  • This is half. I will upload the other half upon request. When I got the DVD, it had no sound on it, and for copyright purposes, it will stay that way. I will not add "When you Wish Upon a Star" or "The Unbirthday Song" or any other Disney music, in fear of termination of my account. I actually, haha, added "Hey There Delilah" from Plain White T's because it was in RUclips's audio swap and I like the song ;) haha And yes, I had permission to use this video.
    Happy 55th birthday, Disneyland!

Disneyland was one of the highlights of my life. Cheesy but as a kid I went there a lot. Parents were divorced, grandmother raised me but she worked at Disneyland hotel back when there were tickets for rides, they didn’t overload the park with visitors, there was yodelling at Matterhorn, tinker bell flew from top of mountain and they even had count Basie band. I worked at jungle cruise for a year in 1979 for about 7 or 9 dollars/hour if I remember right. Even ate at club 33 a couple times because of my connection. I’d love to go back in time but only if I could keep what I know now. Cheers Bill

This is a wonderful video. I realize nobody has commented on it in a while so I will. I personally would have gone with a longer music selection. Also, the footage reads more like 1964-65. The overhaul of Tomorrowland that included the addition of the middle rail on the Autopia, the elimination of Hobbyland, and the relocation of the Astro-Jets (to become the Rocket Jets) began in 1966. Still a great video.

I was there many times during those years, lived just down Katella in Rossmoor. I remember when Space Mountain was opened when I was in 10th grade and also when they closed the buckets because people were dropping things and liquids onto people's heads. Favorite ride will always be Carousel of Progress (now only at Disneyworld) near where I currently live.

My family (the Knife Chief's from Pawnee Nation) performed at the Indian Village @ 2:53-3:37 mark...John Knife Chief (father) sung the songs and his sons Tom KC, Steve KC and Charles KC danced. Many other Native families partook throughout these years.

+eagletkc My thanks to your family. I was born in 1960, and remember these performances fondly, especially the friendship dance.

@buzzie199 That is not a mirage you are seeing, I lived in southern california for 47 years and it was a very rare sight to see a fat kid or adult anywhere. My family had to travel atleast 4 miles to find a fast food place and mothers were home to cook because most families were together instead of the norm now divorced. Plus we rode our bikes everywhere instead of mommy driving us to and from destinations such as the case now. Soda was a luxury not a 5 a day drink.

@JPProducing Is this a combination of footage from different trips? The reason I ask is because the Haunted Mansion is visible at (2:09) far off in the distance when Tom Sawyer's Island is shown. The Haunted Mansion opened in 1969. But there is footage near Matterhorn which shows the old Yacht Bar cocktail lounge (5:34) which closed by September 1966.

Would have been great nostalgia if not for the song that clearly don't have the rhythm of the 60's/70's.

@JPProducing Nonetheless, this is really great high quality footage. Do you have more classic footage of disneyland? Thanks again for posting this. I wasn't born until 1975 but I am so fascinated with the park's history from the 50's through 70's.

I'm thinking 1965 or 1966. It still has the old Tomorrowland. The new Tomorrowland opened in 1967.

@michaelcabrera Could be two trips, but doesn't have to be. Although the Haunted Mansion opened in 1969, the exterior was built in 1962-1963. See for example Dave Smith's _Disney A to Z_.
