Playing those parts is not that hard at this speed, it's more of a trick. Writing them is pretty hard though - you have to imagine how those will work together etc.
@@ondrasukdol6654 well, it does require a lot of strength tho. it's a different type of precision you need for shredding or doing that AAL type of fast tapping, but it's still precision; you need a strong hand and a lot of precise control of your fingers and arm muscles. let's not forget the man isn't just tapping single notes here, he's tapping chords on the lower strings of a 6 string bass and they're coming out super resonant, that is not very easy. this guy's finger tips could pbbly stop bullets.
I aspire to play bass like Dylan Desmond. I don't think a lot of people realize how hard it is to play the way he does. The bass is a huge instrument and to TAP low chords with one hand blows my mind. Every time I need inspiration I watch or listen to his playing.
I love how everyone is loving on Dylan, which is deserved, but no one is talking about that drummer. Keeping time in such a slow time signature, and doing those growls, that's not easy. I'd say he's a talented guy as well.
I saw them live recently and there was this beautiful slow organ in most parts of the set, I was blown away when I realized the drummer was playing the organ with his feet while doing the drum parts. Crazy ass dudes
I really love what Jesse brings to the sound of the band, but man, do I miss Adrian. RIP in peace Adrian Guerra, you were a gift to music for everyone and forever.
I got to meet Dylan briefly after they opened for Sleep in Portland in 2018. Very easy going, humble guy. I thanked him for coming to town and how much I appreciated what they do. I think it takes a lot of courage and self-discipline and patience to stand on stage with 2 guys and not fill the empty space with flash or performative things. Truly unique.
He has too have some strong ass fingers to be tapping chord in the other hand and playing melody in the other hand. Super difficult to do aswell. Combined with the difficulty of keeping time whilst playing slow music like this.
So great to see a live performance from Bell Witch where nobody in the crowd is talking - too many times I've seen footage where rude fuckers in the crowd ruin it. Thanks for this amazing upload 👍
It's metal, but it's super mellow, yet it still has a heaviness to it, it's dark and atmospheric, weird but interesting band, good band. Metal to really chill too.
During the second song, he plays those two notes over and over but he keeps like... fluttering his fingers after hitting it? What is he doing? I don't play bass so idk. lol
Probably just nerves, or keeping the fingers loose. He could also be lightly touching or strumming those strings to keep it vibrating so the note sustains longer?
Wait so how does it work? To be clear, I'm talking about his plucking fingers. He does this weird flutter thing over them which I would think would play another note or at least mute it somewhat...but that latter one would take some real precision.
It's not. The last track is the first 4 Phantoms track and the second song they played is the last track on 4 Phantoms I think. First track is unknown.
I love Bell Witch, but I certainly understand that it's not for everyone. A lot of people find it boring, and that's totally understandable. I mean, Mirror Reaper is like 40 minutes long, and I think if someone isn't super interested in that, I dont think that's any problem on their end. No need to attack the dude.
If you can't be respectful enough to SHUT YOUR mouth during quiet parts at a show, don't go to shows.
Go to a library you want quiet. Fucking square
Wonder who told you to 'shut your mouth' growing up?
If you bother getting angry about it, you're only hurting yourself
Exactly, listen to the fucking music.stfu. I would have been so pissed. This band is absolute🔥🔥🔥🙏🏽
STFU during a show like this. This isn't Amon Amarth at Wacken. There's a time and a place to flap your cake hole.
Couldn’t agree more. This NOT the metal show to talk and go crazy.
If this was the music they played at church, I would go every Sunday
The most amazing part of this is he's playing 2 parts at the same time on the same bass. That amount of talent and precision blows my mind

Wouldn't believe this band didn't have guitars if I haven't read about and seen it myself. Modern masters of Doom. Great live vocals too!
I really love what Jesse brings to the sound of the band, but man, do I miss Adrian. RIP in peace Adrian Guerra, you were a gift to music for everyone and forever.
Been to a show in the USA and when it started not a single word was said until the show was done it was magic
Same actually I went into a trance and lost time

Makes me want to buy a bass now. Mirror Reaper was so awesome!
Do it. I bought one for a similar reason, watching Al Cisneros play in Om. It's just as fun as they make it look.

I like Jesse's low growls, and he sure hits hard!
As a black metal head I love my blastbeats but this is impressive and mesmerizing. Good very heavy stuff!
Recently discovered the band out of pure accident. Now I'm hooked. 😍
00:00 - Improvisation?
12:30 - Judgement, in Fire: I - Garden (of Blooming Ash)
23:41 - Suffocation, a Burial: I - Awoken (Breathing Teeth)
I think the first song might be an excerpt from Mirror Reaper. Sounds like it, at least.
thx!
Yep it is. It's from around 20-30 minutes into the song of Mirror Reaper
Yes it’s from “MR” an ultimate preview nobody knew was coming...
First song is "behind the mask"
Today I learned that Bell Witch is a two-man gig
this is my cup of tea
Give me Doom or give me....death?...yes... Give me Doom or give me DEATH!!!!
Can I apply for both?

There is an entire genre like this ots called Funeral doom metal
@@BatteryAcidEater like Skepticism, yeah I can see why Bell Witch is funeral doom to some listeners.
@@Scrinwaipwr BELL witch is funeral doom. Nothing different
Atmospheric dark and haunting... 👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is way too awesome to handle.
Best funeral doom band on the planet
they are soon in here finland yeppee dudes
Kocham taka muzyke
These guys and YOB had a double bill in my city. I had a gig that night myself-I was so pissed...but at least the gig was a good payer.
Круто-круто! Ждём в Россию :)))!!!! Гроул просто нечто!!!
These guys are so fucking good
That first track sounds new to me. Don't recognise it. Might be wrong! Sounds awesome though.
TheDarkLordSteer it's right about the 25 minute mark into 'Mirror Reaper'
Fucking love it !!! PERIOD 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Classic am in
anyone know what tuning he plays in?
Last track is album quality. What dudes
Kind of reminds me Ommadon. Awesome.

It adds vibrato to a note
Late to the party, but if you chuck the video on 2x speed, you can more clearly hear the vibrato
Wait so how does it work? To be clear, I'm talking about his plucking fingers. He does this weird flutter thing over them which I would think would play another note or at least mute it somewhat...but that latter one would take some real precision.
I was thinking it was possibly to help keep time...
setlist pls
+Abbadon I'm pretty sure it's just the first 3 tracks from Four Phantoms.
It's not. The last track is the first 4 Phantoms track and the second song they played is the last track on 4 Phantoms I think. First track is unknown.
The first track is an excerpt from Mirror Reaper
This must be the wrong date because Adrian died around march 16
I was expecting Mercyful Fate.
WTF! I just now found out this a 2 piece band.
Quite Moody
Remember, if you can't play it up to speed, play it very very slowly compared to the original.
✊🏽
Great but I still miss a downtuned distorted guitar.
zero riffs
This is music?
yes
No, it's porn. Didn't you notice that nobody in the audience was wearing any pants?
Sushovan Shakya
*fortunately*,I think is what you meant to say.
No, this is something else entirely.
It is music dumbass, too bad you're missing out.
