      You missed flash bugs instead of flash pods.
      I get what you're going for with just giving a breakdown of how you're thinking when making an item loadout, but I think a better example of how you're thinking is to make several loadouts that just have one or two things you're thinking of with the 4 inv slots used by the charms. So there would be a loadout for 20 health potions, a loadout for 9 mega barrel bombs, a loadout for 10 flashbugs that you can craft into single pods, shoot, then not have to switch off to your regular pods. You even gave a good example of being able to create space in your inventory for crafting with the demon drugs and armor skins only being 1 stack, meaning that you will have an empty space to craft in once you drink.
      I think you can make this video a lot more informative

    Just a quick note on Demondrug and Mega Demondrug, they last the whole hunt, unless you die. If you cart the buff is removed and you’ll need to consume another demondrug, the same goes for Armorskin/Mega Armorskin. I carry 2 or 3 in my loadout for this reason in case i get smacked around by a monster

  • @j.jbinks9669
    @j.jbinks9669 7 месяцев назад +13

    One Tip: SKIP THE MEGA POTIONS! They take too long to fully consume without investing into Speed Eating and in MR they give you 4 *free* ones in every quest anyway. Just take the Max and Ancient Potions and the mats to craft more Max's, it'll give you a much better grasp on Effective HP and Effective Damage rather than topping yourself up with a Mega every one or two hits. Doesn't matter how many Mega's you chug if the monster you're fighting will always kill you in 3 hits.
    Two Tip: Take ONE Might Pill with you on Elder Dragon hunts for the wake-up bomb in its final area (assuming it makes it there). That extra buff is really noticeable on a wake-up hit.

    A very useful guide, even 500 hours in, i learned some tips and i'll probably change a few of my loadouts and radial menus.
    I'm adding a quick tip about Alatreon and Fatalis specifically : you should make dedicated loadouts for those specifically, as they require some specifi items that you don't use often anywhere else. So don't forget to bring your Astera jerkeys for Alatreon and your smoke bombs alongside some materials to craft more for Fatalis, as you'll be using those all the time. Smoke bombs can alos be useful to bring for Safi if you're still making your way through the game and don't feel comfortable keeping the aggro for too long (granted, better equipped and skilled teammates should get it instead of you, but still).

    i think during progression of the base game, its nice to carry 8 mega potions, 4 antidotes, 4 nullberries, one of each traps and tranqs, 1 flashpod and about 4 dung pods.
    Itll cover 99% of what youll ruin into, and itll allow you to keep picking up items which is helpful for early game bounties, like herb and honey gathering

    I heavily advise using multiple item load outs. First because I can't imagine why you would need that many healing items, usually I can get away with just ancient and max potions if I'm carrying health booster, also because some things like antidotes, cool drink, and traps are situational, and some other things value depends on your weapon. And yeah, 95% of the time, especially in the endgame you don't NEED, extra inventory space, so bring everything, there are definitely situations where you do want to have space to pick things up.

    • @TyrBarghest
      @TyrBarghest 8 месяцев назад +2

      Okay so it's not only me that thought the insane amount of healing items were insane. I usually just bring the ten potions and ten mega potions. If any more than that is needed then there's a serious lack of skill going on. Well, that's how I've been doing at least.

    I would like to clarify something you said about the demondrugs/armorskins. You said that it lasts the duration of the fight which is not exactly accurate. It lasts until you faint so it is worth bringing several in each hunt if you know it is a tough hunt and you will likely faint. Just a minor clarification for new players.

    • @SirenXD.
      @SirenXD. 8 месяцев назад +4

      I think the idea is that if they die, they restock their loadout at camp. That's slow, so personally I bring a full stack of the drugs, but there's merit in wanting open inventory slots to grab some extra resources if your item box isn't overflowing.

    • @TheInnerHollow895
      @TheInnerHollow895 8 месяцев назад

      @@TheInnerHollow895 Yeah I don't either. I don't think the micro-optimization is worth it personally -- if you don't have the resources just bring a tighter loadout (10 mega potions, niche healing as necessary) so you can gather. Botany tree OP tho, so for folks with a decent item box already, there's just no reason to gather herbs or whatever.

