I am 73 years old, I went to the United States at the age of 13, I went to the Vietnam War, I was in the Air Born Brigade 173, of the 9th Tx Division, after a year of fighting and experiencing horrors and mistakes, I was prisoner of war for 3 and a half years, during that time as a prisoner I never saw sunlight, always in a tunnel, we were 9 prisoners, 3 Marines, 4 Rangers and 2 infantry, only 4 of us came out alive, we weighed around 45 kg, and our skin was bleeding from so much humidity, they rescued us at the end of the war, a UN mission, some nuns, they took care of us with so much love and care, it took us three years to recover, both in skin and in body I returned to my beloved Mexico and my state of Hidalgo, where I should never have left, and my ghosts, my fears have faded little by little, sometimes I feel hatred against the Army and sometimes I miss it, because they were my brothers, Thanks to music, I really enjoy my solitude, I never married or had children, my girlfriend that I had in my youth got married in the USA, because she knew that he was missing in battle, and they told him that perhaps he would never see me again, I almost don't like to sleep, I still have nightmares, thanks to music and singing I feel good. I went to a place far away from America to destroy their houses and a lot of damage, I am very sorry, it would never have happened. Greetings.

I was obsessed with this film in middle school after I did a history report on the 1970s and touched on the Linebacker operations over North Vietnam. My teacher recommended i watch Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket. Maybe three years later, I was at the 30th anniversary screening and talking with Martin Sheen, Albert Hall, Sam Bottoms and Frederic Forrest. Definitely a night to remember.

Platoon was the first, best film about Vietnam. I was a little kid in the 60s who watched the news and read the paper with my Dad every night. 12 yo in 1968. I remember. I cried all the way through Platoon.

ZSRR miał swój Wietnam w Afganistanie w latach 80, pozniej w Czeczenii w czasie I wojny czeczeńskiej. Teraz następca ZSRR czyli putinowska roSSja ma swoj Wietnam w Ukrainie. Kiedyś ktoś powiedział "na wojnie nie ma zwyciężców, na wojnie są tylko ofiary. (Obojętnie czy po jednej czy drugiej stronie)

Chesty Puller's son wrote a Pulitzer Prize winning autobiography called 'Fortunate Son' . He lost both legs in Vietnam, went to law school and was one of the ones to push for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. He killed himself before it was finished.

Had to join the Navy in 1968 to avoid being drafted by the Army. The recruiter "implied" that I could be a photographer as I requested.😂😁😆 Ended up a Corpsman (medic) with the Fleet Marine Force. A prime target for the NVA. Still bangin' it to the Stones in 2023, age 74.
I was 14 when my brother went to Vietnam. I worried about him constantly. I was affraid I'd see him on the news dead in a rice patty . But he came home,thank you Lord. Later he would tell me about the helicopters bringing them in country. I never looked at helicopters the same way after that. Those of you who really like this move should get a copy of Jerry Ziesmer's book "Ready when You Are, Mr. Coppola, Mr. Spielberg, Mr. Crowe". Jerry was first assistant director on Apocalypse Now and was there for the entire shoot. Lots of great details! For example: Near the end of filming in the Philippines, Martin Sheen threw a little party and Brando was one of the 9 guests. They were making spaghetti. At one point Sheen went into the kitchen to see if dinner was almost ready and Brando was just finishing off the last of the spaghetti for 9 people.
This song was released in November of 1969 and I was a Freshman in high school (born in 1954). One month later on December 1st, 1969, the Selective Service System conducted lotteries to call anyone born between 1944 to 1950 into military service for the Vietnam war. During the same timeframe, LBJ instituted a Selective Service Qualification test (called the Vietnam exam) where you needed a certain score to keep out of Vietnam. It came down to intellectual abilities where you needed to score at least 70 points to secure draft exemption, with actual college graduates needing a score of 80. If you were wealthy and could afford an education or knew someone who could pad your scores (like a college professor and/or others in influential positions), you were most likely deferred. If not, you went.

