Pat, I believe the train would go over to the unger company by the Sunoco station. And the Agway farm supply I think was furler st. And union Blvd. Way before st 80 was a thought.
This is the railroad line that crosses Route 46 in Lodi, Now it's no longer in use but the route was once used for freight by either the Erie or Lackawanna railroads before transition to the Conrail days
To show you how old I am, I remember an EL train going across that Rt46 crossing in the early 70's. I don't recall the engine used (I was about 4 yr.s old) but it did have tank cars full of water. HO2 did run on the Totowa Branch by the warehouse I work in on Tuesdays & Thursdays. I haven't heard the horn for West Belt in a while so it may have changed. I do see cars east of the Taft Rd. crossing set out near the Riverview Drive overpass.
I remember the both these crossings. My favorite was the Rt 46 Crossing. Does anyone have any videos or pictures of the Route 46 Crossing? I been looking for pictures of that for years.
I was a young lad and would ride my bicycle to the bethwood then get on the tracks that would be rt 80 now. Towards west Paterson about two miles to the Passaic river. There was a wood tressel. Over the river the cemitarys were in totowa and across in west Paterson was a cemitary. The bridge was large timbers. V ottilio was contracted to remove the bridge. Please correct me I think the great train robbery was filmed in part on that bridge. The wood from that bridge was stored in the V otillio and sons yard on preakness road on the steep hill on the way from totowa section of Paterson to Wayne. Help me my memory is going.
this looks like in the late 90's to about 2002. i remember when they redid the route 46/union blvd interchange, the tracks were paved over and the signals were dismantled.
I was looking on RUclips specifically for this crossing. I remember maybe 20 years ago or longer two Contrail engines on the opposite side of Rt. 46 from this video and was wondering whatever happened to it. Thanks for posting.
@nhlives the part between the wye @ :41 & the junction near the mountainview station in wayne is
