I didn't see that movie until after I retired from the navy, so it had been out a while. before, I was gone a lot. anyway, I was blown away!! the water tower scenes made me laugh and cry at the same time. there was so much "meat" to that movie. I had to watch it several times - but by myself - because it was emotional, and I've got to be a tough swamp cat. lol. on a sidenote, I experienced the same revelation about Brad Pitt when I watched 12 monkeys. he was brilliant in that movie.

I knew when I saw the Trailer for the Revenant that Leo would win the Academy Award, as well as the picture itself. I didn't go to the movies to see it, but I bought it sight unseen as soon as it came out on DVD. As I knew it would be, Leo's performance zoomed past amazing to astounding, to riveting, and a host of other adjectives that fall dismally short of what I saw on that screen. It was almost eerie watching him as if I was getting an unsolicited view of the character's soul. I'll never forget it.

I love Leonardo DiCaprio but it's hard for me to watch him. not because of him but because he looks so much like my son that has schizophrenia. but that's my problem lol. I loved him in gilbert grape but didn't see that movie till after titanic. It made me appreciate him even more. when I saw him in blood diamond I cried for days, so like my son. he tries to appear hard and mean but then does something dazzlingly kind. seeing his performance in gilbert grape was kind of like seeing Brad Pitt in 12 monkeys - that's when you realize they're not just pretty faces, but gifted actors.

What's eating Gilbert grape to me was the absolute best for Leo and Depp.for Leo the role showed his extreme talent. He brought the reality of disabilities his character had to an exact feeling of, we were seeing a real challenged person. I felt it even more so as my youngest brother has cerebral palsy and other challenges. Though living in the strict house hold we did. My brother never escaped and got himself into situations as Leo's character did.
Also for all his amazing roles in other movies, I am dumbfounded as to why it took so long for him to get that award statue! Makes me wonder what politics are involved in getting that thing. My opinion is that statue is meaningless. Especially when we see with our own eyes how amazing his talent is, just look at the hoards of fans!! Speaks for itself. A statue collects dust, fans keep you moving forward and show real appreciation!!

Bless Leonardo. I and my husband are lifelong environmentalists, 75 and 80 years old. We love the earth and the species that also depend upon the earth. Knowing Leonardo’s passion for the earth and his walking his talk is so encouraging! We also have worked hard, along with many others, to live a lifestyle that is best for the earth’s health. Everything I consume is chosen with the environment in mind including a second-hand Prius, (that I drive so seldom it has to be hooked up to a trickle charger.) Heartbreakingly as hard as we have worked we live in a deadly fire area and like so many are about to lose our home insurance. Things are getting harder but we will die before things get unbearable, we chose not to have children. I pray some may read this and realize the climate change threat is very real. Being elders we have seen the climate changes fueling more and worse natural disasters and it is speeding up. We have been evacuated from wildfires more time than I can remember. We have done all we can to help for more than 50 years. Those that are young and have children must educate themselves on climate change and what each individual must do or you will be leaving your children a living hell. I pray my words are heard and understood by the right people. 💛🌎💛