I signed in on a six months missile electronics course (nh54e) to "guaranteed" avoid the Nam. Upon graduation half of the class was sent to Nam. Bewildering part was, THEY were the married half. Every male was required to sign up for the Selective Service when they turned 18, so in 1972 I dutifully went down to the Post Office (yes, the Post Office) and filled out a short form and mailed it in. (No postage required, which was a nice benefit, don’t you think?) Nixon had promised to end the war, so that’s why he was most likely elected. The war started to wind down by then and the US was trying to get out. I remember at the time that I had absolutely no fear of being drafted, since the draft was over. But it was always in the back of my mind. The war officially ended in 1975 when the US pulled out and let the North Vietnamese take over South Vietnam. But believe me, I had no connections to save me if the war had dragged on. And thanks for asking.
Also born in 1954. After high school, I enlisted in the Army. 11B2P Airborne Infantry. Got out of basic and Jump School in 1973 then assigned to Fort Campbell 101st Airborne. I enlisted, so I knew I would probably be going to Viet Nam, but by 1973, the troops were coming home. Many of the guys in the unit (3/187th Rakkasans), especially the officers and senior NCO's had only just returned. After talking to those guys, I'm glad I didn't go. Huge respect for the guys that were there, and for the guys that didn't come back. Rest In Peace, Brothers.

Two Vietnam brothers. Marines. Radioman n ATRAC TEAM. Both returned n said WAR IS HELL n DON’T TRUST ANYONE. Told me of horrible times. Sad times. One had teammate going to join the enemy. Enemy shot him. They never knew why. In the mud in jungle with enemy around then. They won. My other brother said the scariest times was when the helicopter came for then. He said the pilots and guys on them were angels. My baby brother died a year ago. Heart n blood problems. My other brother has health problems but still with us. Called me a couple weeks back. Upset. Our last cousin died. He was the last one to go there n fight for our country and he died. Health n mental problems. Lots our family and friends served. Was was eventually called the American War. 40,934 killed in action and a total of 58,220 all together. Ask Safari for the terrible details for the others. Even ask yourself what 20 years there, was worth? Our boys booed and treated badly when they came home. They gave what they could and some gave all!! And what are we doing now? Oh, I’m 83 and was a teacher aide for 20 years. K-8 grades. One teacher did history. One day he said, if they ever drop a bomb on us, let it be here. I don’t want my family to suffer. I USED TO THINK HE WAS NUTS!! Today I’m not too sure. Blessings on us all!!

Oh man of little faith, in my years in my country there were 2 years of compulsory service and for evading duty they brought you by force, sometimes in blood... and we tamed such barking dogs after two days.
I lost a good friend with the 7/17 Air Cav in 1970, OH6 Scout. Great piece, Fogarty, but it brings back the pain to the surface and the futility of Viet Nam. Rest in peace Sock. You will be with us until we meet again.
One of my shipmates on the USS John Marshall [ssbn 611] was a dress extra in the massive helicopter assault scene, the youngest looking guy dressed in a flight suit & helmet with a mustache who is shown twice. He got this temporary job because he was an army brat attending DOD high school in the Phillipines where his dad was a colonel. He was a Radioman 3rd class on the blue crew of the John Marshall in 1979 when I knew him so he had just done this prior to enlisting in the navy. I can’t remember his name as I was on the gold crew and only hung out with him briefly at the submarine barracks on Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, while he was detached on shore duty to take some sort of a crypto-communications class.
As the father of a current USMC UH-1Y Huey pilot and a son in law of a 2-tour Viet Nam combined action force Marine, two thoughts come to mind. Never underestimate the ability of our politicians to lose a conflict (McNamara and LBJ) and the quality of these young men and women deserve better leaders. My Marine is in SE Asia now within minutes of the foe if things go live.
The traitor Cronkite, and politicians lost that war. Our men fought valiantly for their country. Just like the Afghan war wherein I served. All that blood and treasure, for what? It really is depressing.

