- Lloyd In Space, from the creators of Recess, took us from the playground to the stars with relatable stories told in an unfamiliar environment. With Disney pumping out more well known alien related properties around the same time and afterwards, it's understandable if you, much like myself, had barely remembered Lloyd In Space. So let's take a look at the show and see what became of Lloyd In Space.
Check out Jayniac Jr's video here: • Jaynalysis: Disney's F... .
Thanks so much for watching! Do you remember Lloyd In Space? Let me know some of your most memorable moments with the show if you do!
I remember an episode where they are trapped on a bus (I think?) and someone eats a cool girl alien’s lipgloss.
Yes! This show lives rent free in my mind & I was hurt when I saw it wasn’t coming to Disney+
I honestly remember the garbage/janitor/maintenance alien! I believe he had a surfer dude accent? Lol
Stoner Alien Janitor
God the second i saw the thumbnail i got slapped with vauge memories of this show. All i can remember is the interglatic food fight
Please do a “Fillmore” episode. I feel like people barely remember it, but it was it’s own unique kids show unlike anything made before it or after
The chicken was dry... real dry
Fillmore was the shit, I loved that show
I loved Fillmore
So much came flooding back when I read this post. Remember the gone in 60 seconds parody they did
Awesome show, please talk about it. It’s criminally underrated.
Oh fuck, you just brought back a memory I forgot I had. It's weird how you can not remember something, but once you see it, you remember EVERYTHING about it. I can hear Lloyd's voice in my head right now, yet I didn't even remember he existed for like 20 years until this very moment again.
Same. Just seeing the thumbnail brought a flood of memories back and I knew I had to watch this.
Same brother!
I completely forgot about this cartoon as soon as I saw the thumbnail everything came flooding back, memory is crazy..
Yeah the brain is weird. Fast too. It finds the memories in milliseconds
Right?!
I don't think I'll ever forget the "Lloooooyd!" As he breaks a window and casually murders a whole bunch of people getting sucked out a broken window.
‘Oops’
Hahahahaha
Up until this point today, I thought this show was just a fever dream I had
😂 I use to watch it when nothing else good was on
I always had a very clear memory of the episode where Lloyd befriends a new kid, who turns out to be an insectoid with a really short life cycle (so he's only in school for a few days) and when Lloyd finally goes to see him to apologise for falling out, he's already an adult. It's got the perfect balance of humour and emotion.
That theme song was kickass to me as a kid
Lloyd in Space was Recess’s underappreciated and often overlooked sister show. I miss it and I hope it comes to Disney+ someday.
Loved the theme! This was one of the first shows I noticed that Disney+ didn’t have. I am glad that there are others out there that remember this show.
same
@@MikeSparksMusic yeah i use to always hum the theme song
Omg! Same! I still remember that robotic voice always saying "Lloyd In Space" at the end of the themesong to this day.
Why doesn’t Disney+ have most of its 90s era cartoons?
I still live by a lesson i learned from Lloyd. More specifically the human police officer when he was teaching Lloyd how to drive. "Act like you're in control and you'll be in control". That little nugget really helped in a lot of situations where everyone around me was panicking but i could take control because i could at least feign confidence
GOD you just unlocked a memory I long forgot about. Filmore next maybe?
That show was good.
I loved this show. Hope it comes to Disney+
I remember this show being solid. It did always have a recess vibe to me, so seeing that it was made by the same people makes sense. The Halloween episode was awesome.
I just turned 30 and I think about this series more than I should. Honestly it was so slept on and deserves a revival
Another great video! I never noticed the recurring theme of single parent homes in Disney's TV shows! It's also amazing how you pointed out the uniqueness of Lloyd being a Space slice of life series and how it played with themes that couldn't have been done else where.
If you want to mess with a Lloyd in Space fan, ask them what Eddie's ethnicity lol it's incredibly ambiguous on purpose.
Keep up the great work dude! And thanks for the shout out!!!
lmao thanks so much man! Thank you for the shout out as well! lmao I'll leave that question for the super fans for sure haha Thanks for watching my friend!
What's his ethnicity?
We never had toon Disney/Disney channel till we were ten so the only thing I remember about Lloyd in Space was watching it on Diggit/Diggin'it; a Saturday morning program block which showed a lot of Disney and Nickelodeon including Lloyd in Space
STOP! I was just asking my fiancé the other day if she ever caught this show. We both agreed it was fun, but just got shafted on time slots. Wasn’t this one that came on at 3:30 in the morning next recess, The little mermaid, and Winnie the Pooh.
My (6) yrs old self just screamed, "OMG, I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!". Thank you for the nostalgia shock 🥰👏🏾👽🚀🛸
It’s still so weird to think how something like this isn’t on Disney+ yet at all. Similar to buzz lightyear of Star command. But pepper Ann did eventually make its way to the platform so anything is possible. Do you remember the weekenders at all Jordan? That’s another great Disney animated show not on their streaming service yet.
