One minor question and possible tip for others (if i can somehow find it). I play with Mouse and keyboard, Changing the radial menu (which requires quite some buttons) to a more mouse and keyboard friendly option is ingame, However everything i can find online points to an option that is rather absent on my game. It should be between "customize radial menu" and "equipment info" when you press escape.
Two more tips; 1. In Game settings > Page 2 > Camera & Scoutfly Settings > Do Not Track. This makes the snapback of scoutflies disable so the camera doesn't suddenly snap to the direction they are going. 2. in Camera settings > Page 3 > Dynamic Camera Setting > Off/Disable. This disables the dumb zoom function on the camera when-ever a new monster joins the same area and other dynamic moments the camera might do for "immersion" but it takes control away from the player.
Holy shit thanks for the tip on the scoutflies, I've been playing since day one and still get whiplash from the camera twisting around to track the scoutflies
One of my biggest gripes is if your mantle is completely used and a monster runs off the game auto removes the mantle for you. Many times I was unable to flash the monster because the game decided it was more important to take my mantle off
One tip i learned from watching a fatalis video: apparently you can shoot the slinger while knocked down, for instance when fatalis does his clutch claw punish where he slams down onto the ground, you can shoot dragon pods at him while knocked down to stagger him until you get back up. I have 1600 hours and i was mind blown that it took me this long to learn that
I'm happy to know that. Coming from Rise, I was worried that there was nothing you could actually do when you get knocked down. Now, I just need to actually learn how to use a slinger 😅
Okay the directional movement setting is going to be huge for me. The amount of times when i try to SAED thinking i got enough time but to see monster jumping past me, my instinct is to cancel SAED into AED to save phials so i hold back and continue to track monster only to realize i fked up by looking back while holding back... it doesnt become AED, it becomes wiff of the year
For those who don't know, AED stands for Amped Elemental Discharge. While SAED stands for Super Amped Elemental Discharge. These are the terms for phial damage movesets for charge blade hunters.
@@DR1BLESS Acute Erectile Disfunction, that is not so Severe as Severe Acute Erectile Disfuntion. Hihihi Ok just a joke. Charge Blades have two modes to attack using the "Charge" they gather hitting monsters. One is normal and the other is Super, so there is AED and SAED.
While not a setting, I think its worth mentioning Power talon and Armor talon. Theyre items that gives you a PERMANENT buff just for keeping them in your inventory, and it took me way too long to even find out that they exist. Its also worth noting that they stack with Powercharm and Armorcharm, a weaker version of the same item thats used to craft them.
So I wasn't the only weirdo who doesn't lock on monsters. I played all FromSoftware games, but in Monster Hunter I think is better without using it. It's easier for me just follow the monster with the right joystick, It helps me a lot when I want to reposition and attack. I think the difference is, in Dark Souls and similar, you want to focus on the boss, but in Monster Hunter, you want to focus on the weak spot (head or tail) and the surroundings of the monster.
i mean, the original monster hunter games doesnt have lock on anyway. i mean i know they introduced that even before mh world but even still, i never used the lock on cause thats literally what im used to.
One thing about camera distance - how big a difference it makes, is highly dependent on which area you're in. You're in a transitional area in most of that clip there, and so it makes a difference of only a couple of steps - but when you're in a big area fighting, it scales a lot farther.
I got 1 thing to add for the target cam. Naturally tapping L1 centers the camera behind you, but when you target a monster you can no longer center on yourself. Change target cam settings to type 2 and you tap L1 once to center behind your and DOUBLE tap L1 to center on monster.
Great video. I’m two days in, and just by basic instinct I’ve adjusted about two-thirds of your suggested settings before even viewing this video. Which I thought was awesome, the biggest for me is that directional camera setting, I’ve instantly started landing more hits with that change, and the radial setting was everything. I should have took more time initially going through the settings but glad I decided to be lazy and stumble on this video.
I use a bow on PC and the button to track a monster is the same as the button to use my slinger. Sometimes when I'm being a bit clumsy instead of using my slinger I'll track a monster instead whirling my camera around, insanely distracting. I had no idea I could turn it off! First tip and already a huge help! Big thanks. :)
I've probably got less hours in World than Tri overall, but i still really enjoyed the game, the main problem i had was iceborne turning my laptop into a space heater, before eventually bricking my laptop, and i haven't been able to play since. I'm glad they optimised the game for steam deck, but i wish they did some optimisations sooner, as the base game ran fine before the expansion, now it's basically impossible to play on my old laptop which is a shame.