I adore this song as CCR is my all time favorite band. I don’t love the video being shown as it depicts USA as bad guys, but please note they were all following orders to fight communism. My dad went in 1966 to set up medical units and was forward command taking over from French. He was an USA Army Civil Service employee. Every French soldier told him to get the hell out of this country because NOTHING WAS AS IT SEEMED. My dad was a WW2 and Korean Vet. Totally patriotic, totally US Army. He made a 40.00 dollar long distanced phone call to my brother in the Air Force in Maine and told him to leave the military ASAP, as my brother wAnted to reup for Officer school. My dad told him him you won’t get Officer school and Vietnam was a total SNAFU, CLUSTER F. 40.00 dollars was 2/3 of his paycheck as Army retired. Years later, my older brother told me that dad saved his life. All his fellow Airman, did not go to officer training and two died in Vietnam out of the four (including himself) that were promised this schooling if they re-enlisted. I have never trusted any politician or political party after being raised around military. I am so tired now of people being sheep and youth following every word they say.
I have every cd and download from this band. Love it, but could never figure out if they were this big protest band, than why no songs about the plight of these soldiers who were FORCED INTO WAR, and how they did their duty, honorably, and how they were treated when they got home. FOR THOSE THAT DID MAKE IT HOME. My own family member spent years fighting an anomaly bladder cancer that is now known to be caused from agent orange. VA denied him until he was almost dead from it. One benefit troops had was a food commissary with groceries at a discount. OBAMA TOOK THAT AWAY. Many commissary’s have closed and few offer any discount therefore he put more military on food stamps. WHY? Military pay is not high, politicians cannot keep cutting their benefits. I can’t even see this youth showing up to a draft. They would too busy discussing their rights to use a freaking litter box as a bathroom or some sort of other stupidity.

I watched this when it came out with 2 vets. 1 did 1 term the other 2. They both said the movie wasn't even close to the real thing but it's the closet to it they have seen up to that day.

Lucky enough not allowed to even fly OVER the enemy, wherever they were. But as an USAF sergeant at Tan Son Nhut Air Base (MAC HQ), where I was stationed in Saigon, I heard and saw choppers land and take off daily, at all hours near my barracks and recon intelligence squadron (11pm-7am). I will never forget the sound of those choppers. Even today, 50 years later, I look up when I hear them fly over in Houston. Those guys did the dirty work and I was proud to have supported their efforts from a limited access air conditioned facility protected by Army MP’s. Though camouflaged, we located the bad guys and found, their weapons, truck parks, transporters and SAM/AAA sites. We were damn good at our jobs, too. Thanks to all who served and were lucky enough to return. I salute each of them, lost, dead or alive.👍🇺🇸👍
I was an Air Force medic at Tan Son Nhut AB 19658-1969. Our barracks were right across from Hotel 3, the heliport. I was an emergency room medic and did MEDCAP missions on my off-duty time in villages up to 30 miles from TSN. Crazy times and I cursed LBJ and McNamara for their murders of our guys in 'Nam. I woke up one morning to the sound of one of those helicopters. I couldn't see it. Didn't know what I was hearing, thought the lumber mill nearby was exploding. Up from behind a small mountain this thing shot up. Scared the crap out me. All I could think of was this scene from Apocalypse Now. Turned out they moving towers for the power lines from Canada.
I live on the fly over route from Barksdale Airbase in Shreveport. They do touch and go's at Gregg County Regional all the time. C 130, various fighters, choppers usually are just flying to Dallas/Ft Worth. Lots of stuff goes over. If it's local, they are less than 1,000 ft up. The choppers look less than 2,000'. Can hear them some.

Funny thing is that, as they approach, Kilgore, played by Robert Duvall, describes the psychological tactic of music, super loud music, better, Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries, composed 1850. Much revered by most Germans especially Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime. Makes me wonder, being that reel-to-reel hi-fi existed in the 40s, if that tactic was used by the Luftwaffe during the Blitzkrieg against Britain.
@@jorgefiguerola1239 Germany had something similar. The Junkers JU-87 hat propellers mounted to the fixed wheels. They made a terrible noise and scared the Allies. It was called the sirens or horns from Jericho. If you heard that, you know that a Stuka (Sturzkampfbomber - Divebomber) was diving towards you and that 1 center bomb and 4 smaller wing mounted bombs will go down on you with high precision. If you survive, you will never forget that noise in your life. Germany was mastering the joint forces doctrine. If f.e. you were in a german tank and you face a french Char 1bis tank, that you can´t penetrate with your tiny gun. You call a Stuka and your problem is solved. The problem, the Stuka had was its slow speed and that it always needed fighter protection. Hans Ullrich Rudel scored with a Stuka with two mounted 37mm guns over thousand tank kills in Russia and was the highest decorated german airman.

