Cosmic Gate drops their new single "The Theme" on the Black Hole imprint.
Sometimes the release of a superb new single sees the light of day thanks to a surprising course of events. The same happened with "The Theme". In April Cosmic Gate contributed a mix for Armin's ASOT 500 Compilation. It was a mix full of classics from the late nineties up to the year 2000. One of these classics caught their full attention and so they made a re-edit of it for their DJ sets. Within the last months this re-edit became one of the biggest tunes in their sets and more and more fans and DJ colleagues started requesting it. So they thought, why not giving it an official release and here we go!?
The package of course contains the full lenght original version and also a radio friendly edit. Let's see what station will pick this bomb up first. And for those who don't remember the original, let's reveal the secret right here: it's Jurgen Vries - The Theme!

@NANOYPASTABASE I think they could've done more with it if they made it longer, but beforehand you have to take notice that they did a lot of major tweaking that really improved the track as a whole.... It flowed better. As for the bass part, I think there's a lot of other stuff that would've fit better, I'd agree. But it's still a good remake in my opinion.

@cristianbolillo New styles are fine, but people can take it a little personally when their favourite classics are changed in such a way that the original emotion is pushed to the side for techy stuff. Techy stuff is cool, but when the emotional melodic payoff is absent, it leaves a dissatisfied feeling. I don't mind the whole 'minimal drop' thing in modern trance as a concept, but it sure is overused.
This is a great production though, and for what it is it's very good. I won't be buying it tho

Minimal is great don't get me wrong but mix minimal and trance - (90% of the trance in the last 5 years) and it sounds so soulless. Just listen to the jurgan vries original dumonde mix and you will see