The thing that makes locked camera garbage compared to fromsoft or darksoul's camera lock isn't actually the camera itself. Its the player's orientation relative to the target, see in dark souls when you lock-on to a boss, your character is also locked on meaning you will always see your character's back (you can still turn around if you sprint). but in MHW, only your camera is locked so when you move, your character will still face the direction of your movement and not on the target which means you still have to look at your character in order to check where he/she is facing making it harder to play.
The dynamic HUD is one of the things I hated so much in the beginning of playing this game because by default it is turned on, that I changed every single setting, which I wanted to change, while searching for it because I overlooked that one , also the reason why I knew everything lmao
One more setting I personally find annoying and that you should turn off is the slinger lock on. It's what automatically locks your slinger onto specific monster parts when you aim in their general direction. This sounds nice, but to me is super annoying because it can mess you up when trying to shoot stuff above the monster, like the many environmental traps the game has. It also sometimes makes you aim at a spot you don't want when shooting a monster, which is especially annoying with the clutch claw. In my experience, turning off slinger lock on is just much better. The game feels like it actively tries to mess up your aim sometimes with the setting on.
@darkhero2 I play on controller too, and personally it used to be the bane of my existence lol. But maybe I'm misremebering how bad it was since I haven't played with the setting on ever since I discovered it could be turned off. My two biggest annoyances with it (from what I remember) are hitting overhead environmental traps when the target just wants to tether to the monster wing, and hitting moving targets, since the auto-target only cares about where the target is, and not where it's going to be. So locking on to a part is really annoying then, when you want to shoot slightly ahead of something. Ultimately, I just find the increased freedom of aiming to be way more comfortable, and it helps to reduce a lot of mistakes that the auto-aim would otherwise cause. But maybe it's just a preference thing.
This isn't related to options or anything, but I like to organize my radial menu depending on what the items in question are. The top group I have as healing items, stuff like potions and status healing items. The right I have as buffs and multiplayer support (so Dust of Life, Armorskin, Demon powder, Dash juice). The bottom I have tools and traps, so stuff like Raider Ride, mantles, traps, and tranqs. And the left is just misc stuff that doesn't really fit in other categories (or there just wasn't enough room), like flash bombs and rations. Though I'm mostly a melee weapon user, and when I'm a gunner I use bow which doesn't have very many coatings so I don't really need to make any changes to the radial menu for it. But someone with a bowgun might want to have a section partially or completely devoted to ammo types. I'd also really recommend making item sets. It might take a while to do both of these things, but the time saved in the long run cannot be overstated. I dunno this might seem obvious to a veteran player, but it might be helpful for beginners. It wasn't very long ago that I was a complete beginner myself. Monster Hunter is kinda complicated at first blush, but it's so rewarding to get into, even if you have to consciously practice at it.
or when creating the session, set it to something else instead of the "public" one, such as the friends one or the other one needing the session id i think. that way it doesnt matter what player count you set, if they're not in the session to begin with they cant join the mission. at least that's how i understand it, correct me if im wrong tho
Type 2 is great but you can also do the entire radial explorations thing with type 1 since it uses item on release not on press, still having it be an actual press to consume an item is much nicer if you don’t know your radial by heart
Here I was thinking I was the only one that used Directional Control Type 2. For people who have never used it before it can be extremely confusing and seemingly inconsistent but I don't know if I could play without it at this point as I have the lance super hop ingrained as Back+X in my muscle memory. A quick explanation for how it works if anyone's trying to get a grasp on it. Your hunter is essentially in one of two states: free movement and animation locks (names which I've made up just now). Free movement is when you aren't attacking or rolling or in other special animations, while animation lock is obviously when you are attacking, or more importantly in the recovery animation for an attack (or during a hop in the lance's case). With control type 2 it is easy to roll in the wrong direction after an attack unless you're consciously aware of the direction your hunter is facing and whether or not you're locked in place. With enough practice you can do it consistently without any thought, and using direction input specific attacks (like the SnS back hop you demonstrated, and the Charge Blade SAED cancel mentioned in another comment) won't be tied down to the direction your camera is facing anymore. It's pretty great.
That was a great explanation, however I'm DB main so this config seems that will mess up with my slinge dodge shots but I will try it let's see what happens.
@@1yu8omir Being able to set it individually by weapon would be neat but I don't expect that to happen. I don't play Insect Glaive so I can't personally vouch for whether control type 2 works well with it or not, but any time the camera is not behind your character is where you'll likely need to use a bit more brainpower to think of what direction you need to dodge, and if you're reactively dodging then the extra split second it takes to process what direction to hold the stick in could get you hit. I still use it anyways despite this, it's personal preference, and I guess I've gotten pretty used to it by now.