@@jorgefiguerola1239 Hi Jorge, I am interested a lot in history. But my family told me as well from their experience. All men in my family served at the eastern front, except my grandfathers. One was a driver for officers in the Netherlands, who inspected bunkers and defenses. He catched downed airmen and worked later on submarines. He installed a longer snorkel, so that subs could use the diesel engines in a bit more depth. The other one was part of an anti aircraft battery in Berlin. My dad (16 years old) was with a tank platoon in Russia and my granduncle a tankhunter ace in the middle sector. When my father came home, he wanted to find out what that war was about and started reading a lot. I continue with that and I have to say that the history, we learn at school about that time is full of lies. But as well about other times. F.e. Nero did not burn down Rome and Caligula was not insane. Those who win and / or survive write the history. Are you spanish? I speak a bit spanish.
My older brother was there in 66-68 fighting in the jungles and in saigon as crew of the mechanized tank battalion BN something or other and that number I forgot sorry,but he's deceased many years ago but he would tell of the horrors and disbelief of what he saw over there once he returned home from service he was never the same and was disturbed and eventually alcoholism took over his life,for him and for us his family was a difficult time for a long time..God bless you all service men and women!
Lost many young cousins in the Vietnam War. Two made it home. One was shot, healed and sent back. But not so lucky next time. They were ambushed he laid shot and dieing, while the gorilla's came checking to see if anyone was alive he said the pain was bad but nothing compared to the large black ants biting him. He knew to keep quiet, that Sergeant had radioed in what happened. As they were checking here comes the helicopters and they fled. He was saved but in bad shape. He made it home this time after being in the jungle almost two years. Sure he had a lot of PTSD,not known then. But he moved away from home,went to texas and worked on an oil rig. Hard for vets to find work,they were spat upon and called druggies. He done well for himself. Retired to Louisiana,got cancer in his leg,had to be amputated, didn't live long afterwards. All his life he tried to forget but never did. Hearing a helicopter go over he cringed for a moment, any sound that reminded him of gunshots, nightmares his wife said " it's something he never got over". The trauma was there. Sure that's why so many take their lives or turn to drugs,trying to cope with it all. Thank God it's being addressed more now.

When I was 3 or 4, I was at my neighbor Rudy Garcia's house. He let me hang out when he was working on his car, or doing yard work. This one day, he had a young high school guy, last name was Moreno, working with him. The young man stated he did not want to join the Army. I asked why. He squatted down to look me in the eye, and said he did not want to get killed. I said, " then don't join".he told me he did not want to go to jail. This would have been 1968-69. I don't know what ever happened to him, as his family moved a couple of years later. It would be later I would figure out what he was going through.

I remember this for the first time when I was 15 it was a Saturday night I was tripping balls with my older brother and mate on LSD my step father was just moved into my mum's house and he had a great music collection all led zep Clapton etc but this came on he said right who's this I never new it were Clapton but it blew me away and from there on I never put my guitar down I learnt nearly all the music songs I played back then I'm 46 now and still crazy on music I don't go anywhere without my music happy days ✌️piece out

I am 73 years old, I went to the United States at the age of 13, I went to the Vietnam War, I was in the Air Born Brigade 173, of the 9th Tx Division, after a year of fighting and experiencing horrors and mistakes, I was prisoner of war for 3 and a half years, during that time as a prisoner I never saw sunlight, always in a tunnel, we were 9 prisoners, 3 Marines, 4 Rangers and 2 infantry, only 4 of us came out alive, we weighed around 45 kg, and our skin was bleeding from so much humidity, they rescued us at the end of the war, a UN mission, some nuns, they took care of us with so much love and care, it took us three years to recover, both in skin and in body I returned to my beloved Mexico and my state of Hidalgo, where I should never have left, and my ghosts, my fears have faded little by little, sometimes I feel hatred against the Army and sometimes I miss it, because they were my brothers, Thanks to music, I really enjoy my solitude, I never married or had children, my girlfriend that I had in my youth got married in the USA, because she knew that he was missing in battle, and they told him that perhaps he would never see me again, I almost don't like to sleep, I still have nightmares, thanks to music and singing I feel good. I went to a place far away from America to destroy their houses and a lot of damage, I am very sorry, it would never have happened. Greetings.