I’m waiting for Dave the Barbarian to show up on Disney+!!!
I will always remember this show due to getting into (old) Futurama at that preteen age. I used to have such a childlike crush on Lloyd himself way back when I was younger at the time for his shy adorkableness......man I really feel so dorky xD
Looking back, bevertheless the show, while had its flaws , still remains one of my fave early 2000s Disney shows. (Though going on a rewatch spree, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command beats it nowadays in terms of characters (I still think the Lloyd in Space characters are pretty cool though, but who can beat the cool alien races and members in Star Command), world building and writing for Disney lighthearted sci fi toon. Also: Mira Nova beats Brittany Boviac for awesome blue Disney alien girl, personality and writing wise).
Oh damn, I remember this from way back when I was a little kid. It kind of lingered in the back of my mind, but when I saw the thumbnail it hit me like a ton of bricks.
I’ve always remembered this show because it was my favorite and Recess was my absolute favorite show growing up! Glad to see it being mentioned again 😊
I remember watching this on Saturday mornings and on Toon Disney with the Weekenders!
You’ve done it again, Mr. Fringe! I totally forgot about this show, but I was an avid watcher growing up.
Thanks for putting this together, I'm definitely one of those people who LOVED Lloyd in Space! This means the world to me mate!
I loved Lloyd in Space, and my main memory I have from it is this episode where the boys and the girls are desperately trying to figure out if this androgynous alien is a boy or a girl, and they look at the stickers on their binder but they’ve got “boy stuff” and “girl stuff” and then they try to see which bathroom they’ll use and it eventually comes out that their species chooses their gender around puberty or something like that. They kinda realise they were being pushy and apologise and ask about their choice and they respond with “you’ll just have to wait and find out when I get a crush on someone” which I just thought was hilarious
Yeah that was the first thing I remember from this show
Does anyone remember the episode where their computer (basically that head with a tail that followed the Nebulon’s around) got put into a body so he could go a date with his internet girlfriend and then Lou 2000 had to take over for Station as Lou was very lazy?
I remembered this show so often at random times just because of Lloyd's character design, and nothing else. No one else around me ever did though, so I had given up and told myself it was just some show I dreamed up one day. This video makes me feel SOOOOO validated. IT WAS REAL!
Loved this show! As soon as I saw the title I clicked! Really hoping they bring this to Disney +
Oh I remember Lloyd in space but not too many people cover it. Late 90s and early 2000s animated kids and adult shows were ahead of their time with the lessons they taught.
Your are right as usual, I barely remember this show existed. Another great video thanks!
Omg I loved this show! Mom would pick me up from school and stop by a small cafe to get cinnamon rolls and coffee/hot chocolate and this show would be on when we got home. I really missed this thanks for bringing back these memories
I loved this show but never would have remembered it without this video
This was one of my favorites in elementary school. My mom and I still quote it today.
Not y’all bullying Jordan into going back to the old cartoon head i was actually growing towards the new one he was using 😭🤣
So good to see Lloyd In Space getting some much deserved recognition! It's a total underrated gem, along with Legend Of The Dragon.
Loved this show! Barely remember it but I remember wanting more merchandise and notoriety for it! Feels like I never liked what was popular amongst my peers and could never make friends using similar interests as a base for that friendship.
I’ve been in the cut wondering when you’d do this one lol thank you 🙏🏾
Your videos lately are bringing back memories I keep forgetting I had.
Lloyd in space: when Gus was an alien, his mom was peg from GoofTroop and his best friend was Patrick Star! Fun little series I've watched after House of Mouse!
His other 2 friends were Harold Berman and Milhouse van Houten!
@@mitchfletcher2386 too AWESOME
Lol
One of my if not my, favorite shows back in the day. The one episode I vividly remember is the one where a new student arrives at school, a purple one. The whole gang try to figure out what gender they were and find out they're neither. They get to choose when they get older, I guess we'd call it a sorta gender-fluid. Definitely a show ahead of it's time.
Every time I tried to make a point I just ended up agreeing with what you were saying. Input is spot on!!! 👍👑
Wow I remember this show and I have never thought of it until this video that’s crazy
i remember this!
on a local tv channel where i live, they used to air something called Disney Fun (Disney Sjov) every Friday night when i was a kid. it was 30 minutes of a mix between new and older Disney cartoons, and this would be on there frequently!
house of mouse was also on there a lot, but i dun see anyone talking about that show anymore
Wow I really didn't remember this show until I saw the thumbnail, then seeing all the designs throughout the video it really did have a distinct look. I don't remember it being all that engaging but it was very visually appealing!