    I've found that I can get better stats by cooking food with the (L) buff, mostly defense or elem resistance but attack if I have a good feel for the fight. Instead of wasting the stat boost in exchange for +50 health, I take mega nutrients to top off my health. Saving my max potions for critically fast heals. If you cart you'll be by your box and can eat more nutrients. Anyways. 10 mega potions plus 10 more to craft is enough for me for base game monsters.
    Also keep astral jerky on you, the jerky cures bleed but also it heals ALL of your RED health bar damage with one quick bite. Getting hit by end game monsters can leave you with up to 75% red health bar damage that can near instantly be healed with the jerky. Effectively healing you faster than potions, and oftentimes more than aega will heal you in those cases. Hope this helps!

    I'd recommend for players to bring about 7/10 items like Honey, Godbugs, Blue mushrooms etc. You are likely to find at least one of these in the duration of a hunt, so that way you are still able to gather a few of these items along the way instead of being maxed out from the start of a hunt.

    • @kjaere2313
      @kjaere2313 8 месяцев назад

      Realistically, this wont be able to be filled out till later in the game anyway. New players are still fairly limited on what they have access to till they progress.
      My new return playthrough, i have been running half inventory. Not because I want to, but I just dont have a lot of tools yet.
      Yeah, I could have farmed mats, but I find with the provided resources and ammo every mission (something I used to always ignore) has been pretty helpful.
      Especially running around and picking up honey to upgrade those First-Aid-Meds to the + version via autocraft. Free good heals :D

  • @kilikx1x
    @kilikx1x 8 месяцев назад +3

    Quick Note: The "item bar" is actually not randomly organized. Its based on the order you put items into your Inventory. Left to Right, Top to Bottom.
    Also for newer players its very important to know that some of these inventories can be really difficult to upkeep. For example lets say that you routinely take ~10 minutes to hunt a monster while keeping 100% buff uptime with the very first inventory shown.
    You need: 4x Bitter Bug, 4x Honey, 2x Mandragora, 7x Might Seeds, 3x God Bugs, 1x Adamant Seed, and 2x Dash Extract ()
    This assumes that you never heal even a single time which isn't very realistic for most players. I like the setup to some degree but its not something I would bring with me all of the time. It to me like you are using either a save editor or some mod to increase your item count by +1000 which isn't exactly fair to new players watching this video.

    Keep in mind though that for every item you bring, it is 1 less thing you can pick up in the hunt. In the very endgame this doesn't really matter, but for actual new players and those progressing through Iceborne, I'd strongly consider trimming much of the fat in these loadouts so that you can grab more things earlier to start a stockpile sooner. For example, bringing only 2 slots worth of healing (Potion, Mega Potion, Max Potion or Ancient Potion) and no extra crafting materials. You don't really go through 10 Mega potions in a hunt beyond maybe you're first encounter with a monster. Armourskin and Adamant Seed / Pills are not really that useful. The goal is to prevent getting hit, not reduce the damage you take when you get hit. Most of the use cases for these items are also cases where you can avoid the attack by a roll making it useless. Similarly Armourcharm and Armourtalon give such a tiny increase in defence that I personally don't think they are ever worth it.
    Only bring Demondrug, Might Seed and Might Powder if you're actually comfortable and willing to use them. No reason to lose 3 slots if you never actually use the buffs. Bringing 2 traps to a fight is great but if you're not actively using traps for openings, only captures, then you really only need 1. Also all capture quests will give you a shock trap in the box at camp so if you're only capturing when it's required, little point in wasting more slots for traps and tranq bombs. Bombs are also similar where they are only used when monsters are knocked or sleeping. If you never put them to sleep or don't use them while knocked, don't bring them.
    2 slots of healing, Herbal Medicine, Nullberries, Flash Pods, Dung Pods, Powercharm and Powertalon are really the only "required" things to hunt. I personally always bring Tranqs, a Shock Trap and Demondrug, Might Powder and Might Seed as well as Whetfish Scales for mid-fight sharpening. The rest of the items have much less use cases.

    • @GoBlueHTB

      Making a separate item loadout for expedition and guiding lands farming is pretty standard. This is for hunts, and you never want to waste time in a hunt gathering or farming anything.

    • @zabrac1566
      @zabrac1566 8 месяцев назад

      @@GoBlueHTB I dunno. Grabbing things as you go while progressing in a pack rat game. I'd guess the majority of people grab while hunting and barely do expeditions. Compared to never grabbing and spending time running expeditions to restock. I could be wrong but while going through the story for the first time I feel confident that is how most players will play.
      Like I said in my previous comment, in the end game you'll have tons of everything and no need to pick up anything and therefore no need to have spare inventory slots.

    • @VideogamesPang
      @VideogamesPang 8 месяцев назад

      @@zabrac1566 Why would you bring herbal medicine if the monster you're fighting doesn't have poison? Likewise for nullberries, they are pointless if you are not at risk of blights.