I was obsessed with this film in middle school after I did a history report on the 1970s and touched on the Linebacker operations over North Vietnam. My teacher recommended i watch Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket. Maybe three years later, I was at the 30th anniversary screening and talking with Martin Sheen, Albert Hall, Sam Bottoms and Frederic Forrest. Definitely a night to remember.

Chesty Puller's son wrote a Pulitzer Prize winning autobiography called 'Fortunate Son' . He lost both legs in Vietnam, went to law school and was one of the ones to push for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. He killed himself before it was finished.

I was 14 when my brother went to Vietnam. I worried about him constantly. I was affraid I'd see him on the news dead in a rice patty . But he came home,thank you Lord. Later he would tell me about the helicopters bringing them in country. I never looked at helicopters the same way after that. This song was released in November of 1969 and I was a Freshman in high school (born in 1954). One month later on December 1st, 1969, the Selective Service System conducted lotteries to call anyone born between 1944 to 1950 into military service for the Vietnam war. During the same timeframe, LBJ instituted a Selective Service Qualification test (called the Vietnam exam) where you needed a certain score to keep out of Vietnam. It came down to intellectual abilities where you needed to score at least 70 points to secure draft exemption, with actual college graduates needing a score of 80. If you were wealthy and could afford an education or knew someone who could pad your scores (like a college professor and/or others in influential positions), you were most likely deferred. If not, you went.
Same birth year as you, 1954. By brother was 4 years older, born 1949, and was a conscientious objector. His advice to me on turning 18, don't register for the draft. Worked for me.

Every male was required to sign up for the Selective Service when they turned 18, so in 1972 I dutifully went down to the Post Office (yes, the Post Office) and filled out a short form and mailed it in. (No postage required, which was a nice benefit, don’t you think?) Nixon had promised to end the war, so that’s why he was most likely elected. The war started to wind down by then and the US was trying to get out. I remember at the time that I had absolutely no fear of being drafted, since the draft was over. But it was always in the back of my mind. The war officially ended in 1975 when the US pulled out and let the North Vietnamese take over South Vietnam. But believe me, I had no connections to save me if the war had dragged on. And thanks for asking.
Also born in 1954. After high school, I enlisted in the Army. 11B2P Airborne Infantry. Got out of basic and Jump School in 1973 then assigned to Fort Campbell 101st Airborne. I enlisted, so I knew I would probably be going to Viet Nam, but by 1973, the troops were coming home. Many of the guys in the unit (3/187th Rakkasans), especially the officers and senior NCO's had only just returned. After talking to those guys, I'm glad I didn't go. Huge respect for the guys that were there, and for the guys that didn't come back. Rest In Peace, Brothers.

ATRAC TEAM. Both returned n said WAR IS HELL n DON’T TRUST ANYONE. Told me of horrible times. Sad times. One had teammate going to join the enemy. Enemy shot him. They never knew why. In the mud in jungle with enemy around then. They won. My other brother said the scariest times was when the helicopter came for then. He said the pilots and guys on them were angels. My baby brother died a year ago. Heart n blood problems. My other brother has health problems but still with us. Called me a couple weeks back. Upset. Our last cousin died. He was the last one to go there n fight for our country and he died. Health n mental problems. Lots our family and friends served.

One of my shipmates on the USS John Marshall [ssbn 611] was a dress extra in the massive helicopter assault scene, the youngest looking guy dressed in a flight suit & helmet with a mustache who is shown twice. He got this temporary job because he was an army brat attending DOD high school in the Phillipines where his dad was a colonel. He was a Radioman 3rd class on the blue crew of the John Marshall in 1979 when I knew him so he had just done this prior to enlisting in the navy. I can’t remember his name as I was on the gold crew and only hung out with him briefly at the submarine barracks on Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, while he was detached on shore duty to take some sort of a crypto-communications class.
As the father of a current USMC UH-1Y Huey pilot and a son in law of a 2-tour Viet Nam combined action force Marine, two thoughts come to mind. Never underestimate the ability of our politicians to lose a conflict (McNamara and LBJ) and the quality of these young men and women deserve better leaders. My Marine is in SE Asia now within minutes of the foe if things go live.