I See You Brought Back the Old Icon I Preferred the New One But It Did Win The Poll So Whatever.
Oh my word… YOU UNLOCKED THIS MEMORY FOR ME
I don't know what's weirder.
The fact that I remember watching this as a kid... or that that synopsis for the "lost episode" rang a bell in my mind. Like, as if I remember seeing it. @_@
Also on the "Disney characters mostly having one parent thing". I only knew one kids whose parents were divorced. Heck most people I've met in real life doesn't have divorced parents. So i always thought it was weird how many disney characters or characters in general had only one parent. When that was pretty rare for me to see irl
Great video Jordan. Keep up the great work. Love your videos. Hope you are feeling better and doing well.
Thank you so much! 😄
This show and the weekenders were my top shows after school
Yet another underrated Disney animated space show that has been tragically left off of Disney Plus.
I notice you went back to the old logo and even put it up for a vote but personally i dont think it really mattered tbh like changes do happen. I dont know it kinda felt like you were bullied back into the old logo after trying something new which wasnt popular but still cool.
Does Feel A Bit Like That.
This was one of the shows that forever stuck in my memory. I definitely remember it. Just a personal favorite, the kind of setting or world building and characters I would’ve just thought were SO COOL as a young kid. Pretty sure it was more personally appealing to me or I would have ranked my enjoyment of it above Dexter’s Lab, at least off the top of my head as a kid.
I remember previews of it. Mainly previews from the Disney VHS tapes. 😅😅😅
I remover watching Lloyd In Space awhile back next to Recess.
I LOVED this show when I was little. I remember it. 👽👽
I vividly remember this airing right before my bedtime so I really savored it lol
Sweet God. My sister and I used to watch this before school and I hadn't thought about it for like 20 years.
I remember this show I loved it. Was just as I was getting into middle school when it came out. Douglas was my favorite
I MISS THIS SHOW SO MUCH. I think about it every few weeks, at least.
No joke anytime I talked about this show, people thought I was making it up. Head is where the heart is, that's a line that stuck with me even till this day.
I remember very little about this show, but the halloween episode is ingrained in my mind. Each time an episode aired I would always look for the red text replacing the usual green, just to experience that trip one last time.
To this day the quote “let’s make him geography” -“that’s history Kurt” still randomly pops in my head at least once a week
Megavolt: You're Chemistry!...
Wait, no, you're math.. Uh, Phys Ed?... No, History, that's it!
I'm one year late to this video, but just as you said: I remember my ten year old me watching Lloyd In Space and really enjoying it, but I can't remember any storyline from a single episode. I remember the characters and some things but anything else.
Contrary to other series at the time wich I remember perfectly.
It's so strange how even if I remember next to nothing about one of these shows, I can practically hear every single voice perfectly .
FINALLY, I FOUND WHAT THIS WAS AGAIN! You have no clue how long I was trying to find out what this was called i remember watching this a long time ago and loved it but i could not figure out the name of this.
Thank you so much man
I loved this show when I was younger and surprisingly I still remember it fairly well today.
This show was so good. I was super disappointed when it wasn’t on Disney Plus
I used to watch this show ALL the time lol and the intro was a banger!
The things I remember most about this show was there was an episode focused on an alien that was obviously based on a house fly with a very short life span. The kid was only in school with Lloyde for one day and when they went over to his house to find out why he wasn't showing up to school anymore they found he was already an adult.
The other episode I remember is about an alien who for most of the episode has an unspecified gender, the design and voice are all pretty gender neutral because the whole episode is just them trying to figure out which pronouns to use to refer to this kid. The episode ends with them just asking and finding out that the species this kid belongs to is actually born genderless and get to choose what gender they want to be. We never do find out what gender this character chose to be as the character just says "You'll find out when I get my first crush on one of you." In a way this episode is kind of ahead of it's time as I think this was actually technically the first transgender character to officially appear in any media and it literally has a "don't just assume someone's gender" message before that was even really a common thing... however the ending line kind of simultaneously ignores that homosexuality is a thing as they leave you assuming that if the character gets a crush on girls that he must be a boy and if the character gets a crush on boys that she must be girl but actually because the alien could just as easily be gay, going by which gender this alien develops crushes on wouldn't tell you anything about what gender the character is... There's also the possibility of being bisexual in which case everyone would continue to be confused about what gender this character actually is. So they managed to be pro-trans and anti-gay/bi at the same time.
I don't even think the episode was intentionally meant to be pro-trans because the alien species is biologically capable of choosing their genders which people would view as different from an artificial sex change since for them, unlike humans, they're naturally capable of doing this.
