  • *LOUD VERSION* I've had a lot of feed back that my original video is too quiet. So here's a louder version, it's not going to be perfect but turn it up and I hope it helps!
    Lesson #1 of the complete beginners guide with George Jackson covers the basics about holding the bow, names of the strings and playing open strings. 110 more lessons are available on George's Patreon at / georgejackson

    I just found your channel and look forward to learning how to finally play the violin that I bought a few years ago and never even played. It's something I've always wanted to learn but was intimidated by it from the moment I took it out of the box. And this video is the perfect sound level for my computer.

    Thank you George! I have very limited experience with playing instruments, so I'm basically starting as a complete newbie on violin today. You got me started with something I can practice for a bit. I'll be sure to check out your other lessons too.

    I learned banjo recently and now I’m onto fiddle, there are no fiddle teachers in my area so I’d like to thank you for making this series. Also I mean no insult with this but you look like Jeffery Dahmer, no offense meant sorry lol 😂

    Hi, I have always wanted to learn violin. Your videos seem fairly easy to follow and I am eager to learn from your videos. However, I am struggling in which violin to buy. Could you recommend one please?

    • @DrexisEbon
      @DrexisEbon 2 месяца назад

      If you can, I would recommend that you rent a decent one rather than buying a crappy one. Just go to a shop where they do lessons and inquire. But you will have to practice a lot to make it worth it. Many places offer lessons and rentals as a single price.

    Complete beginner here. Don’t even have one yet. I’m left handed, would I have the fiddle on my left or right shoulder? Also, how do you tune it? Standard guitar tuner?

    • @GeorgeJacksonMusic
      @GeorgeJacksonMusic  4 месяца назад +1

      Most left handed players play with the fiddle and bow in the same position as right handed players and that’s what I’d suggest. Usually it’s just what you get used to and besides there’s a lot going on in the left hand so your lead hand will be suited to the coordination needed for the fingering hand. Yes the strings are tuned GDAE and a standard guitar tuner will work fine to tune your strings.

    I’m having some issues holding the violin under my chin and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Should I be purchasing a shoulder strap?

    • @jackwilloughby239
      @jackwilloughby239 Год назад

      You might try a shoulder rest. I myself was never able to find a chin rest that was both stable and comfortable, so I just took it off and rest my chin on the belly of the violin. I found that I was more deeply aware of tone, intonation, dynamics, and it is very comfortable. With a shoulder rest (I use a Resonans 3 which is a little too low, but manageable) it is also very stable. It's best to go to a shop so you cn try them out. Not everyone has the same length of Neck. Cheers, and best of luck with Violins, Bows, and Teachers.