I adore this song as CCR is my all time favorite band. I don’t love the video being shown as it depicts USA as bad guys, but please note they were all following orders to fight communism. My dad went in 1966 to set up medical units and was forward command taking over from French. He was an USA Army Civil Service employee. Every French soldier told him to get the hell out of this country because NOTHING WAS AS IT SEEMED. My dad was a WW2 and Korean Vet. Totally patriotic, totally US Army. He made a 40.00 dollar long distanced phone call to my brother in the Air Force in Maine and told him to leave the military ASAP, as my brother wAnted to reup for Officer school. My dad told him him you won’t get Officer school and Vietnam was a total SNAFU, CLUSTER F. 40.00 dollars was 2/3 of his paycheck as Army retired. Years later, my older brother told me that dad saved his life. All his fellow Airman, did not go to officer training and two died in Vietnam out of the four (including himself) that were promised this schooling if they re-enlisted. I have never trusted any politician or political party after being raised around military. I am so tired now of people being sheep and youth following every word they say.
I have every cd and download from this band. Love it, but could never figure out if they were this big protest band, than why no songs about the plight of these soldiers who were FORCED INTO WAR, and how they did their duty, honorably, and how they were treated when they got home. FOR THOSE THAT DID MAKE IT HOME. My own family member spent years fighting an anomaly bladder cancer that is now known to be caused from agent orange. VA denied him until he was almost dead from it. No DEMOCRAT HAS EVER TAKEN CARE OF OUR MILITARY OR GIVEN THEM A PAYRAISE WHILE CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS EACH YEAR. AMERICAN YOUTH NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH. One benefit troops had was a food commissary with groceries at a discount. OBAMA TOOK THAT AWAY. Many commissary’s have closed and few offer any discount therefore he put more military on food stamps. WHY? Military pay is not high, politicians cannot keep cutting their benefits. I can’t even see this youth showing up to a draft. They would too busy discussing their rights to use a freaking litter box as a bathroom or some sort of other stupidity.

Brilliant. Such great music that has stood the test of time and set to iconic film footage. The vietnam war ended whilst I was still a baby but it just invokes something in me that I can hardly describe.

My grandfather was a chemist on Americas side during Vietnam. He is 80 years old now.

Lucky enough not allowed to even fly OVER the enemy, wherever they were. But as an USAF sergeant at Tan Son Nhut Air Base (MAC HQ), where I was stationed in Saigon, I heard and saw choppers land and take off daily, at all hours near my barracks and recon intelligence squadron (11pm-7am).
I will never forget the sound of those choppers. Even today, 50 years later, I look up when I hear them fly over in Houston. Those guys did the dirty work and I was proud to have supported their efforts from a limited access air conditioned facility protected by Army MP’s. Though camouflaged, we located the bad guys and found, their weapons, truck parks, transporters and
SAM/AAA sites. We were damn good at our jobs, too. Thanks to all who served and were lucky enough to return. I salute each of them, lost, dead or alive.👍🇺🇸👍

I was an Air Force medic at Tan Son Nhut AB 19658-1969. Our barracks were right across from Hotel 3, the heliport. I was an emergency room medic and did MEDCAP missions on my off-duty time in villages up to 30 miles from TSN. Crazy times and I cursed LBJ and McNamara for their murders of our guys in 'Nam. Wound up doing 35 years from 1965 until 2000. All gave some and some gave all.

I woke up one morning to the sound of one of those helicopters. I couldn't see it. Didn't know what I was hearing, thought the lumber mill nearby was exploding. Up from behind a small mountain this thing shot up. Scared the crap out me. All I could think of was this scene from Apocalypse Now. Turned out they moving towers for the power lines from Canada.
I live on the fly over route from Barksdale Airbase in Shreveport. They do touch and go's at Gregg County Regional all the time. C 130, various fighters, choppers usually are just flying to Dallas/Ft Worth.
Lots of stuff goes over. If it's local, they are less than 1,000 ft up. The choppers look less than 2,000'. Can hear them some.