One More Tip for Controller players: Go to Settings, and under Controls, switch 'Item Control Settings' from Type 1 to Type 2 When utilizing the Radial Menu, by default Type 1 has you use the D-Pad to switch to different Shortcuts. Whereas Type 2 will switch it to your face buttons. This is extremely useful when your on the move, and now you no longer have to let go of the left stick in order to switch to a different Shortcut
@@Rudeuslul because it makes the most sense? you arent a weirdo, you're just doing something inefficient at best. you're reaching an unnecessary distance with your thumb while taking away your use of the camera and the attack/evade buttons, when you can instead simply just let go of your left stick temporarily, use your left index finger and quickly claw when need be, or change a setting.
@@mobilegamer7509 the face buttons would be like the ABXY buttons on an Xbox controller, for example. As well as their respective counterparts for a PS5 or Switch controllers
I honestly prefer on Type I radial menu as I don't have to pay attention to where the stick is going in the middle of a hunt. I trust myself not to make mistake. One thing that helped me is muscle memory, as I've been using the same radial menu since early game and don't change much the radial menu
And there is me who has never used radial menu in his life and has always disabled it since day one in all games xD I played all MH Games MHFU Included, I am just so used to switching through ^^
Oh my gosh! The auto sheath has gotten me into so much trouble. Im swapping from long sword to insect glaive, and to effectively use that weapon your reaction time needs to always be fast and your weapon always needs to ve ON GUARD. When my character sheaths my glaive after 2 steps I am blocked from essence harvesting with my kinsect OR vaulting up to start an attack. This saves *so much* pain and reclicking attack thank you so much.
Thank you for the radial wheel tip. I’m going to start using type 2 because for me it’s pretty janky to flick my controller a direction while also trying to keep eyes on a monster and sometimes it just doesn’t work properly.
Yes, it's a mod called Dropped items efx. There's plenty of great QOL mods to make the game even better, so I plan to make a video, probably next week, talking about the better ones
Thanks man, you save my day with this setting on ps buttons. The best! No one can’t explain this about this button how to change it. You are legend! Thanks very much dude
Bro! 400 hours in and these are tips I wanted! To be fair, I feel a lot of the default settings are great for a first-timer like me, but now that I'm seasoned I prefer to have more deliberate control. Thank you!
I wish you could change directional control settings per weapon because I like having it based on the character for every weapon EXCEPT insect glaive. With glaive i like to move my camera around a lot when im flying through the air and its really difficult to think about what direction my character is facing in relevance to the camera when choosing which direction to air dodge so i prefer having it camera based.
Very good video. Some time ago I started playing MHWorld as a MH newbie, and even then I tweaked a lot of these settings immideatly figuring out that they are more helpful and conviniet at the start of the game. Most of what was shown in the video should be set by default.
Excellent tips, thank you. I'm a new player and I never lock on to monsters because it always snaps to some little creature in the background somewhere. Really, I don't understand why it doesn't just lock on to whichever monster you're looking at. I may be wrong, but I don't think the stamina bar is actually depleting if you aren't seeing it. Still, I will change the setting so it shows my health and stamina bars all the time. I'll be making use of some other tips as well. Thanks again.
Not just this game but mostly every games I've played so far. Before I even started the game, I always checked the "option menu" whether it's from the title page or in-game pause menu. Always keep in-check what offer the games have and adjusted to our preference.
Good tips. LOVE this game . I played for like 500 hundred hours when it came out . But still left a few end game things undone . Finally got back on a few days ago and am extremely happy to find its stil pretty active. Nice video bro, not man ppl doing this type of video for monster hunter. Maybe include camera speed for the next video. I know of the camera speed only after Alatreon
Some great tips, thanks! Pressing right stick to use an item of the radial menu is horrible though imo. Pressing usually shifts the stick to another item 😅

How do you change your dropped material icons? I’ve seen them as paw prints and other things. Is that a setting I can change or is that some type of in game purchase?
I have beaten Fatalis multiple times and NOW I find out about this stuff. I played the whole game without targeting, seeing my player through the monster and choosing the wrong option on the radial menu. Do you know how many times I use my radial menu and the stick accidentally bounces and makes me put on or take off a mantle when I didn't want to? Thank you for the tips my guy
Bow player here . Still in the early game . Bow takes a lot of time to unsheathe. That automatic unsheathe is very annoying . Monster is sleeping , I am trying to aline my dragon piercer perfectly only to have my weapon unsheathed . Very annoying . Thanks for that useful info broski
Would be great if you put in timestamps and what the 10 tips are in the description. I know you want people to watch the video for views, but if you make what you upload more useful then people are more likely to subscribe and stick around.