    For higher difficulty hunts, and arena hunts I take both Sushifish scales and Mega potions (no potions and honey) and the scales become my primary healing source as I edit the radial shortcut menu to reflect those changes. The scales are just superior to potions in every way except ease of scavenging and mid fight crafting. Doing this also reduces the need to bring mandragora and Mega Nutrients for max potions, although I still bring 2 max potions for emergencies I rarely have to use both. This saves a lot of item pouch space for other useful items that can be swapped out depending on what you're hunting including barrel bombs, smoke bombs, poison smoke bombs (which can hilariously poison large monsters), pods, traps, etc you get the point.
    Also, I always take whetfish scales, no matter the hunt, and they're also on the radial menu for quick sharpening midfight without fear which can really speed up your hunt times. I save the Great Whetfish for hardest hunts
    The pills are more useful if you run Item Prolonger (one of my favorite skills)
    The powders are still useful in singleplayer if you go out of your way to collect tailraiders.
    For fun I'd occasionally use smoke bombs to get out of monster sight briefly, and it's especially good to use them if you have earplugs since monsters like to roar first when they "resee" you. If you're a gunlancer wanting to get free Wyvern Fire hits in, smoke bombs can help!

    Put whetfish scales on your radial menu, it's free speed sharpening and you can get a quick sharpen in between many monsters attack cycles.
    I want to point out that sushifish scales don't just heal your red health bar, they heal for a set amount of health even if you have little to no red health. The healing values are 50 health for sushifish scale, and 100 health for great sushifish scale both of which are about 50% more than their potion counterparts. And they're instant. The only disadvantage is the higher scavenging requirment in acquiring them and being unable to craft mid hunt.
    There are times I go out with my fishing pole to farm fish scales and I used the argosy to also help me acquire more fish scales since I didn't really need monster parts or money.

    Another solution is to take Mushroomancer, then you only need 10 Mandragora and 2 Max potions (Giving you 12 max potions). Thus saving a lot of space and removing the crafting aspect while in a fight. You also don't need speed eater as using a Max potion / Mandragora only takes roughly 1.4 seconds compared to a Mega potion that takes 4+ seconds and only heals for 70.

    Made a comfy SnS set with Divine blessing, wide range, free meal, quick eat, earplugs, and other supportive skills to bring during multiplayer where i just eat potions in the corner. Nobody has died on my watch yet, except for that time when an underequipped host went solo and got 2 shot by a Lunastra before I got near enough to heal.

    I'd rather not recommend the power item except Demondrug + Armorskin.
    the reason is simple: the most important thing is your own playstyle.
    hit and run?
    hit and guard?
    counterattack?
    support and heal?
    all of those playstyles require you to chill and not be reckless. other items besides demondrug and armorskin have duration, which will disturb your playstyle and make you think "I'm gonna use the effect of the item efficiently before the effect expires" and guess what? the monster attack pattern won't always let you use those effects efficiently which leads to what reckless players usually do:
    GS mains will spam true charge blade but often miss the hit
    LS mains will spam the weeb slash but often miss the timing and die
    Some of the GS, L, GL, SnS, and CB mains will try to tank powerful monster attacks but forget to check their remaining health
    etc
    what new players should do isn't know what items to bring, but simply:
    > Know your weapon and what combo suits you the most
    > Read the monster attack pattern
    > Abuse monster's weakness
    > Counter monster's strength
    > Unlock mantles that suit your playstyle
    > Max out palico gadgets if you play solo
    > Grind as heck to don new armor and weapons

      I think it's good to get in the habit of using items early so by the time they start hunting the hardest monsters they aren't trying to learn how to use items on the fly and most likely forgetting to use them.

    Please consider making a progression guide should we just follow the main quests or do some other things first to unlock things fasteer etc etc . Also many of us new players have some questions like we are told capturing monsters is better than killing and vice versa .
    Also if we google , we get like 4-5 year old forum posts and guide and we don't know if they are outdated or DLC exclusive

      As a rule of thumb you should do the optional quests with the speech bubble as they are requests from specific NPCs.
      Those usually either give new tools or upgrades to facilities.
      Capturing Vs carving is situational, as different materials can have better odds from either carving or capturing. In MH:W the odds are hidden, meaning that you might want to search the odds for a specific material you are after.