Surprised to see this scene rethought with a different track. Funny thing is that, as they approach, Kilgore, played by Robert Duvall, describes the psychological tactic of music, super loud music, better, Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries, composed 1850. Much revered by most Germans especially Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime. Makes me wonder, being that reel-to-reel hi-fi existed in the 40s, if that tactic was used by the Luftwaffe during the Blitzkrieg against Britain.
@@jorgefiguerola1239 Germany had something similar. The Junkers JU-87 hat propellers mounted to the fixed wheels. They made a terrible noise and scared the Allies. It was called the sirens or horns from Jericho. If you heard that, you know that a Stuka (Sturzkampfbomber - Divebomber) was diving towards you and that 1 center bomb and 4 smaller wing mounted bombs will go down on you with high precision. If you survive, you will never forget that noise in your life. Germany was mastering the joint forces doctrine. If f.e. you were in a german tank and you face a french Char 1bis tank, that you can´t penetrate with your tiny gun. You call a Stuka and your problem is solved. The problem, the Stuka had was its slow speed and that it always needed fighter protection. Hans Ullrich Rudel scored with a Stuka with two mounted 37mm guns over thousand tank kills in Russia and was the highest decorated german airman.

@@jorgefiguerola1239 Hi Jorge, I am interested a lot in history. But my family told me as well from their experience. All men in my family served at the eastern front, except my grandfathers. One was a driver for officers in the Netherlands, who inspected bunkers and defenses. He catched downed airmen and worked later on submarines. He installed a longer snorkel, so that subs could use the diesel engines in a bit more depth. The other one was part of an anti aircraft battery in Berlin. My dad (16 years old) was with a tank platoon in Russia and my granduncle a tankhunter ace in the middle sector. When my father came home, he wanted to find out what that war was about and started reading a lot. I continue with that and I have to say that the history, we learn at school about that time is full of lies. But as well about other times. F.e. Nero did not burn down Rome and Caligula was not insane. Those who win and / or survive write the history. Are you spanish? I speak a bit spanish.

My older brother was there in 66-68 fighting in the jungles and in saigon as crew of the mechanized tank battalion BN something or other and that number I forgot sorry,but he's deceased many years ago but he would tell of the horrors and disbelief of what he saw over there once he returned home from service he was never the same and was disturbed and eventually alcoholism took over his life,for him and for us his family was a difficult time for a long time..God bless you all service men and women!

Lost many young cousins in the Vietnam War. Two made it home. One was shot, healed and sent back. But not so lucky next time. They were ambushed he laid shot and dieing, while the gorilla's came checking to see if anyone was alive he said the pain was bad but nothing compared to the large black ants biting him. He knew to keep quiet, that Sergeant had radioed in what happened. As they were checking here comes the helicopters and they fled. He was saved but in bad shape. He made it home this time after being in the jungle almost two years. Sure he had a lot of PTSD,not known then. But he moved away from home,went to texas and worked on an oil rig. Hard for vets to find work,they were spat upon and called druggies. He done well for himself. Retired to Louisiana,got cancer in his leg,had to be amputated, didn't live long afterwards. All his life he tried to forget but never did. Hearing a helicopter go over he cringed for a moment, any sound that reminded him of gunshots, nightmares his wife said " it's something he never got over". The trauma was there. Sure that's why so many take their lives or turn to drugs,trying to cope with it all. Thank God it's being addressed more now.

When I was 3 or 4, I was at my neighbor Rudy Garcia's house. He let me hang out when he was working on his car, or doing yard work. This one day, he had a young high school guy, last name was Moreno, working with him. The young man stated he did not want to join the Army. I asked why. He squatted down to look me in the eye, and said he did not want to get killed. I said, " then don't join".he told me he did not want to go to jail. This would have been 1968-69. I don't know what ever happened to him, as his family moved a couple of years later. It would be later I would figure out what he was going through.

I remember this for the first time when I was 15 it was a Saturday night I was tripping balls with my older brother and mate on LSD my step father was just moved into my mum's house and he had a great music collection all led zep Clapton etc but this came on he said right who's this I never new it were Clapton but it blew me away and from there on I never put my guitar down I learnt nearly all the music songs I played back then I'm 46 now and still crazy on music I don't go anywhere without my music happy days ✌️piece out
