz never finished Ghost. I wanted to play that.

I wonder if the people at the cantina are questioning what is wrong with Tychus after seeing him cry out in pain and tossed around like a rag doll.
they are six light years apart from each other and they are having instant conversation, they must have used something which travel way quicker than light to transfer data otherwise it's not possible

I see the point in killing him(But of corse I didn't because he has so nice dialogs later in the game) The thing is just that his end is actually really sad. All he cared about gone, fiddling around with that voodoo doll that to him apparently doesn't work, which makes him question his faith, revenge is the only thing left for him, but the man he hates just looks down on him with a sad face, he actually starts to be scared, and even his feeling of safety was a lie. Rest in peace bro
Edit: Aaaaaaand it turns out Hanson reveals that Phantoms are actually no danger. okay now I agree that nova sucks.
HoTS uses 'A' canon choices, one of which is Tosh lending Raynor the spectres.
if i remember correctly blizzard dev said what you chose in WoL affects the HotS. Plus you can play WoL in HotS like I said both options A or B are cannon its only a matter of who you want, or what you want.
@TheAle89515 What I'm surprised with is that she didn't use her psionic brain-exploding skill that was spoken of quite graphically a few times in her backstory. Doesn't seem like her style.
The sad part is Tosh and Nova were romantically involved but none of them remembers it due to the ghost/specter brainwipes by the Dominion
I hope this is just an alternate Starcraft Storyline (just so the player can see what would have happened) and Tosh comes back in Heart of the Swarm.
I played all 26missions and recieved the Normal Campagne Ace, and I dont remember ever seeing this cinematic.