Could also be that they were willing to change to whichever gender their crush was attracted to maybe
Definitely remember Lloyd in Space although in a bit of a weirder way. From what I remember, in the U.K. the show always seem to air much later at night, like around 10pm or later, so the deep in space atmosphere matched the nighttime sky and stars outside my window when I watched it. Bit of random thought but watching your video on Lloyd really sent me back to that nostalgia of watching cartoons late at night as a kid.
Anyways this is a fantastic video and a great analysis! Can’t wait for your next uploads 😊
You help me unlock a memory I never knew I had
I didn’t watch a lot of Disney cartoons. So I never sadly watched this. But I do know it existed. Briefly. Does look like a nice lighthearted show. We need more of those today.
My favorite episode is the episode the other guy made a video on - that was one of the best handling of gender issues I had seen as a kid.
man was a great show wanted to watch it for me it was the time slot alwasy caught the end or middle, and they would play two ep. back to back. good video man
I only vaguely remember this show as they had pretty much stopped airing it by the time my house got the Family Channel (basically the Disney channel for Atlantic Canada back in the early 2000s think it has a different name now though) but one scene that always stuck in my head that i have no context for involves one of the characters accidentally venting a bowling alley full of people out into space... i got a weird memory like that
I definitely remember this show! It was one of my favorites! I especially liked the episode about the love beam! Great video Jordan! I'm so glad you covered it! Here's hoping it comes to disney+ with the lost episode soon!
Thank you so much!
Forgot this show existed until I saw your video but I used to watch it all of the time, so weird how it all came flooding back. I used to hate Francene lol, mostly because she had psychic powers.
man, I really enjoyed this show as a kid! It didn't leave a too big lasting impact on me I think, but I found the setting and character designs appealing, and loved seeing the sci-fi twist on everyday experiences
The biggest thing I remember about this show is how this was always on in the middle of the night as the last few shows before it flipped to Playhouse Disney block
I remember Lloyd in space. But I only remember it coming on late at night, i liked the show and thought it deserved more attention
This review did this underrated gem justice! Catching it regularly during weekday afternoons 15 years ago, I've always found "Lloyd in Space" to be a more intriguing watch than "Recess", which was still a solid show in its own right. It was probably due to the writers' creative methods of translating early adolescent life into alien form, as well as all the diverse character designs presented. As described by co-creator Paul Germain, junior high life is basically "alienation", so what better way to represent that idea than with literal aliens?
It's really a shame that "Lloyd" is this obscure, even more so than "Teacher's Pet", which was at least a common Emmy winner with a movie attached to it. At best, people only remember "Lloyd" for the non-binary alien episode, which was no doubt the show's definitive "ahead of its time" moment looking back at it. I agree that it must be on Disney+ ASAP!
It's so strange how even if I remember next to nothing about one of these shows, I can practically hear every single voice *perfectly* .
For real, the Halloween episode where he’s trapped on the station alone for the rest of his life scarred me as a child…
I fondly remember this show, and even Dave The Barbarian.
I don't barely remember this one, it was amazing.
I remember this show for sure I definitely enjoyed it
Very happy I subscribed 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 this is my favorite channel
The one thing that's stuck with me from Lloyd in Space is calling oatmeal, "Floatmeal"
And I think it was on the Family channel in Canada. I find it so interesting to see the difference in Networks from such similar countries!
I never watched it because I hate the name Lloyd. Irrational? Maybe. But I deserve peace
In haven't even thought of this show in about 20 years. I feel like im supposed to boot up an N64 now
I was thinking about this show the other day, I miss all those Disneyxd shows, there's another one about 3 kid super heroes and 1 was a stuntman in an American suit
Totally forgot this show... Dang now I miss it lol
Lloyd in Space was fun. I kinda pushed it to the back of my brain when Dave the Barbarian came along.
I remember these shows fukin vividly my friend.
Haha I randomly watched the Larval episode a month ago and I swear it was the only episode I watched as a kid
DUDE!!!! I LOVED this show!! 🥰😍
Jordan: you barely remember this show
Me: I remember this fairly well actually
I know I never watched this show as a kid but for some reason there's something oddly familiar about Lloyd's face but I don't know what it is.
Maybe not his face but he does share his voice actor with Gus from Recess so that may be why he feels familiar to you.
@@theluigifan1 I think it's just Deja Vu as I said before I've never actually watched this before so I don't know how Lloyd sounds.
But I didn't know him and Gus from recess shared a voice actor so that's a cool fact.
Look up "Gumbi"
@@ssjsmith8879 You mean the green guy made of clay?
@@PeterGriffin11 Tell me he's not a cut and paste!
I remember this show, I liked calling him Le-lloyd because of the two L's
Loved this show. I vaguely remember Lloyd going on a date with the 2 headed alien girl being one of my favorite episodes.