Loved the video! But also what is umm the setting that has the big flashy indicator of like drops and stuff?? I noticed it in the video but uncertain where to find that setting in game. I changed like 90% of my settings after this lol
I pretty quickly got used to lining up my GS attacks without the see-thru thing. I just hate effects like that in a lot of games - I understand why people would use them, but sometimes they just take a little more dedication haha.
About the button guide and all other button pictures. While you can connect a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to the Steam/PC version, there are no buttons for that controller. This is due to base World coming out before the Switch. Steam automatically gave me Xbox controls. Through me remapping buttons, for a long time I played Monster Hunter with the face buttons reversed (look at Switch PC versus an Xbox controller). I know mods are a touchy subject, but there is a mod that replaces all button prompts with a Switch Pro Controller in mind. Really hoping that if I decide to play World more that I don’t get banned or something for that mod. The mod helps me out!
There’s one setting I absolutely stuck with when I discovered it is the one that enables you to scroll through items in the item bar just by pressing left and right on the D-pad which eliminated the use of holding L1 before being able to scroll
I still need to know how you’re able to display an icon on what items are on the floor and how to display an icon on what monsters are weak to before starting a quest 😭

It doesn't works well with insect glaive, found it messing up my air vault directions
One More Tip for Controller players:
Go to Settings, and under Controls, switch 'Item Control Settings' from Type 1 to Type 2
When utilizing the Radial Menu, by default Type 1 has you use the D-Pad to switch to different Shortcuts.
Whereas Type 2 will switch it to your face buttons. This is extremely useful when your on the move, and now you no longer have to let go of the left stick in order to switch to a different Shortcut
Why would you let go of the left stick to use the d-pad? Am I a weirdo for using my right thumb to use the d-pad?
@@Rudeuslul because it makes the most sense? you arent a weirdo, you're just doing something inefficient at best. you're reaching an unnecessary distance with your thumb while taking away your use of the camera and the attack/evade buttons, when you can instead simply just let go of your left stick temporarily, use your left index finger and quickly claw when need be, or change a setting.
Dumb question: What are “face buttons”?
@@mobilegamer7509 the face buttons would be like the ABXY buttons on an Xbox controller, for example. As well as their respective counterparts for a PS5 or Switch controllers

Perfect timing of this video since I'm starting to get back to MHW after not playing for years
Love that your still making mhw videos, I remember watching you back in the day when the game came out. Much love man
I honestly prefer on Type I radial menu as I don't have to pay attention to where the stick is going in the middle of a hunt. I trust myself not to make mistake. One thing that helped me is muscle memory, as I've been using the same radial menu since early game and don't change much the radial menu
That's understandable. I remember not liking it cause I accidentally would press whetstone when going for max potiojs and cart 💀
Over-Trusting yourself tends to be a big mistake in videogames
And there is me who has never used radial menu in his life and has always disabled it since day one in all games xD
I played all MH Games MHFU Included, I am just so used to switching through ^^
Bruh, i never messed with these settings till i came across your vid, hunting experience is now feeling immensely better, thank you ❤
I brand new and just started MH a few days ago. This helps so much. Thanks!
Really good video, I changed the first 7 or so myself and forgot about ‘em. But they are very important
I'm happy I knew every single one of these, but I'm also glad that this exists for newer players!
Glad I was able to help
0:11 or for those who have been playing the game on PSP for a long time 😅 and wanted to remember their childhood by hunting for monsters with a cat☺️)
Thank you for the radial wheel tip. I’m going to start using type 2 because for me it’s pretty janky to flick my controller a direction while also trying to keep eyes on a monster and sometimes it just doesn’t work properly.
just got into the game a few weeks ago, thanks so much for this.
1:32 camera setting
3:56 shilouette
7:55 directional control type
10:40 “lets say I wanna attack this small innocent creature”
**ATTACKS A DEVILJHO**
Thanks man almost all tips are so useful didn't even do anything bout the settings yet and im now into iceborne 🤣 this is gonna help alot ❤💯
Music at the 6 min mark sent me back nearly 20 years.
The good nostalgia
Great video! how do you make the drops appear clearer? i seen it on your previous video but didn't know how, is it a mod?