    Great Sushifish Scales are good, but they are a pain in the ass to farm, so it's not realistic to use them reliably in every hunt. As a matter of fact, I only use them with wide-range during Escaton to carry newbies because it's the best thing for wide-range healing without bringing Mega Pots and wasting 3 slots for fast eating.

    Also poison smoke bombs. Your polico sleeps a monster, you use 2-5 of your poison bombs, place your barrel bombs on a nearby wall and flinch shot them onto said wall. This is better than any wakeup hit on any weapon. Monsters who even have 300 poison resistance like the black dragon Alteron I have been able to poison with poison smoke bombs. Unless you are already using a poison weapon, bring these bombs . Because of this an insect glaive with palico support can inflict every status on a foe, use a blast or paralysis glaive, use the opposite blunt kinsect, give your palico a sleep weapon and use the poison smoke bombs. Mount the monster and that is all 6 status (blast, paralysis, sleep, poison, stun, and mounting) in one hunt. If you can only choose 1 I would go with paralysis over blast kinsect

    • @garrettwiebeck
      @garrettwiebeck 8 месяцев назад

      Explain to me how sending the monster into your bombs and a wall is better than any wake up attack, when you can do a wake up attack and still send them into the bombs and wall after. And you get no bonus of doing it your way since the first attack is what gets increased damage waking them up, which in your case is the clutch claw which loses tons of damage.

    • @drakejohnson5386
      @drakejohnson5386 8 месяцев назад

      @@garrettwiebeck a mid fight sleep from a palico means the monster is enraged and there isn't enough time to both do a wake up and flinch shot. If you find them sleeping naturally in their nest, if you could do both then that would be better. But if you reach a certain amount of damage output that can enrage the monster, preventing you from flinch shooting them. It isn't the flinch shot damage that is so powerful it is the opening to do your best combos that is better than any wakeup

  • @azkaghafara5712
    @azkaghafara5712 8 месяцев назад +1

    i dont think armor talon and charm is worth the item slot, sure you want best stat possible but 30 flat armor is just not worth especially on late game, attack talon and in the other hand will scale with the weapon's base raw and equal to 3 and 2 point of attack boost to a total of 5 point (+15 stat wise)
    this also applies to the other defense and attack buff, its more worth to just bring attack buff than defense buff especially late game, because on late you have 800-1100 defense anyway, and if you use ranged the defense is penalized by 30% so its even more not worth the hassle to bring defense buff
    and on early game you wont be able to craft both attack and defense buff, so its better to just invest on full damage while training to be gitgud at dodging, and yes, i know you will get hit anyway, but if the monster flinch often because of the damage you wont be damaged as much
    and maybe you ask "what should i bring with the extra slot then?" you can bring food(ration and steaks), antidote/herbal medicine (to cure poison) , both traps and their craft ingredients, barel bombs, dung bombs(to make large monster go away, didnt work on elder), and other usefull stuff, and you ALWAYS leave at least 3 slot empty, especially on siege mission, "why?" you ask, to be able to take the item from THE BLUE CHEST of course, you can get 4 extra free potion(first aid med on LR/HR and first aid med+ on MR) and 2 free cool/hotdrink if you on volcanic/hoarfrost region, you also given a free EZ shock trap and 4 EZ tranq bomb/ammo on capture mission, and siege mission will give also give EZ max potion and EZ Life Powder

    Ok, I'm gonna stop you there and tell you immediately that you seriously don't need that many health items. At the start of the game, when you're short on items, just bring 10 potions, 10 mega potions and honey, then when you're starting to fight bigger monsters and you upgraded your botanic station, bring Max Potions, 5 Mega Nutrients and 5 Mandragora (Ancient Potions are handy for Stamina recovery but you only need one health recovery potion) so you have in total 7 health potions that recover the ENTIRE health bar in 1 sec instead of 20 that just recovers 75 hp in 4 secs

      it increases your raw damage, which then gets multiplied by your weapon type in the status display. That's actually all the multiplier does is change the number in status since Raw Damage is what's used in all the damage calculations.

      @SirenXD. 8 месяцев назад +1

      Nope, no reason to when you have a lot of items already. His loadout in this video is super over-kill. Once you get a little comfy, most hunts will use a couple mega potions, the drugs once, and maybe a trap or some niche healing item (nullberry, antidote, w/e). The botany tree is OP and covers 99% of all of the gathering you will need to do. End-game botany tree can pump out 32 honey per hunt. If you use 32 mega potions in a single hunt, that is a *massive* skill issue, especially if you're doing so consistently. Most hunts have a very low resource cost :)
