Karl, you could use some gain on your audio. If you can take your video file into a video editor program (or run your audio track thru SoundForge) and normalize your audio track, it works like a charm. Just a suggestion. Other than that, Your tutorials seem easy to follow. Thanks for doing this. 73 Wayne
Hi Karl, I just watched this again after not using 4Nec2 for a year or so - great video just like I remembered it ! - but I had a problem again that I had the first time around I wanted to share. When I download 4Nec2 and use it for the first time as I did both times watching this (new computer...), it comes up with different default units than you use in this video. I enter the values shown in the video and run and get a pile of errors. After a bit of head scratching I realized you have "inches" set at the bottom of the "Symbols" tab (which you don't talk about yet in this video) and at least "Feet" set in Settings > Length unit and I think "inches" in Settings > Radius unit. When I fix inches on the "Symbols" tab, the values in the spreadsheet are updated to the gibberish they actually were during the calculation that caused the errors. I fix them and everything works exactly as you show. SO ... for those watching this for the first time, make sure to check those settings BEFORE you enter the data in Karl's spreadsheet.
Nice catch. Life has been busy, and I haven't made a video in a while. I just happened to be here working on a new antenna, when your comment came in. Funny how rusty you get when you don't use something for a while. It took me about an hour to get back up to speed. LOL My brain has been wrapped around a new autocad type program for work, over the last several months. Hopefully I'll get some me time soon, and add some videos. Thanks, KE0JWK
@@karlke0jwk368 Happy to share; pretty minor easy thing to overlook. You've probably had the program set up that way for so long you didn't even think of what those default values used to be. I'm sure I wouldn't have. Yes, I carefully went through all these videos a while back and while it doesn't take much to start bringing it back, it's definitely requiring a refresh. I'm also remembering how glad I am you did these and how much time they're saving me so again, thanks ! Hope you're having fun with the autocad'ish software. My son-in-law and dear friend just made professor in ME at Tuft's (RIGHT OUT OF SCHOOL !! VERY smart kid ...) and he's a big SolidWorks guy though he uses several of them. Anyway, some more videos would be great when you get time ! You and your family stay safe and healthy !
Matt, 4nec2 doesn't come as a demo, it is the fully functional complete program. It is free. You can download what I believe is the latest version, from 2016 here; www.qsl.net/4nec2/
Thanks for doing these tutorials. I've used 4NEC2 a long time ago but just briefly, these videos are helpful for getting back into it.
I'm glad you find them useful. I've been delayed a bit on the upcoming ones, but they will be up soon.
Subscribe, so that you don't miss them when they get posted.
In addition to being a great tutorial video, the reading suggestion is excellent - thanks Karl!
Thank you.

Looking forward to more...
Thanks, Let me know if I need to go into more detail on anything. Karl

Can we design a micro strip patch antenna using 4Nec2?
Karl, Where is best place to download the 4NEC2 demo version....