Yes, it's a mod called Dropped items efx. There's plenty of great QOL mods to make the game even better, so I plan to make a video, probably next week, talking about the better ones
Great video! how do u make the drops more noticeable? is it a mod?
yes that is a mod, there are a few different ones on nexus
Thanks man, you save my day with this setting on ps buttons. The best! No one can’t explain this about this button how to change it. You are legend! Thanks very much dude
Love SnS in every game but world. Tried your settings. First statement has changed. Thank you.
Omg ty for the controller display setting thingy!
Love the digimon world music in the background ❤
Very good video. Some time ago I started playing MHWorld as a MH newbie, and even then I tweaked a lot of these settings immideatly figuring out that they are more helpful and conviniet at the start of the game. Most of what was shown in the video should be set by default.
"As you can see.."
Thanks for the help, always welcome! Waiting your tutorials when the new game arrives.
Thanks I'm glad you like them 😁
Just got back into MHW/iceborne and it’s so clutch to know about those first 3 tips cuz I really like the old feel of the controls
I had a lot of this already implemented but the PS setting instead of xbox was one I certtainly missed. Thank you for sharing!!!
Not just this game but mostly every games I've played so far. Before I even started the game, I always checked the "option menu" whether it's from the title page or in-game pause menu.
Always keep in-check what offer the games have and adjusted to our preference.
Huge tips! Thank you
Good tips. LOVE this game . I played for like 500 hundred hours when it came out . But still left a few end game things undone . Finally got back on a few days ago and am extremely happy to find its stil pretty active. Not just with players responding to SOS but also peopep making videos 😂 seriosuly one of the best games ever made . Can’t wait for the new game tho.
Thank you for this so so much! It was much needed 👏🏼
Glad I was able to help
Very, very helpful. Thanks a lot.
Nice choice of Digimon World BGM
Having a great time the second time around.
Thank you! Imma try the Type 2 directional control type 2 after 700 hrs of playtime, also I wouldn't turn off the Vibration if you're a Hunting Horn User as it vibrates to indicate your song has activated
Nice video bro, not man ppl doing this type of video for monster hunter. Maybe include camera speed for the next video. I know of the camera speed only after Alatreon
i love the music you used there 09:16. Digimon World 1 for PSX
Dude, that Digmon world music through me off so bad lol. Awesome guid, will be adjusting settings after this.
Some great tips, thanks! Pressing right stick to use an item of the radial menu is horrible though imo. Pressing usually shifts the stick to another item 😅
Changing the camera to far is very helpful because the camera zooms out in battle also so the difference is way more noticable.
Dude thanks. These were some great tips. Gonna use almost all of them
Good video, useful info, thanks man =)
Very good info!
Good advices. Only the first 2 already made this video worth, the others are good also.
Thanks for the tips

How do you change your dropped material icons? I’ve seen them as paw prints and other things. Is that a setting I can change or is that some type of in game purchase?
Omg thanks it's so useful I didnt know most of these👍👍👍
800 hours in the game, returning player, and I only knew about one of these.... recently. lol. Nice work!
2:27 i felt that, like i never felt something before
That's a really cool and, at the same time, cute outfit, bro. It made me laugh and be happy, lol.
Lovely video!
Last tip is what I need the most, thanks man
Glad to see new hunters joining the community even to this very day welcome from a first gen vet happy hunting
Amazingly usefull video, commented just because of Digimon World PS1 music. Good job bro!
Thank you, I'm glad it was of use!
Useful. Thanks
loving the digimon world 1 background music xD
Your first tip alone is worth a sub
hey I appreciate it, ty!
very helpful thanks
Great vid.
Thank you!
10:40 quite a "small innocent creature" there xD
Would be great if you put in timestamps and what the 10 tips are in the description.
I know you want people to watch the video for views, but if you make what you upload more useful then people are more likely to subscribe and stick around.
Loved the video! But also what is umm the setting that has the big flashy indicator of like drops and stuff?? I noticed it in the video but uncertain where to find that setting in game. I changed like 90% of my settings after this lol
It's "Dropped Items efx" mod
2100 hrs in! Im excited to watch this video
These were really quality tips, thanks so much!
that camera trick is really helpful
how do you get those big clear icon markers for when there's a material to pick up?
There’s one setting I absolutely stuck with when I discovered it is the one that enables you to scroll through items in the item bar just by pressing left and right on the D-pad which eliminated the use of holding L1 before being able to scroll
The reason a lot of people don't use that is because you have to take your thumb off the movement analog stick
Found the heavy bowgun user
2:27 "don't mess this great sword users. We'll wiff." 😂
I still need to know how you’re able to display an icon on what items are on the floor and how to display an icon on what monsters are weak to before starting a quest 😭
